You will understand when it is time for you to watch "The Greatest Show On Earth" live in Tampere and the way they walk off stage after it. But we are not there jet... next stops for you should be "Dark Chest Of Wonders", as I said, the opener to this amazing evening and "Song Of Myself", also from Wacken 2013.

Hearing their last album human:nature I think this is neither symphonic metal or rock, Nightwish is above that, they created something new, awesome, so no categories of the past will fit anymore, agree? I think, in 20 or 30 years they will be some of the rare bands remembered to evolve music as Pink Floyd did.

When people ask what is the best song of Wacken 2013. My answer is yes. 15 songs of perfection.

"Ghost River" (not to be confused with "Ghost Love Score"). Great interplay of vocals between Marco and Floor, with Marco (you know him as "Otis" lol) growling the chorus and Floor singing angelic soprano. Floor is beyond amazing, of course, but Marco is a great singer in his own right. Very catchy, killer bass line.
Speaking of Pink Floyd covers, Nightwish does a cover of "High Hopes" that is truly sick in which Marco solos.

Last time I went through Atlanta was to get from I20 up to Huntsville, AL. THANK GOD for GPS .. up 85 those damn road numbers painted on the road sucks basically!! I came back via Hwy 27 (I think) .. you Altantaians are just plain nuts to drive there!! Must have been hell on earth when that overpass burned up a while back.

I got the pleasure of seeing this band 3 times live in Canada. Twice was with Annette on Vocals and once with Floor on Vocals. I got to actually meet Floor during a meet and greet. The tallest and most beautiful woman I ever met, a true goddess of Metal

They actually have a song name" The siren", both Tarja and Floor and Marko sang it beatifully. You can check this song both version Tarja vesion and Floor version
I vote for the Tarja version simply because they haven't heard her yet and that's truly a travesty because she is also an amazing and dynamic singer! ❤️ I love Floor too and there's a special place in my heart for Floor but Tarja has My damn heart AND soul, she just gives me utter chills! I saw her live during her Winter Storm Tour and her stage presence, musicality, and technique were all out of this world! She got SIX ENCORES that night, that's how good she was! 😍😭 I want to see her live again SO BAD!

The keyboard player: Tuomas holopainen; is the one that composes every piece of music that Nightwish plays. Lyrics and music. Sometimes Emppu(guitar) and Marco (bass) help, but he's the main composer.

The Islander live at Wembly is a great chance to see "Otis" (Marco) showing off his own incredible voice and crowd interaction.
Also it's worth noting that Tuomas, the keyboarder, composer and lyricist, wrote both of the songs you've reacted to so far for the band's former lead singers; Floor is even more incredible when singing a song that was written to take advantage of her range and talents.
To that end, I cannot more highly recommend *The Greatest Show on Earth* which is about the history of life on this planet, and how it has led to Us. It was inspired by the work of famed evolutionary geneticist Richard Dawkins, and his voice features in a few places in the song, like snippets of a profound atheistic sermon.
Other excellent choices from albums written with Floor in mind are *Yours is an Empty Hope, Weak Fantasy, Noise,* and *Endlessness.*
Endlessness features Marco ("Otis") more heavily than Floor, so it's a great chance to hear how great his voice is, and is also an incredible song from a compositional standpoint. It starts off suddenly, in the middle of a musical "phrase", for lack of a better word, and there are several points where it feels like the song is swelling to some sort of crescendo, but instead it just keeps building and building, then it eases off without any meaningful release before starting to build all over again, which I think is an incredible metaphor for the nature of existence, which I think is what the song is about.

nightwish did a pink floyd cover of high hopes, back in 2005 (in the era of the first nightwish singer). the one singing this song is marco (the bass player), it becomes just an epic power song! :)

You're referencing Pink Floyd cover ; in fact, one of the very rare instance of Nightwish making a cover is a Pink Floyd sound. I can't recommend you enough to go check out High Hopes by Nightwish. Floor isn't here (it was before her era), but Marco stand his ground.

So, from what I have seen, you have developed quite the taste for metal and want to check out more genres and/or unique bands? So far you liked melodic mixed with harder stuff, you don't mind harsh vocals, if done good, and you can spot a good compostion when you hear it.

Nightwish has so much to offer to you from catchy over folk towards heavy.
Here is a suggestion for a nice travel through the variety of Nightwish.
-> "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" (Buenos Aires) will give you a metal and power blast
-> There are a couple of great songs from Wacken: Song of Myself, Ever Dream, Romanticide, Last Ride of the Day, Ghostriver, ...
-> "Yours an Empty Hope" from Wembley (have a good look at the growls)
-> "The greatest Show on Earth" (Tampere) and "The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley - get to know the background of this song ahead)
-> Then the new stuff with "Noise" (Video), „Shoemaker“, "Harvest (Lyric Video) ...
Just my personal thoughts :-)
One thing you can definitely be sure of: Every song is different, has some surprising transitions, is intense. And none of the songs you're going to discover will disappoint you.

I hadn't listened to Nighwish in years and I quite enjoyed Floor's performance. But if you haven't listened to any of their old stuff, with Tarja as their lead singer you definitely should. Tarja is one of those voices that has no equal and pretty much the inspiration behind operatic metal.

@@Hollywood6IX hey Guys, the not ready yet thing is something mystifying like a "rite of passage" thing in the NW Army, but iam honest you can listen and react to the poet and the pendulum anytime, and wittness beautyfull music and great composing, on the other hand when you know the people in the band better and know Tuomas better how he composes how he turns feelings and dreams into music you wittness awhole diffrent level of the song, you get a brief glimps in the Mind of a Poet in a deep deression , that deep dark and stormy ocean that is the mind in fear and dout ( over the split up from there first singer and his college friend)
Tuomas composed the song in this period while considering suicide, realising he couldnt do it because of his familiy and friends needed him, he commit suicide in a song to use it at catharsis , and when you know this, the band Members (and can think of why they do what they do in that wembley show clip) you get a very deeper more meaning full glimpse and feeling for the song
that why its to early, and why its difficult to say "yes now you are ready" because YOU, need to be ready to view Nightwish not only as Musicians and a Band, but are intrested and "care" for them as they care for us the fans

nightwish does have a pink floyd cover, and Otis is the vocals behind the cover... you should listen to the song ever dream by nightwish.. one of my favorites, also part of their wacken 2013 setlist.
It's so funny tho when people who don't really have any idea what's metal all about and react to real music for the first time and they are like "dude this is actually nice".

Sup guys been watching your channel for a while now, the reactions are great and you guys are hilarious at times. Nightwish is one of my favorite bands and Floor Jansen is a goddess among us mortals. I got a question though. When are you guys gonna react to Unleash the Archers "Awakening"? It's a power/heavy metal band led by the phenomenal Brittney Slayes. If you guys like Jinjer, Arch Enemy, Iron Maiden, and Nightwish I think you guys will dig it.

I took my wife to the Imaginarium concert when she was half way through her pregnancy carrying our son (born in March 2013, so, late 2012). The venue was standing only. She told me afterward that he was rocking out the entire concert. Funny of funnies was, when he got really fussy after he was born, I put this album on and...well, kiddo went right to sleep--even when colic was the nemesis. Now that he is 9, well, when the stars align, we plan to take him to his second Nightwish concert.

This song is part of the Movie Soundtrack from the movie "Imaginaerum" in wich Nightwish participated also as Actors and wrote the Soundtrack with their second singer Annette Olzon.

Like me, you've just found Floor and Nightwish in the last few months. It's been a wonderful journey of discovery.
Nightwish is indeed amazing! Another band with superb music & crowd control is Iron Maiden. Check out "Fear of the Dark" from "Rock in Rio" 2001. "Hallowed be thy Name" from Live After Death" is amazing, too (from 1985). "Dance of Death" & "Paschendaele" from "Death on the Road" are good ones, too. Maiden have spent the last 45 years honing their craft & it shows. They are, IMHO, the best band in existence. Great reaction to Nightwish!

New subscriber from Australia. 10.6K subscribers when I hit the button. Well done! Floor is 6 ft 1 in before the boots. Her stage craft has been compared to Freddie Mercury at his best. Her husband, drummer from Sabaton, is 6 ft 3 in... They have a daughter - named Freya, of course! The drummer is Jukka Nevalainen in this clip. He is still working for Nightwish on the business side but Kai Hahto is the new drummer. The song is from the album "Imaginaerum". The Nightwish movie of the same name is worth a look.
