I would be fun if you continued this video format, but made it more of a bootcamp thing where you involved the owner of the backlog and stayed up for 48 hours or whatever to paint an army with them. Perhaps it could be called Backlog Bootcamp!
The concept is great but I’d much prefer to see you painting army’s for community groups or perhaps audience members that are less mobile/capable rather than somebody who’s hoarding €100k+ worth of warhammer that they’ll never bother painting and could afford to have them pro painted if they just moved on a corner of the room.
During a series of manic episodes (bipolar) I bought more minis than I could paint in a lifetime. After selling everything I could I'm left with a pile of literal shame that kills me every time i look at it and a mountain of debt. Anytime I see your bases I get jealous of your flocking supplies lol I really really love this idea of going around helping with piles of gray, it guarantees a wide variety of painting subjects, adds a level of chaos, and introduces us to different people in the hobby. 10/10 concept
Exactly. Dude has a problem and needs help. My great uncles does the same with model trains and cars. Legit you can’t get it half the rooms of his house because it’s just boxes upto the ceiling. another example of why: Collecting Minis, Painting Minis and playing the games are 3 completely separate hobbies. This guy just happens to be heavy in all three.
I'm a bit undecided on this video. On one hand, I love seeing all of the amazing kits and models, the history stored within the collection. On the other, the lack of organization or knowledge of what is there hurts. How many of the books have been read and how many are just decorations? How many games have been played, and how many just sit on the shelves? I also have a massive collection and backlog, but I know what I have, they're organized, I continue to paint them and get games in. I love seeing minis completed and ready for the table!
I would love to see a version of this series where you help sell items in collections, I also have collection of model kits Im starting to get this overwhelming feeling of painting and I always want to sell some unbuilt kits but man I can never find anyone to sell to or figure out how to get that going
Amazing! I'm finishing the upgrade of my build/paint & airbrush room. Bought a good and strong table, pro office-chair and of course got the last add (the latest Squidmar airbrush set). This Christmas and winter I'll start with the 3 boxes and the wet palet + airbrushing. This going to be fun. I have to learn & relearn a lot.
I still buy things but ive set myself a rule that as soon as a box is opened, it has to be built, painted and based until i can move on to the next box. So far its been working. I take about 2 weeks to finish a unit . So every 2 weeks i get to build and paint a new thing. Its kinda nice. I told myself, i cannot get old and die with gray unbuilt armies.
I had a fairly sizable collection of models at one point but sold all of it during a time when money was tight. Now I am older I try to limit my purchases to only what I am working on but recently I have allowed that to creep. My goal is to ensure I build and paint regularly. Then I got a better job and the buying part went up, but the playing time and build/painting suffered, and the friends were many states away so maybe once a year playing while on a vacation to their place. Now this is a series! I realy had to rethink the way I paint to cut down time and help get my backlog down. I try and do everything in as few colors as possible. Less thinking, more painting!
Kinda think you should've included the guy in on the painting process. Sometimes just getting that ball rolling is the hardest part. Maybe with some friends encouraging him n painting along with him, might give that confidence and drive to paint even more.

Amazing work and a fantastic idea! As someone who is just getting into the hobby, it's both inspiring and intimidating seeing such a well painted army. I can only hope to achieve this level of quality. Bravo gentlemen 👏👏
This is quite heartwarming too, what a fun idea for a series. One of the things I'm most excited for is seeing you paint some of my favourite factions again, but to the colour scheme and style of the owner (like Tyranids 😄). Perfect excuse for lots of creative recolours haha! Actually may I make a suggestion please? - If the onwer has a specific style, would you and Lukas challenge each other to most closely replicate it? Perhaps a more interesting aim would be to have the most interesting version of the owners' style/who has "the best take on it". There is also so much potential for you to help them improve.

This video has me wishing that you would come and help folks out in the United States too. I have such a huge backlog because my job prevents me from getting time to paint, requiring lots of travel and overtime. Some day I want to get my minis all painted but when you've been collecting for more than 10 years and have thousands of miniatures (I think somewhere around 6,000 minis in total) that seems rather overwhelming.
The concept is not horrible, but I liked it better when you helped out people that really needed it, like the guy that was selling his army unwillingly to pay bills or the one you gifted to someone's dad that had to quit the hobby long ago. This dude has a problem with hoarding and that's it. He could spend less in plastic and more in painting comissions if he wanted.
