I played with him for a while such as telling him I just looked at all the windows in my house and I couldn't see any viruses on them. He eventually just hung up on me.
I had a scammer call me from "Comcast" to tell me I had a virus several years ago. I played along for a while, but then my wife came home and I had to leave, so I told him "I have to go so I can't continue with this scam" and I hung up.
I doubt it, the responses are really bad, an AI would have better grammar, spelling, and more verbose output. If it was AI it'd be even better since he's using up their tokens/compute resources which will cost them money.
I want to say it's AI (the style of responding feels very AI if given very specific instructions and model trained on those scams), but it feels almost too dumb for AI... then again a real human would probably give up sooner... maybe it was multiple scammers and they didn't look at the previous conversation, but they were replying to old messages... maybe they get paid per message...
