I made the same request of the guests at my wedding, and made it very clear on the run up to the Big Day that nobody was to have their phones out during the ceremony
Ok question...I have a 85mm f1.8, and a 35mm f1.4. Should I get a 50mm f1.4 or an 85mm f1.4? Or should I get something like a 24-70mm f2.8 or 70-200mm f2.8? Right now, mainly doing family portraits, but hoping after the success of my first beach elopement session, that I can start easing into more wedding sessions in the future.
85mm 1.4 will be nice. I use 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, and 135mm 2.0. I also have 24-70mm 2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8. I love primes better for shaper images and for low light.
Everyone will learn from you a lot! You lucky dude with those clouds (I sweat already, when there were non-cloudy sky at start of the big day). My fav photo is that one where couple sits next to window after the ceremony! Other superb shots too! Enjoying the color-world with the photos and with this lence and cam combo. Take care and keep the vibes up!
With the go pro or whatever’s on top of the camera my first thoughts was a go pro on a dog and all you see is his nose . Sorry still looks great and shows great info .
Have you looked at the Fv mode? I'm running auto ISO, shutter speed with a minimum of 1/125 but also on auto, aperture set as low as I want ( not auto) and leave the adjustment wheel on the exposure comp. Roll that up or down if the light is crazy but mostly it stays in the center. All set to C1. C2 is 1/500 min shutter but auto also. I still default to full manual in controlled situations but seeing how this setup works to see how much I can trust it. Cheers.
How do you match editing styles between the first and second photographer? Also with different cameras? Always just the same preset or it’s ok if there are a mix of styles?
Great Video and awesome shots. I would be interested in how you deal with hard light from behind. Most of the time my subjects look pretty „glowy“ at the edges and I can‘t really figure out good settings for that.
Typical print size for 99.5% (or higher) of wedding images is an iPhone screen sadly haha. From a 20megapixel file, especially one from this system you can easily go 30x40inch print if processed properly.
My guess is 2 things. I actually think for some of the shots he was above 1.2 and/or the new canon sensors have greatly improved dynamic range which helps in post.
Im using the ef version with adapter, and it performs quite well! good alternative you can pick up for under 1000 used and still get amazing shallow dof 85mm shots with!
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto Dude.. I know what you mean. I enjoy the sound of the shutter going off, its very satisfying. Nothing to be complaining about, but a louder shutter would had been nice.
I love watching your wedding day videos. This one didn't show your settings on a the images, is there a reason you did not include them in this one? For the ceremony, did you shoot in low aperture the whole time? Also, what settings do you normally use when the bride and group are leaving the alter?
This was awesome! Loved every single shot. I know I asked a while back about auto ISO - and you said you never use it; what conditions for this wedding required you to opt for that? And given the harsh light - what did you do for white balance - if you don't mind me asking? Great video!
White balance was on cloudy. R6 tends to go a bit cooler than I prefer. For auto iso, I think with dslr it’s important to keep it locked down since you can’t see what’s happening real time. Mirrorless you can just override it quickly if you see anything weird happening. Canon R6 metering is really accurate though
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto Thanks for the response - I also asked in the member group as I assumed it would be better there so no need to answer again. Appreciate the response. Loved every single shot.... you are amazing!
AWESOME!!! Man i wan to get the R6, but I feel like I should buy the R5, just for the fact that i feel like it might hold up longer down the road... right now I cant afford either lol so all I can do is save and pray
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I don't do as much video but I really want to, I've been shooting small events, a few weddings and I've gotten by with my beginner 80D and I'm now just really trying to upgrade because I have full frame glass like my 85 1.8 is my favorite but it's so tight. I know I should just keep getting more glass but knowing about how great these new R cameras are really kills me every time I have to tell my model hold on 1 sec while I focus and recompose 😣
The HB Mark 1 Eyeball. They come with all those IBIS goodies. The color science is literally the best you've ever seen. They don't overheat, and the memory is pretty extensive. You can record at like 2 second shutter speeds and still get a sharp image. The auto focus is extraordinary. AND you get two of them for free!
@@mesembsgardenmalaysia891 And yet there are still morons who answer this question haha... Oh well gear chasers help drive competition so professionals don't need to spend as much I guess
Hey king of photography (Nikon boy) I like your all videos. If I have capacity than I will meet with you and take some technique that you've use your photography brain.
Yea but 35 is not that great for portraits or i would say not ideal but so far 85 was the best for portraits for me as well on street photography under certain situations
I noticed not one single phone was out during the wedding ruining the shots. That was a request from the wedding party or you Taylor?
Tropikal Sunshine Typically, it’s from the couple. I know it was at my niece’s wedding!
I'd definitely push for it as a photographer too. You can spin it as a better guest experience.
I made the same request of the guests at my wedding, and made it very clear on the run up to the Big Day that nobody was to have their phones out during the ceremony
Just purchased the R6! Using the RF 24-70 F2.8 IS. First wedding with this camera tomorrow! Thanks for the tips!
what i love about the 85mm idea is that you are able to get more candid shots due to being able to take a step back and not be in peoples faces.
Nice work! A wedding with only an 85mm seems daunting. Did you struggle with any group or indoor shots at that focal length?
Love the Army Green 4R TRD PRO!.....and the 85 1.2 too
F
for the group shot at angle, you still used 1.2? amazing
Loved the whole set of that wedding, gorgeous couple, gorgeous colours, and amazing lens. Greetings from Colombia.
Why didn't you guys bother to setup any external flashes in the shade?
Do you shoot in raw or C
I loved that you displayed your settings for us viewers, kudos!
NEWWWWW PRESETSSSSS! Love these walk through vids
That green looks really damn good on your 4 Runner.

Love this. This May be one of my favorites ever!
Where are you running the go pro at?
Would you recommend the R6 as a vlogging camera for females or is it too heavy/bulky?
The Lofi in this video Fire with the conversations in between ! Just a vibe
Are you shooting in full electronic shutter mode with reduced bit size? I don‘t hear the shutter, not sure if one can actually.
Probably cRaw but I’m always in mechanical shutter

Did you use any ND filters on your lens?
I absolutely love how you frame your shots 👍🏼💕
How are you filming these? How are you attaching what you are filming with to your camera?
Did they hire 2 photographers or was she your 2nd shooter? R6, 85mm 1.2 only, cool 😊
Amazing shots brotha
your so chill, and great at teaching. also, loved the shots, i am learning alot here! thanks for doing this!!

How are you doing this video?? I don’t see anything mounted on your camera ??
Love this video❤️❤️

love that i just stumbled across this! first wedding solo in 7 days! what are you recording behind the scenes with? a gopro possibly? thanks !
How did your first solo wedding go?!?!?
Great video! I Would love to hear your thoughts on the Canon RF 85mm f2 macro and compared to some other 85mm lenses closer to 1k price range
nice !! use focus eye or single point focus??
Great video!! Fantastic work and images. I loved the Secret Present #1, so beautiful.
no over heating issue for you?
Only one lens? Wow! How near to the ceremony (bride, groom) are you normally allowed?
Pure skills
What ND filter did you use? Thank you.
I don’t usually use an ND for much of the
Awesome photos.
Incredible pics!! You are a fantastic photographer!! Is this lens good enough for landscape photos as well? Appreciate your response!
Love the Toyota 4Runner.
How you mount other camera on your mirrorles?
Love the Secret Presets 😂
love this- thanks for sharing
my go to one lens for wedding would be 50mm f1.2
what setting mode did you use to shoot this wedding
I’m usually on manual, but aperture priority with auto iso is fine as well
Hope you don't mind me asking, but is there possibly a secret preset that you will be releasing sometime soon, say for example on October the 1st?
Very secret. No one knows
I’m going to take full credit for you learning about the Samyang RF lenses 😂 Not tempted to try their 85mm?
I'm really liking those new presets!!
This video deserved 1M views.
Great Video and awesome shots.

I missed those videos!!
Beautiful dress
What a great video!! The photos came out amazing and I'm looking forward to your new preset.
How do you feel about the 20mp? Do you find yourself wanting more? Especially since the R5 has over double that.
Don’t need anything beyond 20 for weddings really
Is this based on the typical print size of wedding images?

nice shots! Ever think about using a polarizer for some of those shots?
may i ask how do you place your gopro onto your camera? thank you
Love these videos. Loving my R6 much like you my man.
Bro suggest me a grt wedding photography gig between canon EOS r vs canon R6. Thx
@@TheStella0 I’m not sure what your asking.
Taylor what you can say about highlights and shadows, the EOS R is excellent on highlights recovery, R6 is the same?
Diego Pisante I saw in another video that the R6 has a tendency to blow out highlights.
85 or 28-70 ?
did u use a nd-filter for a wide open aperture or was the 1/8000 enough for this bright sunlight?
My guess is 2 things. I actually think for some of the shots he was above 1.2 and/or the new canon sensors have greatly improved dynamic range which helps in post.
Hello .. is your presets for free or its part of the membership deal?
You can buy them outright or get them as part of the membership for cheaper

This is like the lens I want more than any other. Too bad by the time I can afford it camera's will probably be all holographic or something.
😂 true that Ryan

Did you shoot the whole wedding on electronic shutter?
Nope. Just regular mechanical. It’s quiet too. Strangely quiet

Do you have a video with your thoughts on the R6?
It's free or have a payment? From Philippines sir

Everything this day was at 1.2 and auto iso, so settings weren’t super important. Outside I would have been at 1/8000th shutter. Inside 1/250ish
Have you given up on the nikon z5?
It’s still great, and a way better option than the R6 for hybrid coverage
Plz give me suggestion 85 1.2 vs 85 1.2 ds lens

F1.2 its really awesome If I get this one! fully dream
so you used silence mode at the ceremony and you have bending on the bride...you are an expert ;)
What shutter speed ?
Faster than 1/80th and slower than 1/8000
