  • Cells with prolific gene mutation may stop its normal functioning, to go out of control and become cancerous. Our Cancer Nanomedicine and Immunotherapy Research Group specializes in developing novel biocompatible nanoparticle delivery system which can deliver the CRISPR components inside the cell which is used for both detection and treatment of cancer.
One of the gene editing methods known as CRISPR/Cas9 has won the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. This method was adapted from a naturally occurring genome editing system, which uses bacteria as an immune defence. Currently this method uses viral vectors to traffic the components to the cells.
In today's research podcast segment, Ms. Najma N, who is a senior research fellow (TA-DBT) of this group, talks about her ongoing Ph.D. research which focuses on nanoparticle-based gene editing which is used for the treatment of brain tumor. Stay tuned to our podcasts for more!
