I was on vacation there 3 weeks before all of this happened. It is surreal to see the neighborhoods we ventured near the park are gone and the park visitor's landmarks are closed forever. The good news is there are new landmarks to be explored.
I was at the park at about the same time as this video, the hot pools are gone, the boat launch is there but it goes into the new black sand beach which impressive, and growing daily. One of the life guards told me it changes every couple of days and may be double the size now in a year. Driving over those lava flows is great and they are 60 to 100 ft high. They have planted Coconut palms all over the top of the black sand beach , which in a few years will make it a real paradise .

Or is it still portrayed as a normal eruption, if not, any clues as to why this happened? I found the way this event was handled to be very suspicious. Live streams shut down, people banned from stopping to take a picture, tourists told its safe to climb or sail near it, constant statements on how normal everything is. The wording of all the news stories today.....It is like they are trying to paint the picture that this was all over a long time ago......I really cant help but dig into things when I notice deceptive behavior in the media

It happened because it’s a volcano, this is the Lower East Rift Zone, eruptions have happened in this same area before and it’s been active in different areas of the Rift for decades. No live streams were shut down, people were prevented from accessing it during the eruption because they’re too stupid to see the danger in 1800 degree lava. I agree it was handled poorly by our local Civil Defense and County government, but there’s nothing suspicious about an active volcano erupting...it’s what active volcano’s do. There is tilt activity to suggest that the magma is refilling the deep chambers again but no activity expected for a while. Gas is still mostly water vapor rather than CO2 or sulfur which means it’s very deep. She is only resting. She hasn’t left.
