I have neither, but I drive on very angular rocks, so portals and ground clearance are king. I was leaning VRD for a long time, but the SCX portal kit makes the Axial build enticing again. It was killing it in this video!
The Pro killing it! Nice to see 'Trouble' again, great course! I prefer portals for my daily driver, at least in my area. Lots of clearance and pretty solid performance. For side hilling I compensate with low cg and 3d inserts. For comps, I prefer straight axle. Great drive, thanks for the vid.
Very nice mate. I also fitted a set of portals to one of my crawlers and like yours it has reduced the gearing a lot, so much so i had to bump up pinion form a 9t to a 12t on a 56t spur with a Fusion Quicrun 1800kv. The end result is very similar to your Pro. Excellent run mate 💪🤘☺️
Bought a pro kit about a year ago when it went on sale, sat on the shelf for awhile but I finally got it together. They had the carbon rails on sale so I bought the portals and put together 2 pro’s basically out of one kit(with some spare parts) portal and straight axles, got the full brass fronts on both. Both are pretty nice. Want to get the vrd carbon kit next. Picked up Redcat’s ascent fusion pro, couldn’t help myself when it went on sale for $319. Looking forward to warmer weather
Dang that’s gutsy for sure. But yea it’s better to let the vehicle go alone down that cliff. Better than death and hospital bills if you’re lucky enough to survive. A rc vehicle can always be repaired 👍🏻
I have a stock SCX Pro, just weighted rings in the front, and I'm pleased with the way it articulates and handles. I'm building a VRD Carbon, and plan to drive it stock, then add a stubby kit and brass later. For working on it, I think the Pro is difficult. We'll see how the Carbon compares.
Love it.. my VRD is was 70 / 30 but I dropped it a bit. Brass knuckles, heavy front brass covers, seems to be ok. Had the 2.2 brass rotors on also, on the outside but with the Bamf Inserts, I didn't need them. Fou d the sweet spot now.. pretty happy. Now to try different tires other than Rupture
VRD Carbon that I converted over to a Brazin Frontline chassis. It improves the already great performance in a VRD Carbon kit. But I may end up rebuilding a VRD Carbon from scratch just because it’s still that great.
You asked. I have Axial products readily available in Australia. Currently playing with cage builds for fun and daily walking exercise. When you put the portals on do you have to change motor direction? Should you run that in comps? Sorry I can’t say . Would suggest you just enjoy yourself with both.
I have the Pro Portal kit. Have you had any issues with servos getting REALLY HOT? I’ve tried 3 different direct powered servos and they all get crazy hot. I’ve adjusted endpoints down which only mildly helps. No binding in the throw either. Interested if anyone else has had this issue?
Great video as always nice job. How is the 4 link better than a 3 link don't you lose articulation with the 4 link ? or am I missing something. Glad you are looking after Sydney's well being. Thanks
I have a fully modded stance and an scx10.3 not the pro but also fully built going to swap for a 4 link soon both great trucks vrd is a monster tho lol
No Sidney today? Hope all is well. I have a VRD carbon built to the hill that sits on the shelf except for comps and indoor courses! It’s definitely not a trail truck that’s for sure! I need to get a pro to build, no doubt
Logan your running a 2500kv with the v3 I ha e same outrunner and stayed away from the v3 as was looking at geting the v2 as the recommended max kv is 2250 good to no its running fine on the higher kv
@dangood6670 ye I love the v2 I have but that and the 2500 revolver is going into my rc speedy so grabbed a 2500kv snubnoise for my comp rig and now looking at a new esc I've got a rhino for now to test but looks like it's another v2 needed
I sure wish the guy from crawler Canyon would watch your channel so he would understand what it’s like to actually crawl on real rocks out in nature instead of cement rocks how you do real testing fake testing but all your videos are always very biased so good job
You’ve got me wanting to put portals on my Pro now along with the Reefs brass! Great content!
Looks awesome
Good to see ya getting that content out there again. Always looking forward to your videos no matter full size or 10th scale.
I have had a vrd and two Scx 10 pro ‘s one with straight axles and one with portals and I have had since sold the vrd .
Outstanding crawling, i would comp that truck, it holds it,s ground, very nice crawl!!!!
Excellent run. As always. Love the videos.
One sick crawler 👍👍
I really like mine on the pacesetter chassis . That chassis makes a huge difference in the performance of this rig

I think if I lived in your area, I'd turn into a two-legged mountain goat with a crawler 😅😅
👍🤙

Had a Stance, now running TOF Carbon. Love the Vanquish rigs.

I’ve got the vrd carbon, definitely my favourite rig performance wise, Capra is my favourite rig just for the pure joy of 4ws and the cage style

“Just flat out: IT IS.” 😂 🙌
Love that sketchy stuff we got a place here in southern Illinois that got some spots that if it goes it's gone

I hope they come out with an SCX10 Pro portal version.
I have a rock pirate carbon fiber stance that I’m loving!!
If u put grease in your axles they get a little bit more quiet , I had the same problem

I’ve done all the same lines with 3 link as the same trucks with 4 link set ups. All trucks with the straight axles.
You asked. I have Axial products readily available in Australia. Currently playing with cage builds for fun and daily walking exercise. When you put the portals on do you have to change motor direction?

Works well with portals, but I have resisted swapping over because it works great stock.
Nice 👍🏾💯
Funny how vanquish has a straight axle kit and Axial portals.
I have 4ws portal pro capra and love it
I have the vrd carbon and put the CCW battle axe chassi in it.... It's a line slayer, love it.....
Currently build the VRD Straight axle kit
How did you get so much steering out of that
Great video as always nice job. How is the 4 link better than a 3 link don't you lose articulation with the 4 link ? or am I missing something. Glad you are looking after Sydney's well being. Thanks

Logan can you do a build review on this one?
50th like
Got a pro on straights, looking to get both VRDs straights/portals, an probably getting another Pro for myself for Xmass an portal swap it
Will you please make a video on how to get more angle out of the steering please and thank you
How much does it weigh now?
Hey man have you ever had any issues with mounting servos on super shafty Capra axles? What’s the correct combo here? Horn gonna hit pumpkin
No Sidney today? Hope all is well. I have a VRD carbon built to the hill that sits on the shelf except for comps and indoor courses! It’s definitely not a trail truck that’s for sure! I need to get a pro to build, no doubt
Too hot for Sydney she doesn’t do well in the heat being black and the rocks can burn her feet so she stays home in the AC
Wheres the sidster, Have not seen the pup in a while ????
Too hot in the summer
Plsssss run the VRD on this course (especially the end part)
Logan your running a 2500kv with the v3 I ha e same outrunner and stayed away from the v3 as was looking at geting the v2 as the recommended max kv is 2250 good to no its running fine on the higher kv
Yeah the v3 doesn't like my 2500kv revolver 540 either, so I use mamba micro x2 with it. I have the 540m 1800kv on the v3 and it works well.
@dangood6670 thanks so maybe best to stay away from the v3 then or change motor and esc :( lol
@tdrcadventures8808 it's a good esc just not for bigger high kv revolvers
@dangood6670 ye I love the v2 I have but that and the 2500 revolver is going into my rc speedy so grabbed a 2500kv snubnoise for my comp rig and now looking at a new esc I've got a rhino for now to test but looks like it's another v2 needed
@@tdrcadventures8808 the snubnose would probably be fine with v3
Yeah Compete pro

Agreed. Can’t watch the spinning block man.
Crawler canyon does nothing but bitch and Moan and drive on concrete
