    We all know John Farnham can sing any genre and it does it so well... his warm up song was "Black dog"

    Not that i would compare these two to anyone one else...but John in particular could be anyone you wanted him to be. He can sing Led Zeplin songs with more range than Robert Plant, he can sing Queen songs and never miss a note unlike Freddie who could often be pitchie. He can sing Stevie Wonder songs with as much soul and feeling as the great man himself. He can sing ACDC songs with even more grit and range ...he sings Jazz as smooth as Ray Charles...he can match Tom Jones as a crooner and has done duets with many of these legends over the years. He has sung everything from opera, pop, rock and roll, heavy rock, pop rock, pub rock, country, ballads, comedy, musical theatre, acted on TV...he's probably the most versatile singer entertainer the world has ever had...even though he is mostly only well known in Aus and Europe.
    To top it off, when Stevie Nix double billed with John Farnham she complained that she didn't realise she had to go up against the Frank Sinatra of Australia. And John outsold Michael Jackson when they were touring Australia at the same time.
    Just some interesting tid bits for you.

    Thanks for reacting to a few John Farnham songs. You really need to watch him live in concert. The songs with the Melbourne symphony orchestra especially are phenomenal 🥰❤️ you won't regret watching and reacting. You're spot on about John's vocal range and flexibility. I know the other person didn't seem to be very aware. But John can belt notes that I can't even reach (belting). He can also control the level of grittiness in his voice. Just such a master vocalist. Jimmy is good. But he just has that one sound and his range doesn't compare to John's.

    Happy Birthday Jimmy Barnes for the 28th April ❤🎉
    They did this song in the early 90's. Cold Chisel performed it in 1980's. My favourite version in from the Rockapalast concert in Germany in 1982. Ian Moss sang the first verse and Jimmy sings after, and sings the higher part. Simply superb 🎉🎉🎉
    As for Jimmy and John, they are both legends. They respect each others craft and complement each other. The 🎸 guitarist also has an excellent voice. He was lead singer for Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. He was actually born in the US, but was raised in Western Australia. He married Jimmy's wife's sister. Johnny Diesel also goes by the name Diesel, or his real name of Mark Lizotte.

    This is great, live version FANTASTIC!!!!!The story goes, that they were both so pissed after this, that John could not remember his address for the driver to be able to take him home.

    The guitarist is a guy called Mark Lizzotte aka Johnny Diesel or just Diesel - who had a really good career. If I remember rightly he's Jimmy Barnes brother in law. Fun reaction guys.

    Great Song, great clip, but to get the true grit, always do live, this was not only the first time John and Jimmy had ever sung together, it was the first time they had ever met, but, I repeat - always do live, and Thankyou for reacting.

      Yes, LIVE is the best! Barnsey & Farnsey bounce off each other and add-lib adding so much more grit and squeals, great mates who acknowledge each others talent.

      Both have incredible ranges covering multiple octaves and many styles.
      Jimmy is Australia's all time ROCK Superstar, but even he admits that John is the voice......and always better live, especially his covers of AC/DC and Led Zepplin live with the MSO ( Melbourne Symphony Orchestra ).
      Jimmy actually has a sweet voice for rock, but prefers to belt with maximum gravel......then use a high head voice that sounds like a quality AfroAmerican female soul singer......some have compared that voice to Aretha Franklin and others .
      Recommend Jimmy's duet with Tina Turner, Simply The Best or One Long Day with Cold Chisel..... always live of course.
      For pure feral performance, Wild Thing from Cold Chisels 1983 final tour, The Last Stand.
      John was our teeny bopper pop idol from 1967 and was not accepted as a serious adult performer until he became a top class musical theatre star in the 1970's.
      Then not accepted as an adult solo singer until the 1980's and The Voice, Help and many others.
      Then he brained everyone in the 1990's performance of Jesus Christ Superstar.
      Check out Gethsemane from a live performance......so good he was invited to perform it on Broadway.

    While this is a great video their LIVE stage performance for the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards is absolutely brilliant. They do more vocal gymnastics and the 'a capella' at the end ( which was not in this clip) is BEAUTIFUL . Most of those singer comparisons that you suggested could not sing in the over 20 genres that John can sing or in the range both he and Jimmy can sing.

  • @MargaretGuppy

    Have you heard John Farnham singing Led Zeppelin's, Black Dog? A sound check that was recorded without the band's knowledge. They all are epic! John has so many to react to (and all brilliant, such a variety of genres, from rock to pop, with a bit of soul, musical theatre, ballads and even opera): you will be here for a year! John also sings with his whole (longtime) band (no instruments) - Stevie Wonder's: Loves in Need. All well worth the time.

    Love to see you reacting to John and Jimmy, but gotta say, please always listen to John Farnham live, it's just leaps and bounds better than studio recordings, and honestly, Jimmy is as well.
    As far as brilliant voices go, lots of people can sound great in a studio, but these guys don't need studio wizardry to sound good. John Farnham particularly will hit every note and more live as he does in the studio, and he'll hit it with more power and emotion. His consistently pitch and tone perfect live performances, as well as his stage presence and charisma, are a large part of the reason he is so revered, and something that sets him apart from many other great singers.
    Here is a fantastic live version of this song for you to enjoy, and react to if you want: th-cam.com/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/w-d-xo.html

    To compare John Farnham & Jimmy Barnes to North American or UK artist even that both are influenced by international giants their counterpart are still mostly Australian artist
    For example Jimmy Barnes with his own brother-in-law Diesel , Richard Clapton .
    John Farnham
    with Daryl Braithwaite and Tina Arena which she be the female equivalent to John’s range .
    With international artist

    * John Cougar Mellencamp
    * Bryan Adams
    * Jon Bon Jovi
    * Tina Turner
    Jimmy Barnes’s band Cold Chisel international equivalent to Lynyrd Skynyrd but better .
    John Farnham’s international equivalent with vocals
    * Freddie Mercury ( rumoured John was Freddie’s own first choice to replace himself after his death ) Freddie was a fan )
    * Robert Plant ( John has used Black Dog ( Led Zeppelin) as a warm up song before a concert .

    This isn't Johns main style of music although Johns capable of singing, ive heard, any type of music. This style is more in Jimmys ball park. These two perform together with at least one other song but John has sung with many other singers including Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Olivia and Opera with Anthony Warlow - a must see.

    Biggest word of advice fellas! Do not watch "Official Videos" of Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham of even Diesel (On guitar and vocally joining in), as they do not do them justice at all! Source the "Live" version of everything they do! It will show you just how damn good they are!

      No, they wanted him 😂 he but chose to stay in Australia. John Lennon also wanted to sing Help the way John did. Celine Dion has loved John for over 20 years and actually calls him The Voice and performed You're the Voice with him in 2018 and fangirled him in one if her concerts. Cold Play also asked him to perform You're the Voice with them and in his 70s he could still belt those notes out 😂❤ Then there's Tom Jones, Stevie Wonder,Elton John amongst others that say he is one of the best of all time. He can sing any genre. 🎉😂❤

    • @Saan42
      @Saan42 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Falsetto is different from chest or head voice. Most people have a large range if you are taking falsetto into account, and John can also go higher when he does falsetto. John's range is considered so great because he can hit very high notes at full power without using falsetto.
