This is beautiful! Well done! A simple way to make the center: 1. trace the circle onto the interfacing. 2. Place the interfacing right sides together with the white fabric. 3. Stitch on the circle line with your sewing machine. 4. Trim around the circle with pinking shears. 5. Carefully slit the interfacing only. Turn the circle right side out and press. 6. Now it’s ready to appliqué however you want. (IMPORTANT: If you use iron on interfacing, don’t press until it’s in the exact place you want it to be permanently. Then press. If you use non-iron on interfacing, then you can press the circle before you place it.) I look forward to seeing more of your creations! 🌷
Love your tutorials, I have just subscribed. Please could you show measurements in inches too. Though I live in the UK and we use the metric system, all the quilt patterns are in inches (imperial), therefore all my measuring templates and rulers are in inches.
Use a piece of aluminium foil to gather the edges instead of tacking stitch. Put it on the outside and pull up. Find the diameter with a paper circle, cut the paper into a curve, add seam allowance and use that curve to cut your outer block edges? May work easiest on your 2nd unit?
I ended up with my points meeting at the outer edge of the circle. No room for a seam allowance because I will cut off all the points. I have a picture but I don’t think I can upload it. This is such a beautiful block, but I’m having a real problem with the measurements and the angles. I will try again.

@@Patchworkwithachide your edges were not rounded smoothly, maybe they would be with foil?
