this is what bothers me, so maybe you can set me straight. If you have a code that works w/the surf mode guys, there's payment for consideration of your video, and you haven't declared that up front. It's best to say it for full disclosure, else it opens you up to questioning.
Thanks for the videos! One wakeshaoer I would love for you to try would be the flip surf! It has a magnet attachment and I am deciding between that and surf mode, it is more easily flipped between sides you should check it out and it won’t fall off ever because of the attachment style.
Just took a look online I do have a few concerns with it. Those stick on magnet strips are a one shot attempt. If you don't know the perfect place for it you're screwed. Your not going to get that double sided tape off very easy Second is you need to double sided tape the magnet base on. My boat is old and beat up, so maybe I don't care that much but I would never stick this onto a nice boat If your option is between this and surf mode, then surf mode is the one I would pick.
I running very similar set as your boat. 07 cyclone and really appreciate all your insight. Really dialed in our first waves with your videos and help. My boat actually came with the early lenco 9x12 tab set up with 2.1/2” actuators that you installed. Like you stated in another video the deployed position is only 12-14 degrees while the stored is roughly 2degrees up. This setup definitely doesn’t give me the wave that the surf mode makers have achieved. Actually very piss poor. I have my ideas as to why by looking at OEM setups on new boats. I’m think you had a follow up vid that explained what you did to change up and achieve way better results but can’t seem to find it. Wondering if you ended up enlarging the surface area of your plates. Suspect that’s the one thing that has to be done. Also might just swap out 2.5 actuators with 4 1/4” to get that more downward deployment of 22-25degrees. This is so I could just reuse holes. I’m trying not to continually blemish the back of boat with test holes. Also Although there are other diy gel coat repair vids. Wondering if you have any plans on trying your hand at it. Thoughts. Thks
I never got the deployable plates to work as well as 2 surf modes on the side So, this weekend I'll be removing the actuators and plates and putting silicon in the holes to seal it back up. The secret is to add bigger plates, but plate shape and design changes so much that it's just not worth it to keep going back to the drawing board If you want to stick with the plates just get a giant piece of cardboard and trace someone else's factory plates. It'll help a lot. But for me, I'm surf mode all day with no complaints.
@@GearsAndTech Ya that’s what I was thinking. I have surf mode also and it definitely is a game changer. Some of my kids friends say it’s the best wake they ever surfed. 👍 Plates do help with getting boat on plane when I need that option. I do use them in shallow water when ballasts are full. More as a safety to keep prop ass up few xtra inches. Thanks for feed back. I might bolt on some large plates for testing. Also thinking if I can swap out actuators with 4.5” model that would allow me to not drill more holes in boat. Such a pain. Thanks again for your response.
I made my own using a cutting board. More sq. Inches and much better wave than the commercial products and only cost me $50 CDN not including labor.. Using it on my SAN 230.
Watched a lot of your surf boat set ups and excited to see that I purchased similiar/exact boat - 07 centurion cyclone c4 with lenco wake plate set up. No xtra ballast thou. My ballast and locker position questions are answered perfectly by you. Thank you. Do you know what prop your running ? A spare is almost a must. Currently got an acme 497- 13x17.5 but most bull boards say should get 1631 - 13.5 x 14.25 or 537 -13.5 x 16
I have been running the 911 for the past 2 seasons. But it dinged up at the end of the season so I'll be running the one that was on it when I bought it. I remembered it working well when I used it before. So I'll see how it goes. Unfortunately I don't recall what it is though.
Thanks for these videos… I’m trying to get our 91 mastercraft Maristar set up to surf. I have the fat sac fat seat and a swell h3x on the side. My wave looks great but has very little push.. not enough to drop the rope. Any advice?
That's surprising. I had the same boat a few years ago. We put 2000 lbs in the very back and It worked well If you can find a phase 5 model x board it'll make up the difference. I struggled for years with a crappy surf board. It makes a huge difference
I have a 2007 Bayliner 195 i/o and I put a big inner tube dangling off the back of the boat to insure safety, I’m woundering what shaper to get l, I currently have no ballest but will be looking into that soon.
That's weird, I have had zero problems with mine staying in the boat We do the front and back suction cup first Then the middle ones Then I do front and back again

I run 1800 lb ballast in mine with the delta an the wave is incredible. 1000 lb port an 800 lbs starboard. Soulcraft baby 🍻

I've done a bunch of ghetto mode suck gates as well using scrap 2x4s and plywood.
I still have one in my boat as a backup

I see you answered my question in another video. Acme 911.

Do you feel you have a noticeable gas milage decrease when using a wake shaper on the side of the boat compared to listing the boat without one?
Great question
With one shaper no difference
2 shapers make the motor work harder for sure

I don't recomend surfing with an io
However, if you must, trim up a couple notches to help push the back in the water and run 2 surf tabs on the side
Don’t surf behind an I/O. PERIOD!!!
Google injuries from surfing behind I/O’s. Hope you don’t have a weak stomach
Can i buy surf mode ?
Yes, surf mode is available on the website. Use my discount code

Surf Mode, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, WILL NOT STAY ON THE BOAT!! And the customer service sucks
