This has changed with progressive!!! They only require a down payment now, they went back to financing... I literally just got off the phone with them an hour ago as a brand new car hauler owner operator.

Sorry to ask. You said 40k a year ? So if you make 150k in revenue a year its like 30% insurance.30% gas.10% maintenance..

Please explain to us if the insurance includes the truck insurance, and if not how does the truck insurance works? Does it has to be commercial? how does the registration works? Does it has to show more than 26000 pounds? Thank you

Quick couple of questions: looking to start out in the business. Retired from Army of 24 years in northern NY, got a ram 3500 dually,. Due to driving all kind of vehicles in the Army I was able to get my CDL-A with a waiver, just took the written test. I get asked how long have I had my CDL for, and I tell them a week but have been driving for the Army 24+ and they kind of back away a bit. Getting a quote on insurance has been a pain in the ass, I have the experience, hell I have the experience and then some in certain situations. How do I get around it? 2nd question - what is the benefits of having a broker on speed dial? Can they get me better loads nad manage my time better so I don't have down time and that I have loads lined up while I am delivering a load? 3rd and final question - What is the best way to find a load? What boards should I be looking at? Who should I be contacting? Is there somewhere I can look for Owner Operators looking to bring people on under their authority, just to get started?
I appreciate all of your time and efforts. Don't have a trailer right now, Money is a bit tight to purchase, get my LLC, my own authority, and insurance without going in the hole, and residing in NY does not help. Trying to find local dump truck driving for now. Thank you for all of your assistance, anything will help.
    Safe travels

Very informative thanks for answering my question. If you don't mind answering another one. If I have my own truck and trailer what are the ins-and-outs of joining someone's operating Authority. Would it be more beneficial in your eyes working for someone like you first or trying to just break out as an owner operator. Thanks again Derek.

I've been transporting equipment and vehicles for years for people I know. I own my own trucks and trailers as well. I've been wanting to start my own company but the cost of insurance is just criminal I have a cdl and have never been in an accident but even so with the cost for a year I could buy a brand new Denali 3500. Doesn't seem to be a way for me to get in the door for a logical amount of money. I would need to immediately pull in 15k a month to not end up in the red. Do you have any tips for getting a better insurance cost? I still have a bit of hope left but each exorbitant quote slowly snuffs the life out of the desire to even enter the world of hotshotting.

Hey! Thanks for the videos. I appreciate the time you take to put them together and post them. I am doing preliminary work on getting a hot shot business going and haven't decided on freight or autos yet. Your videos add another thought to the puzzle. I like the idea of running an enclosed car hauler. I live in Utah. Any thoughts or suggestions on potential loads in the western half of the U.S. ? Just wondering if there is enough work to be profitable. Thanks and keep the videos coming.

We can help new Hot Shot Haulers and drivers get their insurance! We assist Auto Haulers like yourself as well. In Miami, FL we typically see new businesses getting rates under $28K/Year/Unit on the $1,000,000 Auto Liability and $100,000 Cargo with a Federal Filing from an A rated insurance carrier. This is assuming you have a valid Class A CDL, you don't have any claims, have less than 1 accident in the past 5 years, less than 1 major violation, and less than 3 minor violations in the past 5 years. This would come with financing payment plans as well. The majority of the time we can get 20%-25% on the down payment with 9-10 monthly payments. We are also not just limited to Progressive and we have insurance carriers that can also do new ventures with drivers with less than a year experience in the Auto Hauling and Hot-Shot Hauling sector.
Our goal is to give you the best possible service and not waste your time so we make the insurance process streamlined so it is easy as possible. We hope to hear from you all soon!

Would Miami/fort Lauderdale area be a good place to live doing this or would north Florida be better? And can I get going in Tennessee, insurance and all and leave it all set up here without moving the home base to Florida? And what's my potential income with a 4 car hauler and being home on weekends? I keep hearing Florida is a awful state for hotshoting but better for cars but that's where my wife and I want to live.
