@@gashchannel334 What are you implying? What he said doesn't have to be "the only two in the world" and only then can I ask about Geoff. Of course I know he said two of the best. So what's the point of telling me that?
Tim truly shows his range in Mayday. He starts the song as high tenor for the first verse and Chance does the bass throughout the song and hits a few really low notes. I enjoyed your reaction!
Peter Hollens and Tim Foust (Home Free) Misty Mountains, Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Greensleeves. Home Free My Old Man, My Church, How Great Thou Art, In The Blood, Elvira
Thank you, Beth. I really enjoyed your reaction. Tim Foust is Home Free's bass, but he's much more than that. He has a 5+ octave range, and the power to handle them all. And just a little FYI- Tim was the one to teach Avi how to deepen his bass notes to where they are now. True story. They are really good friends and have been for years.
Cindy Flory do you have a quote about that. Cause Avi has had a low g1 in his range since the sing off. I think he met home free after the sing-off, but it might have been in Avis college days. Avi is opera trained and was a basso profondo in shows, that were scored down to a2. I don’t know about the upper ranges. I think Tim has always had a slightly higher range, but not sure.
Matthew Dockray no, his chests at best an a#2. Not sure what that has to do with my comment. I was merely saying that Avi is classically trained in opera, sings basso prodpfundo in various roles, and has had that g1 in his pocket since at least some off. Tim can go both lower and higher, but that doesn't mean his tone is as rich or clear, cause he's trainied in country, which necessarily produces sound differently. Not better or worse, just different. But I'm highly dubious of the claim that he taught Avi, since again, Avi was trained in college and has had that g1 in his repitorie already.
Tanya Nguyen what on earth do you mean you’re not sure what it has to do with your comment? You said Avi had a G1 in his range, I said no he didn’t. Though I do believe that Tim introduced the growl register to Avi but I’m not certain
Please check out more of Home Free their Bass Tim Foust is so good! He can sing too, he's not just a bass. Their acapella group is amazing all of them! Please take a look at Blue Ain't Your Color and listen to the bass in it. Thanks, I enjoyed your reaction.
Home Free has grown quite a bit since this video was put out. I'd be interested in seeing what you had to say about one of their more recent videos, Man of Constant Sorrow, Dierks Bentley/Keith Urban - Woman, Amen / Female (Home Free Cover) or one of their originals like Good Ol' Boy Good Time. I enjoyed your reaction/analysis, thank you! ^_^
Your reaction to this song is my favorite of many that I have watched so far. Love the big girlish smiles when Tim and Avi hits the big bass notes. Keep them coming!
God - every time I hear this song I'm reminded of what an absolute BEAST Avi is. As a Baritone-2, I look upon his true Bass-2 in utter jealousy, and then I'm reminded of his immense range... He's just.. constant beastmode - I share your fandom. Also I just found your channel and this is great. I love seeing reactions from voice coaches and lingual coaches. It's fantastic.
I always get a buzz when someone enjoys and appreciates Home Free. They're amazing live as I was lucky enough to find out in September this year. They do come to the UK. They even sang Ring of Fire and Tim's voice vibrated the seats and through my chest lol. Please review their wide selection of songs. It really pleasing to hear a professionals discrption of their performance 💜 Thank you.
Sadly, I am only a low baritone. Even though I have retired, I have the urge to keep and improve my singing skills. I admit that I am also envious of Tim Foust and Avi Kaplan. Finally, you are a delight. Your expression in your voice and in your smile is absolutely genuine and delightful. Thank you for sharing them.
Yeah, another Home Free fan. That's exciting and I loved your reaction. In addition to great and versatile voices, they have really tight harmonies. The beat boxer is incredible. Their videos are often fun and upbeat, with more serious ones sprinkled in. You already have some good suggestions and I am looking forward to more reactions (I hope).
Check out ANY Home Free videos and they are amazing. Tim Foust -- bass has about a 5 octave range. It has gotten lower and well as higher over the past few years. He regularly blows out woofers. The audiences adore him.
Loved your reaction! It was great! You should check out their version of "Helplessly Hoping". It really shows their skills & it will knock your socks off! 😉 Seriously, it's beautiful! Thx so much!!
The base in Home Free, Tim Faust, has a rediculous range. Now, a few years ago one of their founding members wanted to leave the group to focus on solo stuff, and helped pick out his replacement. Adam Chance (who in my opinion look a lot like Will Wheaton) who was the base in his former group. Now, the word is, that Tim started teaching him how to go lower then he could before, and they demonstrated how *high* Tim can go, and how *low* Adam can now go in their cover of 'Mayday' by CAM.
WOOO HOOOOO!!! THANK YOU for finally reacting to Home Free. I don't think it will take long before you start considering yourself a 'Home Fry' (Home Free fan.)

Oh thank goodness you recognized this was a solid between Foust & Avi. I saw another vocal coach's reaction and she just ohhed & ached over Avi. I saw the competition episode they used this song. It was slight apprehension doing a well known song with twist featuring Foust they're secret sexy weapon. It turned out fantastic.
Beth I really appreciate you listening with headphones. It amazes me when i see vocal coaches ignoring half the performance by not wearing headphones. It's are a breath of fresh air to see you taking the reaction seriously enough to actually listen to it.

Loved your reaction! I'm a baritone but im more comfortable singing in a lower octave. If that makes sense? It's nice to see people truly enjoying bass singers on lead vocal, most of the time the baritone or lead usually sings lead vocal. At least in most quartets I've seen. Beautiful reaction! Such a great group. You should listen to their live rendition of the song during their stint on The Sing-Off. It's in a lower key which makes for a more exciting bass note at the end.
What I love about this video is that it shows how good Avi is, not just how low he goes, but his timbre, which, much as I like home free, really is more rich than their bass (whose name I am forgetting. Bad me.)
Drieux Koeppel you know Avi is a trained opera singer, right? Foist did not “teach him his low note”. Avi has basically aged into it. He had all but his lowest two tones in school in college, in his classes, and his teachers included one of the best opera basso profundo I’ve heard. Did he share tips with Tim, likely. But to say he learned from Tim is an exaggeration. Because you do t learn how to sing low notes. Either your voice can do it, or not. And as you age (or as both avi and Tim joke, when you are sick) your voice gets lower.

Interesting to hear you say that the bass voice is the rarest voice type. I've been out of singing for nearly 8 years, so my voice is a bit higher than it used to be - after 8 months I'm able to get to a bottom D again at any time of day (a 5th above Tim's last note). My voice will go much lower though, at 14 my bottom note was a bottom C (a 4th above Tim's last note), and with a vocal fry I was getting down to an F# at 17. I'm now 25, so hoping to get significantly deeper as I get back into singing. Never considered the bass voice that unusual though - nobody ever told me it's special or wanted me! Maybe I'm missing a trick here?
I'm a real true bass. Have been since my voice changed. :) If anyone knows any groups around Fargo ND looking for a good bass who can hit that end note, I'd love to know! Also, those are probably my two favorite bass singers I've heard.
