The look of appreciation he gives the principal flute around 19:24. So classy. So personal. I've always loved YoYo!
I guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot the login password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Tripp Douglas instablaster :)
More like 19:34, but thank you for mentioning that. I really loved seeing it!
That's way too random.@@trippdouglas4467
Oh that's a scam, cool.@@houstonvihaan7972
No one on this earth has the power to extract more tears from my face than Yo-yo Ma with that Cello
0:55 *I* (solo at 4:47)
17:08 *II*
29:08 *III*

i like how Yo-Yo is smiling all the time and making everything, all the hard work, so lively
how on god's green earth does this not have more views???
this is quite possibly the most "pretty" piece of classical music i've heard in a while
:-)
there are a lot of versions of it. They all have hundreds of thousands of views.
I love how energetic Yo-Yo Ma is. It always make me happy
Sautille, ricochet and octaves on the cello?? I'm a violinist and it blew me away when he did all these difficult techniques. Also the audience clapped between the movements; sacreligieous!
Perfectly reasonable to applaud after a blockbuster first movement of any concerto when the virtuoso has been particularly competent, let alone when one has just heard, in a small city in Canada, an inspired performance by the torch-bearer from Casals through Rostropovich.
Nothing like these comments to make people feel like they're not wanted in the world of classical music. SMH
@@TheRealCoryKent Quite the opposite, everyone is welcome and wanted here.
@@theresachen168 I'm referring to the comment saying clapping between movements being sacrilegious. People who are not versed on etiquette for performances shouldn't be criticized or made to feel bad for something that is really not harmful at all. Clapping expresses joy and appreciation. Nothing pleases God more than Gratitude for His work.
Comments telling someone or some people they are doing something heinous and awful would turn away many people. Thus, I stated, "making people feel like they're not wanted."
I play in an community orchestra, happen to be performing this lovely concerto this weekend - but I wish the audience WOULD be 'allowed' to applaud between movements! It gives the players a chance to take a breath, and every movement is worthy of appreciation!!! Yes, it's 'sacreligious' but those of us who are performers appreciate the .... appreciation!! :D
That cello concert is the endboss of Planung cello. Big Propst to yo yo ma
Always one of my favorite, my boy is also doing cello, I guess I pass this to him
This orchestra is great - just amazing, great conducting, I am in awe.
Yo-yo Ma has been an inspiration for the whole world. Thank you for sharing.
Yo-yo Ma, one of the greatest multi-talented musicians of our age. You should hear him playing traditional chinese music. He does here as an encore
Listen Gregor Piatigorvski
This is one of the many recordings I have listened to as of yet and I must say this is my favourite so far.
That was one of the most poignant and magnificent performances I've ever heart. Yo-Yo Ma seasoned in his tenure reminds me of why I want to be alive.
Beautiful, just beautiful
Oboe solos:
3:50 soloish part
6:35 I
11:45 II
14:10 III
Utterly marvelous. It’s one of the few concertos which I love all the movements at the same level. They are all outstanding, and the mindblowing ending can just not leave you disappointed.
It's too much, I love Yo-Yo Ma so much, and this piece!!! Hands on my heart, there are no words to express how I feel listening to this!
That was great!
WOW why oh why is anybody down-voting this. Masterful performance here of one of the finest classical pieces in human history. Y'all with the down-votes are nuts!
They dislike China
The whole orshestra do a good job here ❤
Such Awesome big sound, quality is impeccable 🙂
Beautiful. I am really enjoying listening and watching
Yes. Most beautiful music!

Tout simplement sublime.💝👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Calgary Phil. I really loved this!
Underrated Brass Players at The End !
WOW! BRAVO!!
Bravo!!!
AMO LA MUSICA CLASICAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE
A thoroughly mesmerizing experience, Master Ma delivers again. Bravo!
It is just like a great movie!!!!!👍
You are music. Wish to have words to describe what I feel,, what You make us feel, when playing and moreover this master piece. Thanks a lot, Yo -yo Ma, and orquestra.
참 좋습니다(very good)!
He must be very popular in Calgary; or was it because he came out to play an encore with a cowboy hat. Just a scene of involvement and enjoyment. The Appalachia Waltz is certainly a relaxing and enjoyable encore.
I’m going to go see him perform this in may, can’t wait to go see one of my hero’s!
Glad for you
MAGISTRAL ¡¡
I like yo yo ma's cello 😍 I love cellos
Its epic
It looks fantastic. It sounds just beautiful. Its almost perfect. But why you skiped the colour grading? Greetings from perfectionist Germany :p this recording is for eternity!
Life!!!
credit to the Calgary philharmonic - I plan on booking a flight from Denver this season to be at one their concerts
The guy playing second is fantastic.
Gražu nepaprastai💯
拉的好啊!太動人了
Beautiful, just beautiful
Oboe solos:
3:50 I
11:45 II

PAZ....SALUD......LIBERTAD.......FELI CIDAD
Too many ads. What a shame to put ads to this master piece.
I don't know how ANYONE could let go a damned cough at a concert like this, much less when the music is at it's lowest in volume!! Outrageous.
there's always one who has to share with everyone. The pig didn't even try to use a handkerchief
Sin PAZ y sin LIBERTAD NO hay SALUD ni FELICIDAD.........
I've grown quite wheareh
💯
I love it when he came out wearing a cowboy hat for the encore.
By the way, that cowboy hat is a tribute to Calgary tradition. Even the British royals like William and Kate wear cowboy hats while visiting Calgary.
4:47 is when the cello comes in, for those curious
In tears, as usual ;-) The encore peace sounds from the Highlands?
Take Note : Mic is placed on top angle down for best recordings.
🙏💙👏👏👏
Just love this. Well shot video. My "Girl Friend" practiced this piece in the Netherlands as an audition in the '80s.
FYI: Never date a professional Musician! She would practice the same part over, and over, and over....
thats the definition of practice
you do know why, right? It's to get it perfect... I'm certain that Yo-Yo Ma has played MANY parts over and over and over... that's why he's as amazing as he is!!
Not quite Jacqueline, but best rendition since!
Ma's vibrato is BB King-level good
Wonderful performance although the sound quality is not great.
This should be called "symphony for cello"; rather than "cello concerto".
Yo-Yo Ma: I work for Castleton Opera in Virgina
2:21 best part begins
okay but what is the encore? It's one of the most amazing things I've ever heard.
45:40
I know it’s a cliche that almost everyone takes the second theme so slow in the first movement but I just think it’s wrong. It’s not a slow movement and Dvorak has already written it slower by using long note values. I also understand that if you took it at the proper tempo, you wouldn’t get very far as a cellist. The same is true for the a-flat minor section which is the first theme. Again Dvorak has written longer note values, so it’s not necessary to take it even slower.
Dvořák?
Tipping my hat off to the staff who quietly let audience know that they should wait to clap at the end of the whole song not the movement ꒰ ˙ ꒳ ˙ ꒱◜🎩
Why is this concerto's credit is not to Calgary Philharmonic but to London Philharmonic?
What kind of tuxedo jacket is the conductor wearing?
Tailcoat with banded collar...
@@jonmelissamcclain5009 I'd love to know where to get one of those.
Even I would clap after than first movement
But you have to wait until the end

Outstanding performance, Ma is second only to Du Pre
Yo-yo hamming it up as usual. Ugh
Yo-yo Ma is an incredible gift giving person I love. His music heals my soul, body and mind.🙏
I think so, too.

For everyone who thinks the cello is quiet, are you listening to it on your phone? If so, I don’t think a tiny phone speaker can truly capture the range and expression of a cello. Try casting it to your television or listening to it on headphones. I feel like his instrument is pretty well balanced with everything else that’s going on. If that doesn’t help, listen more carefully or find another recording. Thank you and have a good day.
