    Very nice video. I started my Rebel about 15 years ago, but was delayed for personal family reasons. Just getting back to work on it now. Have a Lycoming O-320 for power. Three of my friends built Rebels, two with floats. It's a terrific little performer with great load carrying ability. I'm in the Hamilton area.

      Thanks, I hope you find the time to finish it. It's worth it. After you get it flying let me know if you need to practice on a 900 foot runway with trees on both ends. You will get to know exactly what your rebel can and can't do! keep in touch.

    Thanks Frank. Yes, after I posted the question I came across another of your videos showing the EA81. I have one here too, together with an unproven geared reduction unit that were both intended by another builder for a Karatoo but I haven't yet decided whether I will use it on my Rebel. Not any where near that decision point yet.

    Nice. I wish my elite would fly like that

    Great video. Very nice flying plane. My neighbour had one. I fly a Bushcaddy with 80hpRotax 912UL and no flaps, but have always wanted a Rebel for a bit more weight carrying and more power (and flaps!).

    Sounds right. That's how I started too. Might have to part with my Rebel soon. I have Van's RV 9 fever!

    I agree Frank, it sounds great and from the video, very stable. What motor do you have in it?

      Thank Bill,
      I have been flying behind the little Subaru (EA-81 1800cc). Although this engine may not be for everyone, it has served me well and is running strong after 300 hours. Great fun, low cost, low fuel burn!

    That was an impressive display of hands off flying, very well mannered aircraft. I wish my Pelican flew that well :) And thank you for NOT putting music over it. How wide is the cabin? It looks like you could have a dance in there!

      +Darryl Braun Thanks, I am impressed every time we go upstairs! "well mannered" is very fitting. She has saved me from embarrassment on numerous occasions. forgiving would be another fitting quality. Cabin is around 44 inches if I remember correctly, plenty of room (looks a little bigger with the GoPro wide angle than it actually is)

    Great video!! about how much fuel does it use / hr with the Subaru and how does it compare weight wise( the engine) with a rotax four stroke? thanks for your time.

      Not sure if you have seen my other video on rpm/manifold press/fuel burn?
      th-cam.com/video/s-DYCMzUCxk/w-d-xo.html
      I don't have a fuel flow instrument but I can tell you that it sips fuel. I put 5 gallons in and fly for a couple hours easy. Most of my flying is done at 3600 rpm and sometimes I loaf around at 3100 rpm. If I want to get someplace than I will spin it up to 3750 or 3800 but I rarely need more.

    Did that motor turn the other direction?

    • @frankarndt9633
      @frankarndt9633  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, that all depends on your perspective! It is a geared auto engine and the propellor turns counter clockwise in the cockpit. So I like to think that Lycomings turn the other way.

      Nice. I flew trikes with 2cycle Rotax mmotors eons ago. Same story from what I remember

    Hi how is the rebel on long fligjts

    • @frankarndt9633
      @frankarndt9633  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you consider a long flight. My flights are usually only an hour long or so but I would have no issue with 2 or 3. Kind of noisy inside so I'm adding a rear baggage area bulkhead and adding some foam sound absorption panels to the interior this winter. Also upgrading from 80-90 HP hp to 130 HP so I can make better time over ground. Hoping to get cruise speed from 90 mph to 110 mph.

    Would you like to sell it or do you know of another well-made one for sale? Nice handling!

    • @frankarndt9633
      @frankarndt9633  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure I'm ready to part with her yet. it's simply the cheapest safest flying I could ever wish for. They do come up for sale, but sell quickly if priced right. keep your eyes open, one will come up.
