      *If you store 2 books per bag, the back cover image of the book on the rough side of the backer board can partially transfer onto the board itself.*

    I enjoyed this! As a long time collector (51+ Years) I always use several backing boards for my comics(You will, at some point in your collecting, drop a book or two) and only into Mylites or mylites2. No light on the books is spot on! I do use tape, but I reverse the tape on itself so when the book is pulled out, no tape would come in connect with the book! (I love the FF#1 story by the way as a friend of mine did it with a JIM#83 40+ years ago!) Ouch!!!

    Re: the dessicant in the comic folio. You could always tape the dessicant to the inside of the lid so it's out of the way of the comics, but still able to work its magic.

    For anyone who does want to wall display comic books.
    Comic book One Touch are great for that. They can be hung or mounted with ease and they display very nicely.

It was very educational! The comic community is so cool and there's so much love and care going on to preserve these stories! Congrats on the channel

    Awesome video! When storing one comic per bag/board, do you recommend storing them facing each other, as opposed to all facing one direction, to avoid spine roll? I've seen a couple of videos suggesting this method, but I'm not sure how much of a difference it actually makes long-term.

    • @A1ComicsINC
      @A1ComicsINC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      facing each other is a good option if you do not want them to share a bag, its a better method than having them all face one direction in a tight box.

    • @comicblueswithjonygitar36

      @@A1ComicsINC that's what i do, stagger the boxes. Funny because as a kid i reversed my little stacks every few and made a big difference in my PC from early 70's, i left them 40 years without even looking.

    Awesome video. Do you have any recommendations for storing the square bound books of the 70's? My early DC Shazam collection is a tough fit in modern / bronze bags but they seem too loose in the silver age bags. Are there any other options?

  • @northgardencomics
    @northgardencomics 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the Pro tips! I just recently started double booking my bags. You mentioned specifically using the fully acid free boards (half backs and full backs) for older books (pre 1990). Do you not see the same yellowing or negative effect on newer books? Maybe because paper type changed?

    • @A1ComicsINC
      @A1ComicsINC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there is less acid in the paper in modern books, the acid is what causes the yellowing

  • @robertt9342
    @robertt9342 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe the "acid free" non buffered boards also become acidic on their own due to the materials used in cardboard itself becoming acidic.

    When storing comics in a box, is it ok for them all to face the same direction? I have heard from some people that you should alternate upside down or even facing each other every other book.

    Can someone help answer this question? I have so much problem with CGC new slabs. 8 out of 10 books shipped gets damaged with the book sliding in the case. The damages varies from front cover separating from staples, dent corners, fold edges and crack spine. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to deal with this serious CGC slab defects? Sooner or later CGC is going to get a class action lawsuit for their defective case.

    Its either Mylites or nothing

  • @niknikktm

    I've been collecting since the 70's and to this day I have yet to use a single board. I've stored all of my books in 4 mil mylar bags and loosely stored them in boxes. I just don't see any advantage to using a board if the mylar bag is rigid enough to protect the book from damage and I don't like the idea of anything touching the book other than the mylar itself. Maybe I'm unconventional but my books still look great after being stored that way for 40+ years. Yeah, it costs more for the bags and you end up needing more boxes than had you packed them in tighter but considering their value, it's well worth the extra cost.

    • @Eyrrll
      @Eyrrll 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can afford them, they are the way to go. They are solid protection and they don’t wrinkle over time like polypropylene bags. I have a small number of Mylites in my collection that I placed some specific stickers on over 30 years ago, which allows me to identify them easy... and they still look exactly like they did over 30 years ago.
      They are a bit more expensive but you never really need to replace them due to age.

    In your opinion how snug should the comic be in the bag and board. I recently bought mylites for modern books but had to almost force the comic in and am worried that it’s putting tension on book.
