Haha. My brother told me that Sagat from Street Fighter was also based on Danny Tanner. The wrist wraps he wore were supposedly dish towels for cleaning.
I saw Bob Saget do his stand-up LIVE one time. He was an absolute madman, and it was HILARIOUS! I wish I had more chances to see him do what he did best. He was an animal 😂 it was epic
@PopCultureHyperfixations to add to the pot of awesome...it was the "That ain't right" tour and it was at a small college in Orono, Maine. Bob was interacting with the crowd and staff. He was SO brutal! So funny! He did his songs like my dog licked my balls, Danny Tanner is gay, the old limerick song... It was something I will never forget. I had no idea he did this wrestling bit haha thanks for sharing this info! This makes him even more of a legend 👏
Damn thanks for the great upload, I loved Chikara and only got into them a little bit after this angle played out. Such a great and underestimated promotion that knew how to tell stories, but is often remembered for being funny.
Ah, Chikara. Good times. For a long while they were one of the most innovative wrestling organizations in the world. Shame the way they went out. But when you build on a rotten foundation, you can’t be surprised that the building collapses.
When did Bob Saget ever do pro wrestling? I had no idea I’m new to the channel. I’m glad I found it overwatch two other weird celebrities I never even knew happened.
Ooh this is a local promotion to me I guess! Never heard of it but given the The Rock went to high school around here not too surprised we have a scene. Too bad it's not around anymore but probably for the best it seems.
He got outed for some pretty nasty stuff regarding how he managed the locker room. Everything from being a creep, to enabling creeps, to almost denying medical attention to a wrestler because the paramedics needed to take their mask off. Chikara was already on shaky legs anyway, because he shut it down for a year and a half for….. rumored shady reasons….. so he just shut the whole thing down permanently rather than face the public scrutiny.
Chikara > ROH Way more fun and way more good times were had watching chikara than watching fucking 40 minutes of a guy no selling 20 Japanese brain busters and then goes ahead and sells the fucking arm bar and cattle mutilation. At least chikara knows it's supposed to be funny.
@@RecantoSombrio ROH had its feuds and its moments, it was important in the context of the early 2000s for guys that really needed somewhere to go but otherwise it was way too dry and then lost complete sight of what it was in the late 2000s to early 2010s and it just became another indie promotion, even today its just a dev for ROH and because Tony Khan was a rich mark for it. Chikara? I'd beg the wrestling gods for it back with all the budget of AEW just for the fun of it because it was so nonsensical and hilarious.
All wrestling is for kids, dolt. It’s pretend fighting. “Oooooh deathmatch wrestling” You mean the most cartoon version of wrestling there is? The one with Wild E Coyote traps?
I mean, you say that like an insult, but it was very much intentionally geared for that. Swearing was a huge no go at Chikara shows, drinking wasn't really a thing, and I believe kids got in free, at least for some shows.
@@AndreNDP As much as the WWF was during the 1980s expansion, there's only so long you can make a children's show, especially a pro wrestling show, that makes fun of wrestling and is going to make them continue to be fans. This is now canon
This was my introduction to Chikara and I must now dive deeper. Great video. 👍
Hell yeah thanks for the kind words
i never watched Chikara, but a friend of mine collects their event posters and its hilariously awesome
Huge fan of the DVDs that were comic book cover mashups as well

There's a pitcher in the MLB with the name Quackenbush as well.
It's a name you certainly wouldn't expect to see twice.
Dave Quackenbush is the singer for the Vandals
Ms. Quackenbush is the teacher of Huey, Luey, and Duey.
It's Dutch I think, there was also the animator Corky Quackenbush who made the Rudolph parodies for Mad TV.
Didn't expect to see a shot of the locally infamous Fake Doink vs Heidenreich Golden Corral parking lot match here.
Any chance I can to show it I will
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!

Was definitely one of my favs back in the day
Tom Green (not that one) brought me here.
Hell yeah tom rules!
Would love some more CHIKARA vids, one of my fav promotions
So they paid Bob Saget for a cameo...
Let's face it, that awful back tattoo was enough to turn Icarus heel alone.
that tattoo is worthy of its own separate video
I was expecting Bob to be under a mask

I highly reccomend checking out the back catalogue if you can, at it's peak it was so good
