There are some techniques you frequently use in your amazing solos (like sliding up a fret mid bend or the way you walk up to higher notes) that i would love to learn about. Maybe break em down in a future episode?

Also look at his right hand. The way he plays with his fingers and gets back to the pick just can't be copied. His left hand is from another world as well, this dude really digs into the neck. Definitely not my style of music, but you gotta appreciate his unique technique.

I played a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster when they came out and fell absolutely in love with it. I compared it with some Fender Jazzmasters in the shop. The Squire sounded and played far superior to the others. I had to have. My wife bought it for me for a Christmas present. The sounds are remarkable. Especially the clean tones. One the best guitars I have played in my 50 plus years of playing. It's right up there in greatness with my 1956 Esquire that I have played for decades. Oh yeah....love your playing and channel! I think it's because he has a distinct/innovative style or technique that makes him sound different and separates him from other guitarists, which is something only truly "great" guitarists achieve
Hendrix had his unique chord voicings and controlled feedback, Jimmy Page had his fast sloppy playing style and his alternate tunings, and Van Halen had his extremely efficient picking technique and hammer-on/pull-off combo along with his mastery of pinch harmonics. There's Jeff Beck with his volume swells, B.B. King had his vibrato and Tony Iommi's tone and playing pretty much singlehandedly created the sound of heavy metal the same way Clapton set the standard for what rock would sound like during the 60s and 70s.
These guys set standards for what guitar music is supposed to sound like and most guitarists are basically content with just sounding like their respective idols or inspirations and you can hear that in tons of guitarists' playing - John Mayer's tone and phrasing come straight from SRV, practically everything about Yngwie Malmsteen comes from Ritchie Blackmore and Derek Trucks is just a reincarnated Duane Allman etc. etc.
Only a few ever go the extra mile to make themsleves sound completely unique and I think Chris is one of those guys. He doesn't sound like anybody else except himself (closest I can think of is probably Beck) and I think that's a sign of a truly talented guitarist

While I realise that it's not your intention, but your uniquely musical, articulate playing on these very different guitars make it clear that the guitar itself matters little and that the player is the main ingredient in music. You make everything that you play sound just like you and that's so bloody fine.
Oh, and you get first prize for the best solo ever played on a Gibson Melody Maker which, no surprise to me, you managed to make sound as good as every other guitar you play.
