    Used the 4k B on a mix today and thought it was a lot more vibe than the channel strip that comes with uc1. Definitely liked it in my drums for a rap mix

    The B channels were from the very early days. The EQ was less aggressive than the coming E-series, but the rest of the channel was truly adventurous. SSL was about to enjoy explosive success with the E.

    Love the info, just picked up a couple of your mixing courses, I use these plugins as well. Who's the artist in the review? Very nice!

    It comes with the uc1 OR subscription, so it’s better than only being subscription.

    Hi Mike I have the UCi and love it my question is when using the 4k b eq why don't it have a solo listen when sweeping frequencies like the wave EV2 channel strip or maybey I missed it on the new 4K B

    Hi Mike!
    Do you use any type of control surface in your mixing workflow or is it pretty much all mouse & keyboard for you?

    Todays the day!!! They've put it out for perpetual purchase!!

    Maybe silly question but any workflow tip for setting the fader saturation when setting levels? To get desired levels without getting the wrong saturation

    Listening on LCD-X headphones. The B sounds clean for the most part. I wish the compressor didn't use auto makeup gain though.

      on the updated version you can turn auto gain off

    sounds pretty nice cleaned up the mix well. I really love the 360 thing. I dont need any channel strips but that workflow like Harrison mixbus is so so great. I dunno. Has 4k b been released by anyone else? I dont really like th BX ones I bought years back. any thanks for showing us this one

      B series wasn't modeled by anyone other than SSL. Other great SSL emulations: Waves CLA Mixhub, Waves SSL EV2, Softube Console 1 4000E, Softube Console 1 9000K

    Warning, I just bought a second hand uc1. , The 4kb plug-in license cannot be transferred so if you buy the uc1 second hand, you will not get the 4kb plug-in with it! Thats not cool, but great hardware otherwise.

    What do you think of their channel strip and bus compressor 2? I have those and they don’t quite add what this seems to add.

      There still go doubt

    • @levondarratt787
      @levondarratt787 ปีที่แล้ว

      what do you want the Buss compressor to add? tons of harmonics? Same as the Channel 2 which is an 9000XL console - they are clean, with lots of low end, for hip hop. No need to "add" anything always.

    • @brainwasher3742
      @brainwasher3742 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@levondarratt787 Well yes. Not ‘tons’ but a little just to ‘tap’ mixes in place. I like the bus comp it’s great. But the dimensionality of analog gear isn’t there in these particular plugins. Like with X-comp v6, the mix gets deeper
      Edit: just downloaded the latest update for channel strip 2. It definitely sounds better

      I prefer the Solid State Logic versions compared to PA and Waves. The Buss comp is the best emulation imo, even better than UAD. The channel strip gives you the punch you'd expect, but it's clean and doesn't have saturation like the PA SSL's, which is fine for me. I've got plenty of saturators to give me that.

    • @StarskiYall
      @StarskiYall ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brainwasher3742 good to know I use it with my UC1 but wish it had a little bit of the e series vibe (even with the e series button in it doesn’t) I also hope they fixed the HPF the numbers are way off of where it’s actually filtering, I tested and confirmed it.

  • @raal007
    @raal007 ปีที่แล้ว

    The thing that bugs me about the comp is the difference in gain when moving the threshold (10db easily). Impossible to quickly hear what's going on vs the uncompressed signal. They implemented auto gain on the pre, why not on the comp? Thanks for posting!
