We finally found one.. The GOAT of Ford Mustangs, this legendary SVT Terminator Cobra is about to come up for bid at the salvage auction! It's rough, but in all the right ways.
With my Boss 302 project nearing completion, it might be time to tackle a Terminator rebuild. What do you guys think, do we go for it? Or maybe we should try something completely new like an e46 M3 or C7 Z06?

If an newer model mustang says Mach 1 and it doesn’t have the recaros it’s most likely a replica or an build to order, because all of the ones that were made to dealer specs were optioned with recaros

@@nickromano25 big money. Hardest part is finding parts. My rear knuckle was broke in my IRS. It’s cheaper to soild Axle it than just buy a damn knuckle. They go for 2 grand seriously

Honestly - chassis wise a 2000-04 Cobra is a great platform to build off of...... Engine wise, look I'm a purist, I'm never going to knock a 4.6 Termi, but because the parts are still (now 20 yrs later) damn near original OEM pricing, its just about as expensive as a modern engine swap, so if I was going to "restomod" a Terminator, eh I would at least go wrecked GT500 5.2 Predator with the DCT, at least then you are still living up to the Shelby nostalgia

@@hank1556 in great condition, sure, I bought a 2004 with 100k miles and a “blown” motor for 12k. Motor had a cracked valve, so instead of rebuilding it I just tore it down and sold it for parts, put a new engine in it and all in I’m in for 18k making 540 to the wheels. Most cars are cheap if you can find a good candidate for a rebuild
The terminator has been my dream car since they came out. I was in high school.. I’m 38 now and finally purchased one last month! I have a GT350 now, but I still think about the terminator I had. If it wasn’t for money problems I’d still have it.

I own a terminator and it really is such an awesome car, you will literally never get bored of a cobra if you buy one lol. Also with a proper exhaust setup it has the meanest exhaust note from a v8 I’ve ever heard
Fords 4.6 is one of the best sounding engines with good exhaust.

This makes me miss my old terminator that I had gotten years ago for a steal i had got it back in 2014 for only 2800$ one owner in pristine condition with only 50k miles on it and clean title ( person I had bought it from had a major crack addiction and had owned money to their drug dealer and sold me the car) which I then whippled and meth injected and sold a year later for $45,000 and an 2008 Ducati monster at my friends dealership

It would have to be dirt cheap for a rebuild otherwise it’s a good donor car for a bad one that isn’t totaled
A good guesstimate would be 20 grand and that might even be low

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I'd suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. The final bid was 14k on that Cobra. Insane for that kind of damage.

I've mentioned this before, but I don't know how feasible this would be legally, financially, or logistically considering you have a business to run, but I'm thinking the craziest salvage auction visit anyone could ever do would be to fly to Portugal, charter a boat, and explore the wreck of the Felicity Ace. I'm thinking you could use an unmanned remote submersible with a camera to get down there.
If their luxury cars at the bottom of salty sea water I think they'll be a lost cause.
Lee back in the day I had an 03 Silver GT! Since I am a perfectionist I didn't feel the original paint job was good enough! So when someone backed into the door it gave me an excuse. I went to the local yard and bought a complete door. The worst part of getting this style of Mustang ready to paint is to do it really right you have to remove the roof cladding and paint it separate. Also since the repaint is crap over the original paint a lot of extra stripping is needed. To do it right would be some work. To make a long story short I went the extra mile to really prep this Mustang right and it turned out really well but doing it right was a lot of work!
That C5 was 100% a drift missile and probably got totaled by a bad drift

@@shauncollins2017 Serious question, why on earth would you pay more than $5000 for this car? It's a new edge Mustang at the end of the day. They ran high 12s in 2004....nothing impressive lol.
@SpeedDemon88X Because like they referenced in the video, I was buying it to keep it. When you're buying something to flip it, yea I would of only wanted to spend $5000-$7000 because it needs $3-$4000 worth of repair on a car that's worth maybe $16-$18,000.
The good thing about the airbag system (srs) in the new edge mustang is that all you need is both airbags and srs module which is located underneath the dash
I owned a 2003 v6 as my drift car. I was born 03 and the 03 termy 2v has always been my favorite car that ford ever produced 😮💨

I bought my 10th anniversary cobra at copart. Paid 12k. Vmp blower and all. Deals can be found but luck helps. I was bidding on prob 10+ cars before I got one
Suggestion for a build: E36 m3 with an e39 m5 v8 and rear axle installed… they were dope back in the day in amateur endurance racing but I’ve never seen one on the road (I’m in Europe btw). Really enjoy what you all do, thx.

For everyone that loves Terminator 4 Valve cobra goodness....there are 2 guys that have a youtube channel that have taken a V10 Triton truck engine and custom fabricated a set of 03-04 cobra 4 Valve heads to fit the V10 and currently they have started it, and are now working on the rest of the build....does anyone here remember the snake bite cobra youtube video from years ago? 😂

for ceramic brake rotors, you simply sell the 3 good ones and replace them with steel ones.
Passenger door on silver hellcat lat call , looks like a different shade of silver . That might have something to do with the buckle in rear quarter

That mach 1 probably went to the track, spun out as mustangs do, went off the track backwards plugging that exhaust, spun around, wheels dig into the dirt and car gets flipped over causing the damage on the roof
You guys really have a lot of performance cars at your auction. I don't seem to see as many locally. With that, the E46 is incredible! Mostly light damage. I don't like that newer M nearly as much personally.

You can always get a cowl hood for the Mustang lol they look good with them and the cobra bumper are cheap lol fenders you can get them from v6

My best friend's mom got him a Cobra when we went to college. He taught me how to drive a manual in it. That was 2001 and he still has that car.

That cobra with 192k miles is only worth 10k at the most with savage title since it’s a hard top it it was a convertable in that shape it would be 5k at the most

The good about Huracans is that R8 parts fit especially on the metal radiator support.
Terminators FTW!!! TO be honest the front bumper cover is the cheaper part... since they are available aftermarket. The rear bumpers command much more money sometimes $1K because nobody makes them. Even the hoods you can find or you can go aftermarket. I'm a fan of the yellow too.. more of the Screaming Yellow in 04 vs the Zinc Yellow that 03 has.. but if you have the time, money and motivation that would be a great project to build it you way
