Hey Tango, I'm in search of a better flap handle than the stock rebel handle and so it was nice to spot what you installed. Would you be kind enough to explain where you found the one you are using in your video? It looks simple and appears to work well.
Unfortunately I can't answer that. I bought the airplane as a project, I did not build it. I will take a closer look at the mechanism today and see if there is a name on it anywhere for you to chase down.
They do, you are right. So do Maules, Citabrias, 120's, 140's and loads of others. I'm not saying that spring gear isn't a good landing gear, I am saying that for better rough terrain handling; really rough stuff, you get better stability and ride with a shock mounted gear that is able to soak up impact from rough strips. th-cam.com/video/mi5k6WOwmX4/w-d-xo.html Thanks for the comment! I have a Rebel as well here are a few suggestions. On your pitot it looks like you have your static air on it but I wasnt able to see it very well in your video.. Many/most Rebels put the jjust vent the static in the cabin, I would try that before changing your ASI. It seems that the most Rebels that I have seen have a pitot sticking our of the leading edge but the vent side air just remains in the cabin or on a static port on the side of the cabin. It kind of looks like your Pitot is slightly pointing down but it is hard to see in the video but i think that is to critical. Your top cowl looks great now but when you redo the bottom make sure you leave a large exit for air escape.
Thanks for the input. The static port is located on pitot probe. That line is also clear and clean. Getting good reading on VSI for example. I tested the deck angle for the pitot with a tell tale on the probe and it appears that the probe should be getting ram air OK at high angles of attack. Airplane sat for 7-8 years. I suspect after testing that the ASI is just toast. Not too expensive so a new one is coming. Which engine in your Murf? Which prop? Cruise speed?
@@TangoSierra2022 When I built mine it started with a Subaru, I flew for around 250 hours then it sat for about 8 years. This past December I have bought a 0 timed Lycoming O-320 and am in the process of putting it in now. I also bought the ground adjustable Sensenich Carbon fiber prop for it. I am located in Northwestern Ontario and will fly floats in the summer and skis in the winter. With the Subaru I cruised around 95 on floats and could climb 1500-1700 FPM. I am expecting better numbers with the Lycoming.
Enjoyed.
That's a real nice plane,I would love to fly one 😊
You should!
Murphy rebel is a Canadian Cessna 150/150 Texas tail dragger with 10more horsepower and a few more additions.
Certainly tons better performance than the 150's I have flown. I have 160HP.
Most impressive ... can't wait till you get the speedo figured out and get some numbers ... excellent video .. Oh and the top cowl redo looks perfect
Many thanks. UPS has been telling me I would receive my ASI "tomorrow" for three days. Hopefully back up and running this weekend.
How was your OFF the beaten Path week out in the woods? Did get everything ready for summer?
Not quite done, going back up this week, more fun to be had along the way. Stay tuned!!

Don't the 180's and 185"s have spring steel.gear?

Sorry I misstyped I don't think that the angle of your pitot is to critical. Could you give us a picture or some closeup of the Pitot tube itself.

Planning the 150% rule when the lower cowl gets done. Also a an air dam to help lower the pressure.
