    100% agree - fundamentally it doesn't apply to just Lego but to everything you want to be successful at.

    Great video Shane. One of the hardest things to do is be disciplined.

    New sets are tempting and I usually get myself one to stop the Lego fever that we get! Then I watch and listen to see if my personal research and interests are valid. I especially watch for the backorder and out of stock on the Lego online store as it gives a bit of information etc.

    Great video, Shane! Being disciplined is so hard but so important.

    9:52 I feel personally attacked Shane. I’m not hoarding LEGO, I’m “exercising discipline” and not selling until I’m ready lol.
    Kidding aside, great video! Make a plan and stick to it. (Cool PlayStation light too!)

    Shane, you’ve got some great points in this video! Thanks for continuing to help us stick to a plan. It’s important to have goals and plans for investing and then selling at the optimal times. Selling takes the discipline not to let it go too soon!

    What i find difficult is when deals show up 40-50% off, sets that are on my target list, but i know the set won’t retire for at least a year or even longer.
    My gut says buy it, but then my holding time will be longer and my money is tied up. How do you deal with this?
    Coz those deals don’t happen often and my strategy is buy as low as possible. I don’t even look at 20-30% anymore.

      I think it’s an art of buying in the Goldilocks zone. As most sets retire after 2 years, I’ll buy a set within 6 months of retirement at the next sale; if I leave it too late, the price might be lower but the set not available, or if it is available the boxes might be banged up and looking grubby. For example I just bought the Marylin Monroe Lego art for $79 despite an initial retail price of $299 on its launch and it’s retiring within 6 months and the box is in mint condition. Balancing sales, box condition and availability I suppose is the art of all this

    2 years ago i had a budget of $30 and decided to invest in one Lego set. I chosen, some inexpensive set Lambo Hurracane, it is in bag and priced only $5. The very unique was sticker on the bag with individual serial number. I tried to resell this set for $10, printed some local ads and spoke with my friends and some other people in community. Past near 2 years - NO ONE wants this set till now, so I stuck with this investment, while for this money I could buy some simple tool to work in garage. So i was careful, invested minimum, the set is rare and unique.... but what went wrong? How do you resell?

    I think of it less as investing and more as buissness, like a merchant, buy low, sell high, the time scale is just longer than most retail, ie you need storage area.

    • @BrickBucks
      @BrickBucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah, it's somewhere in between. It is half merchant / reselling, and half investing, because we are buying stuff to hold for a period of time while the value appreciates. So there are some investing-type things we need to get good at, like calculating ROIs, CAGR, compounding etc.

    • @PhiTonics
      @PhiTonics 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BrickBucks very true, a lot of it reminds me of stock investing and learning how to evaluate a companys buissness.

    Great advice. I have about 100 sealed sets, I find the Ebay fees`s reduce your profit too much so I have started doing Lego Fairs, I have done a couple of generic Toy fairs, done ok, but I am hoping the BrickFest Birmingham in the UK will be a huge success (They do about 5 or 6 around the country a year), would you recommend this type of strategy.

    Hi Shane.what tools do investers need to make this work for them...ie 🐫 🐫 🐫 .also at what stage do you take a wage as such...if you reinvest all the money made,at some point you want to be rewarded for what the person is doing.i guess its in the game plan

  • @c.5701
    @c.5701 ปีที่แล้ว

    I already sell sets when they have 100% increased, so its 60% roi after all fees and shipping. Do you think it is a mistake? I like the early cashflow... i bought too much, so that sometimes i have to sell... still worth it? Sometimes i had just a holding time for 3 months...

    • @BrickBucks
      @BrickBucks  ปีที่แล้ว

      not a mistake at all, very solid approach :)

    So if I’m using credit card and if I’m holding. Am I paying off the bill off at the end of the month? How’s that work? Thanks for the feed back I was hoping it was something like that.

    • @BrickBucks
      @BrickBucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each person will have their own strategy but one thing that is possible is getting a credit card that has a 0% interest offer for a year or two, and then you can leave the balance on it for a while without paying interest. If it's a regular APR credit card though, definitely pay it off each month
