He has a great voice and his musical compositions are definitely elementary, but he set out mostly to use simple time tested doo-wop progressions to compose his songs and never claimed to be some progressive refined musical genius like someone such as Omar Rodríguez-López is. Bruno Mars has a great voice, but his music is definitely catered to the masses with white knight classics that made me cringe the first time I heard them such as "The Way You Are." That said I like his voice and think on a technical level his ability to sing soft in the upper fourth and lower fifth octave is far beyond other popular adult contemporary singers who cater to the masses. He can masterfully sing a difficult song like The Police's "Roxanne" and kill it live better than Sting could in his prime and not dodge any of the notes.

I was two days ago at his concert in Budapest, god, what an experience! I know well that he is crazy talented, I knew that live he sounds even better than on cd, but to hear it all live, with your ears, that magical voice, it's a whole new level, I am totally blown away. He surprised us with Billie Jean and Dirty Diana performance, he didn`t perform this to any of the concerts on this tour. It was insane! He just confirmed to me that he is absolutely extraordinary and brilliant musician, in every sense. He will be one of the greatest ever, if not already. People, if you have the slightest opportunity, go to his concert, it is an experience that can not be forgotten ever! :)
