It’s really great that they took what they learned about the demographics love for that J Mascis necks and are making it a staple in other versions of the Jazzmaster.

This is not the J Mascus neck, Only in finish is it alike. It is narrower and not as chunky.

Have the green one so can confirm it’s awesome. Played great out of the box, and I love the neck because it feels a little flatter than Fender’s usual C shape.

Yes to Road Worn Squiers. Or at least satin necks on all Squier necks.
And yes to history series please.
Just yes to more Tia and Jason.

So we have a pair of Basement fans here! Good taste and great playing. This video may be the final straw that makes me give in and buy one of these. It's gotta be the olympic white gold edition, though I really love the sandy vintage too.

Great review! Fun, informative and straight to the Grunge! I love this version of the Jazzmaster and bought the Seafoam Green, because (full disclosure) I am Dad and I like to play a little surf, along with a little rock, grunge, punk, and sometimes jazz.
The Fender/Squier Jazzmaster delivers on all of these styles and adds a different flavor that can be found in the switching.
I just discovered your channel and now I'm subscribed.

I have the 40th LPB version, non vintage. It's wearing SD Antiquity II's. I also picked Mike Adams' brain for wiring a Freeway Ultra switch. Between his input, my findings and the Freeway company I was able to get the wiring sorted for that project. If you haven't heard a JM out of phase you haven't lived. I did match the headstock and had a custom decal in the stock configuration made, just in gold versus the regular black logo/don't. Looks amazing and how the 40th should've came, with tht matching HS. Love the 40th series.
Now, for the vintage series, they really should should've done more to seperate this. Pups voiced for the 50's JM would be killer. With the 2010 run of CV Strats, for example, they put 50's voiced pickups in the 50's model. They put 60's voiced pickups in the 60's model. They should've taken this approach for this guitar as well. The cosmetic differences, only, are getting a little lame. At least with the 40th I have a neck profile that is different, larger, so it's an actual difference in feel when picking it up.

I've got the J Mascis and the 40th anniversary with the laurel fretboard and gibson style inlays. Definitely a bigger fan of the mascis. The 40th anniversary has the bridge sink issues that are common to jazzmasters. I like the radius on the Mascis neck better as well. Different guitars for sure.

Feel that most relics command a premium as they have to make the guitar, then add relic. Adding that expense to a squier, which the buyer could spend on a setup, or some other mod like new pickups or tuners, doesn't make sense to me. Also a squier can be a bit of a beater because it didn't cost thousands, so makes less sense to fake it. But the world would be boring if everyone thought the same so 🤷

Pre-ordered this model from CME back in January. It looked fantastic as I've wanted a Jazzmaster with a maple neck. I'm also big fan of the desert sand finish with the anodized gold pickguard. I've always had good luck with every Squier I've bought over the years. Unfortunately, this one was a QC disaster. I'm not precious with guitars and I really don't mind a poor setup or some dings/scratches. I ended up returning it as it could not be properly set up. Issues:
Extremely shallow neck pocket - i.imgur.com/ckfcMc0.jpg
Neck bottom of heel is too thick - i.imgur.com/G41XxH2.jpg
Pickups and bridge were set extremely high to actually be playable - i.imgur.com/DqeA7KI.jpg , i.imgur.com/P9hiXnM.jpg
A couple of the "aged chrome" pickup screws were basically stripped. All of them are of very poor quality. - i.imgur.com/oo36pAN.jpg
Stress crack on body near neck pocket close to neck - i.imgur.com/maVIMzG.jpg. I should have gone through Sweetwater as I'm sure a lemon like mine wouldn't have gotten past their inspection. Maybe I'll go for another through Sweetwater. :)

Ended up taking advantage of Fender's 12 Days of Deals and got one for $359.99. Fit & finish all outstanding. No problem with setup and while the stock pickups are OK, I put in a set of Brandonwound Noiseless Jazzmaster pickups that I had in the parts drawer. Loving the comfortable satin maple neck. Outstanding guitar overall! 👍So glad I grabbed another. Thanks for another great review as always!
