What a talented cellist! Very great sensitivity. The work of Dvorak is highlighted in an exceptional way by the soloist as well as by the conductor and all the musicians of this orchestra. Beautiful discovery. Thank you.
"The melancholy second movement quotes a theme from one of Dvořák’s own songs, “Lasst mich allein” (German: “Leave Me Alone”). The song had been a particular favourite of the composer’s sister-in-law Josefina, who had recently died. Having loved Josefina before he consented to marry her sister Anna, Dvořák here paid tribute to his first love." (Wikipedia)
I can’t express enough the amount of tears that drop down my cheeks when I listen to this! NYP is playing this tomorrow morning and I’m taking a day off from school for my parents to take me and my sister so she can go see Hamilton and I go see the Philharmonic! Most emotional and best cello concerto out there!
Andy Milsten You are a truly great person. And a true musician. Anyone who would go to a performance of this masterpiece over a hyped up Broadway show is a world hero. Bravo. I too heard that same NYP program last Saturday night with the great Gautier Capuçon. I was front row, directly in front of him. Best live performance of a concerto I've ever heard in my life. Flawless cello playing of one of the very greatest pieces ever composed.
7:27 this was playing on a CD while I drove through my hometown of Ringgold, GA a few days after a tornado leveled almost the whole town. The devastation I saw mixed with this music really hit me and to this day, I can't help but be humbled and saddend when I listen to Jacqueline du Pre play this movement.
I'm in a teen-syphonic orchestra and i plsy de 1st frech horn. It's very heavy ! Listen to 6:20 . there is the hardest but also the "beautifulest" place!
@@frankstein9982 Now I'm studying french horn and you helped me to discover an ancient comment of mine - my English lmao :') Still love this piece so much!!!
This is divine - I have always considered there is some immeasurable magic with Dvorak and Truls Mork, a combination of sensitivity and passion that is breathtaking. Combine this with the excellent Bamburg Symphony and Jonathan Mott, and this is a treasure. Oh, what about the Finale? Is it possible to have it?
Thanks a lot for this :D I have to play this movement for a conduction class in my college and this is just too inspiring. Btw (sorry for being childish), Mr. Conductor, you stole my heart :)
one of the most beautiful slow movements ever written, a true master piece.
I couldn't agree more
Absolutely! It gives so much emotion... and more!
Magic....
What a talented cellist!

Very expressive performance by this great cellist with great accompaniment by the orchestra in his memorable Dvorak concerto
The most sublime Cello Concerto ever written . Always a joy to hear, whoever the artist.
Dvorak is seriously underrated. I love all his works.
Agree!
I also agree. Greetings from Prague, Czech republic, Dvorak's country 🙂👋
Underrated by who?
Il est sous-estimé par ceux qui ne connaissent pas la musique et n'a été sous-estimé par aucun de ses confrères compositeurs (de son vivant et après).

darren motise Even know the audience clapped in between the 1st and 2nd!
i am really jealous of you! can you describe your feeling when you were listening this masterpiece? if only i could listen to this concerto live ;-;
Berk Dilsizoğlu Well it feels like you’re in heaven when you’re in the hall! That’s the best description I can give!
@@albagubrath0098 Ive heard it with the Dvorak master himself (4 Months ago) with Truls Mørk, it was unbelievable.

The cello is one of my favorite instruments. And what other players feel the passion of the music this visibly?
Is this heaven?

I just saw the link about the third movement, but it would be great to see it with this orchestra and this conductor and this performance. 😊
This is so beautiful and moving.
Omiljeni Dvorzak~kad ti zvuci dusu dodiruju!
who cares about the third movement? this is so perfect and gorgeous on its own!
What? All the movements are astounding and glorious.
You should hear the whole concerto to grasp the message Dvorak is trying to convey. Cheers.
Wow, I didn't know Chris Parnell played clarinet!
¡Maravilloso!
One of the most haunting pieces of music ever written.
this movement alone is worth just as much as half of violin repertuare. ;)
Perhaps
This movememt is what got me into cello at a young age

the horn / double basses bit is a funeral march (I suspect you're no longer in teen-symphony...)

Right? Truls mork is one of my favorite cellists. Hey and it's almost spring at least.
