I just love this, I'll be soon starting my Marvel collection/sanctuary and I want it to be as much organized as I can make it to. Love the way you display the things ❤️❤️❤️
I wanted to thank you for posting this video. I have been looking for a storage solution for a while now and this one seemed perfect! It took a little work to track down a HON legal cabinet but it as worth it. Also, posting how you made the boxes along with measurements saved me a ton of time and they came out perfect. Thanks again for sharing.
you probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Phillip Aden Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Good ideas here. I just cleared out an old lateral file from our storage unit, and I think I'm going to give this conversion a try because my cardboard boxes of comics are driving my wife crazy.
Excellent idea! I currently have one of those cabinets (filled with VHS tapes of old cartoons/wrestling PPVs) and I may just employ your idea on it eventually. Great job!
Just joined your channel. Thanks for the insight. Here's a suggestion for your tabs. Measure the height of your tab dividers. Go to a print shop (not a fedex kinko's, but a real print shop), select a card stock and color(s)...and ask them to cut the stock to the height of your divider, including the tab. The paper will be the height of the tab, but uncut at the top. It's really inexpensive. Make sure the stock is heavg, but not too heavy. Now you can load the tabbed height stock into in your bypass tray on your printer and print as much info across the top of the tabbed height (you info is limited by the size of your lettering.
I just bought four of these that are half as wide for $25 each at a secondhand shop. I was using BCW plastic bins but they are so overpriced. I'm not paying 30 bucks for a plastic box. Thanks for the ideas for the boxes and dividers.
With those boxes packed so tight and with all the book’s spines being on the same side, you’re going to have creases on some books; about 1/4” from the spine, that will run the full length of the spine from top to bottom. I would suggest that you have every other book flipped upside down so that the spines alternate. It might be too late though.
A crease would only occur if the book isn’t fully seated at the bottom of the bag. The density of the filing could be an issue but as long as he uses at least 2 boards per comic, I think they’ll be ok. I’m a university archivist and academic librarian BTW!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
My Comics and my Legos fill my ENTIRE spare bedroom. I would need like 7 or 8 of those cabinets. I still would have Longboxes left over. You are doing a GREAT job of organizing though. Good Job bro.
Awesome! I was able to pick up the exact same filing cabinet for $20 on Facebook Marketplace. Which is crazy! I was looking up these cabinets, 42"x52", and these things can go for $700. I'm definitely going to keep my eye out for one more, just so I know I have enough room for my future comics. I will definitely be using your backerboard divider idea and the Styrofoam insert. Great video, man!
I have downsized to about 500 books but still would like to get them into a nice cabinet storage system as opposed to a few small boxes. Thanks for the vid and info....
I was just thinking about doing this myself. I really like seeing how easily the drawers open and close with the weight of the comics. Do the drawers have bearings?
Awesome ... I used the Art Comic books right now and do love them. But right now I'm stacking them and was looking for another way to store them that would be easier . I think I will try this . Now just have to look for a large filing cabinet at a reasonable price. Have you had any problems with weight on the drawers when you pull them out ?
I remember a classmate back in graduate school in Dallas had his books stored like this .
I just love this, I'll be soon starting my Marvel collection/sanctuary and I want it to be as much organized as I can make it to.

Thank you and thanks for watching.
Incredible in the process of getting a lateral filing cabinet myself. I love your idea with the foam boards.
Thank you for watching
I have one of the narrow ones so I finally figured out that you can fit 2 rows going the other way. It works great!
Awesome

That's awesome that I could be of help. Thank you for watching
Love small TH-cam channels like this just started my own collection this helps tons
Thank you and glad I could help out with some ideas for your collection.
I like the tab idea, I think I used your video's as a reference for my drawers.
Thanks for watching
Thank you for this idea. This is going to save me $500 from making a fancy storage for my comics. No need to reinvent the wheel, just pimp it out.
Thanks for watching. I hope it goes well for you. Its definitely a game changer.

@Phillip Aden It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out!

Cool video Jim. I dig it!
Thanks for watching buddy
Nice job
Thank you
Awesome!! I just started a project for this because of your videos. Thank you!!
That's awesome! Thanks for watching.
Really cool setup man!!! I’ve been thinking about trying this too, but I’ve already completely run out of furniture space ha.
I understand that. I'm not sure where I will fit another cabinet at but I do know I will need more space.

Great set up 😊
Thanks, I appreciate it
Great video man I just got a file cabinet so I’ll be busy this weekend 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Thanks for watching. Good luck
Omg I'm going to use this
Thanks for watching
I really like the system. Just subscribed.
Thank you kindly
That is amazing man. Great job! I am looking for a file cabinet too...but can never find a decent one. Great vid and ideas man.
I've seen alot of nice ones for cheap on Facebook market place. That and I would check thrift stores.
Great job !! Going to do the same. Got a much of these at work. Hopefully they'll let me have one
Good luck. Having these are the best thing I could've done. They are so nice and convenient for accessing your comics.
Do you have cabinet measurements and the foamboards amazing idea 💡
I believe I mentioned the dimensions is this video. If not I will send you measurements. Thanks for watching th-cam.com/video/sXruBJuj5Fk/w-d-xo.html
Awesome!
Thank you
I just bought a couple legal sized file cabinets, will soon be getting around to storing my small collection in them. They were dirt cheap!
If you are doing comic magazines it's 10 1/2 in the middle and it make 3 boxes 9 1/2 × 10 1/2
Ok what were your measurements I have 3 fiing cabinets like this this will help me
Around 33x15
Hmm, I learned a lot from this, thanks for sharing
How many long boxes did you fit in there? Great idea
It's about 2 long boxes per self.
Thanks
nice man
Thanks for watching
Hopefully you see this.
But can you show me what you used and the measurements? I need to make one of these
th-cam.com/video/sXruBJuj5Fk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZfMcC2BMEhldGsg2 hopefully this helps out
I was just thinking about doing this myself. I really like seeing how easily the drawers open and close with the weight of the comics. Do the drawers have bearings?
They roll like they do. Very smooth. Weight hasnt been a problem at all for the drawers. I would highly recommend getting a cabinet for your comics
Boatwright Family and Comics that’s perfect, thanks!
Neat

Now just have to look for a large filing cabinet at a reasonable price. Have you had any problems with weight on the drawers when you pull them out ?
I have had zero problems with weight. It has been perfect. I just bought another cabinet at my local salvation army last week for $39.
What is the dimensions of your cabinet and what is the depth of the drawer?
The cabinet is 36 inches wide and the depth of the drawers are 9 inches
Would you happen to know the make and model of the filing cabinet? Thanks again
I dont not off the top of my head but I will check when I get home.
I have one with the name HON on it and the other is filex
Thanks, I just got mine all together from an office supply store! So much better than paper boxes
Do the draws hold the weight of the comics okay? i was thinking on doing this for my comics but kinda scared the bottom of the draw would fall out lol
Weight is not an issue. Just know if you do this that you fill the bottom drawers first so the cabinet wont be top heavy.
@@holdfast2628Thank you :)
Pro tip: Do not have all of your drawers out or your cabinet will tip over. Take it from personal experience.
What dividers are in ther? Those stock?
I used backing boards and I cut index cards the width of the tape and taped them to the boards.
Instead of buying dividers or boxes, simply use your comic boxes. They work well and it's cheaper.
What type of file cabinet is it thinking of getting one for myself
I believe they are called legal filing cabinets. The legal cabinets are wider than a standard filing cabinet.
@@holdfast2628 thank you and personally this is a great idea for comic storage and how you organise your comics is fantastic
So what kind of filing cabinet is it? A letter hanging of legal? I'm iffy on getting one because of the size. I'm not sure the comics will fit
It is a legal cabinet. Legels are wider. I would definitely recommend. I haven't had any problems with it.
@@holdfast2628 cool, thank you
Nice project looks great. You for hire?
Thanks man, I appreciate it. What am I getting hired for?
Boatwright Family and Comics make me one too lol
Alphabetical order would take me years lol
How many comics can u store in this file cabinet? Thx! :)
Four drawers will hold about eight long boxes
@@holdfast2628 thx man! Just need to find a damn file cabinet, lol
I got two at my local salvation army thrift store. Check thrift stores and also check Facebook market place. Good luck
I'm # 500 sub.
Thank you for subbing and thanks for watching.
