Thanks for the aftermath video. I followed the eruption daily on big island videos. Once the eruption stopped there was very little coverage so thanks for this update.
That was an awesome view. I watched so many videos of Fissure 8 last summer and to see you walking up to the top of it now is so interesting and amazing. I'm glad you and your homestead are recovering and doing so well. I hope it stays that way for you and all your neighbors. Thanks for the update Gabe
Aloha Mr Rebel, hope you don't get in trouble for climbing F8. Happy Valentines Day, hope you have a great day/night. I love the chocolate video as well, I love all your video's. Much Mahalo
Wow Gabe! The view is amazing from up there, both of the inside of the fissure and out to the surrounding countryside. I hope no one gives you trouble for going up there and filming it. How cool that the school class watched your chocolate video and sent you letters about it. Glad it's getting so much attention - it's a great one! Hope you had a great Valentine's Day.
I love this guy, I watched the eruption obsessed and searching for video I came upon him and a buddy walking at night on the lava flows. Instantly hooked.
I've always thought that it would be fun to hike up Fissure 8. I've climbed other cone's in Arizona and I know it is harder to go down than up with the loose volcanic rock. Amazing to think of all the transitions we've seen since the eruption last summer. Always interesting to watch mother nature do her thing. TY for sharing and I love anything chocolate watching, smelling but especially eating it slowly with a warm cup of coffee or tea. 👍
Brilliant!! The warm early light and the red lava rock are so beautiful. Makes you feel the heat and fire that created this new landscape. Great work!!
Well, that was a *happy* video...love it. Of course you walked up to the summit of F8...great...why not...it's there...love that. Love your recovered homestead...and your shave. An all-round love fest. Happy Valentines Day.
Very interesting. Surprised that there is noticeable heat coming up. Glad your plants are doing fine. Great that they were able to use video on chocolate. When St Helens was going off before the big on Portland,Oregon got dusting of ash. I sent some to my sister in Michigan to be used in her second grade class. The kids loved it. Have a good one. Oh, I have had a mustache since college. Never shaved it off. I have had a beard on and off thru the years. I had one while riding a motorcycle.
G’day mate from the other big island. 🇦🇺 Great news on the number of views of your chocolate video, it certainly got my mouth watering. Awesome to hear you are in good spirits my friend, keep that vibe up high. ✌🏽
That was a treat, great view from top of F8. Thant was nice of the kids to write to you. Great idea on the teacher’s part to share your video with her class 💕. Thanks for sharing.
Aloha Gabe, It's good to know folks are recovering. So many losses this past eruption. Dis old Aunty's from Wai'anae, Oahu. You need to recognize that you shouldn't be up there... many consider that disrespectful (plus, isn't that area restricted?) I SUBSCRIBED because I'd like to get to know you and your channel. Please listen to Aunty and don't go up there any more. E malama pono. A hui ho. GOD BLESS, - AuntyKeli'i ;-)
Aloha!! I love your video, keep them coming! I was born in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii in 1970! I'd like to visit my home state again one day.... would love to meet u
Awesom Gabe must feel great to stand up on top of fissure 8 after watching all that action from it last year . Gorgeous Sunrise too ! Letters from second graders would be fun 😊 I’m glad to hear your Homestead is doing well & I’m going to watch your Chocolate making video next , I’ll be back there in May so hopefully will be able to sample some , love the new beard very nice 😁👍🏼
Merci Gabe, you have many very inetresting and smart video's....with humor or not, . You and your mates in hawai, are a blessing for us stuck in the cold country's! you guys make it feel like we are there with you, awesome! MAHALO
This is a neat threat for Valentine's day thank you Gabe. I am still going over the videos from the eruption. I had missed a few so I just started from the beginning with everyone's. It's much more interesting from your view as a resident then just some documentary (although I have watched that as well lol) Mahal & Happy Valentine's Day from a very chilly & snowy Canada
awesome vid Gabe :) friendly greetings to you, and scott and the dogs griffin and goliath. Yes fissure 8 was a huge blast it caused a eerie pink sky in the night scott told me when it was active.
Wow good video if I had stayed on Oahu where I lived for 10 years I could have done that too to make a video of it well keep up great work hope it stays quiet for good
Amazing video Gabe! Looks like it was a fun hike up. Ironically, I was just telling a friend of mine about your videos this morning!! Hopefully they're watching.
Think you are looking pretty sharp an this lovely Valentine's Day. Have a great one, my friend is in love w you, lol. She used to live in Hawaii. Btw, it's really great to see you getting 'back to yourself' so to speak. Glad the worst is over and you are able to recover. Been praying for you and all affected.
@@gabehumphries5483 very, she is just right for you. I send her your vids. She is too shy (not usually like her, lol) to sub cuz she thinks you are so awesome.
Amazing post. I was amazed to see that steam continues to be emitted through the tephra. Surely this could have ended in problems? Thanks for being so adventurous, though. I suspect that, like Mauna Ulu, lava will never be emitted again from this particular point.
I never once heard that it had stopped erupting..... But here it is supposedly... Interesting that this wouldn't make world news.... Just goes to show what the higher ups find important and what not
This is kind of cool. I was searching for different ideas on how to make chocolate and discovered your channel. I was one of the first houses evacuated when Fissure 8 erupted. Gabe would you or one of your friends be interested in going back into my ash melted house and retrieving a few things. It will make an interesting video. Thanks
I've been waiting for someone to film from the top, thank you! 👍 Have the lava restrictions been lifted or are they just being more lenient since the immediacy of the emergency has been over for 1/2 year?

No it is all private property, the people who had houses there still own that property and most do not want anyone walking on it. The neighborhood of Leilani discourages even parking your car anywhere near the cone. Those wounds are still fresh for those people
How to make chocolate video.

What an amazing journey your area is going through. While watching I'm always trying to imagine that as the streets and homes that used to be.
a lot of ups and downs

Lava doesn't "dry", it cools and solidifies...... just saying....
Still funny to hear though. Lots of people say it.
Great Video Gabe! Thank you for doing that. Watch out for the neighbors there! Happy Valentines Day!
Great video Gabe, it really gives a better idea of the height of F8
Mean. Lava turning into sand.
Acid rain turning my lawnmower into sand too. Aloha Gabe. Thx.
Aloha
Awesome, Happy Valentine's Day 😊
very good lot different to 6 months ago stay safe
You should defo do some more plant to product vids dude. They will be very popular.
Everybody gets a heart today
That was an amazing view from top of #8
Great video! happy valentine's day!
Happy Valentine's Day
It's crazy. Once a place of beauty, then a place of utter destruction , then a different place of beauty.
So since it's made of mostly tephra and it's so fragile, will the rain eventually erode the cone down? Or will it hold its shape like Kapoho Cone did?
it will stay that size for sometime. how long is hard to say. there are other cones near by from the 1955 flow
How big is fissure 8? Is it an acre, 2 acres?? Where is the lava river? How stable is what u were walking on? Mahalo
It beautiful but dangerous at the same time lol
It's interesting that the other fissure are still steaming but the core of F8 has stopped completely.
Amazing post. I was amazed to see that steam continues to be emitted through the tephra. Surely this could have ended in problems? Thanks for being so adventurous, though. I suspect that, like Mauna Ulu, lava will never be emitted again from this particular point.

Sweet, mahalo for the ride!
Great video! You may have answered this already, but I didn't think people were allowed to walk on the cone. What are the rules about that?
What determines the beginning and end of a fissure and where the next one starts?
It's all up to the USGS
My guess is the number of the fissures were based on the sequence they appeared.
like walking dunes in winter, to walk in that tephra stuff
Nice👍😎
Now we know where NASA gets the Mars video from. LOL
Great video, I watched all last summer.
Is there lava anywhere now.
Are these places open to the public? i wanna see the fissures as well as Kapoho next time I go.
Obbieboy Bayoneto nope
I saw somewhere the owner of the land was charging $100 per group to climb it. You are given one hour.
Great views from the top of fissure 8 !. I wonder just how long it will take for the heat to dissipate ?
Love from india

Cool video
It’s good to see you are doing well.
How is Cammy doing?
Also the man that was feeding the cats that were left
