Wow! Thanks for sharing Nurse Solomon. I've been following you on FB for a long time though I got to know about your TH-cam channel about a month ago. Your Zygomatic bone is still prominent as always 🌝 You're doing well.
What if one has been foreign trained in a specialized role...like anaesthesia.. would one still need to undergo a training in them in the uk for it again
Hi Solomon, thank you for your video. I am currently working towards applying for a band 5 Research in my Trust and I would you to put me through my application and interview
Hi brother I am a intermediate band 5 nurse with bsc Nursing working in a general medical ward. I Would like to progress in my career with any speciality like DSN but I have very little knowledge about these courses. Could you please guide me with it. Thanks in advance and God bless.
Hi DIDI, I believe what you mean by DSN is Diabetes Nurse Specialist, correct? What you should do first is search for DSN job adverts and study the essential requirements in the person specification. (Preferably search for this job advert on your hospital job site, if you desire to work as DSN in your hospital.) By doing this, you will learn what they require of any intending DSN. Then work towards getting the necessary certification/experience. If there’s an opportunity to become a diabetes link nurse on your current ward, please tell your manager you want it. This will afford you the opportunity to work directly with DSNs and gain experience. Like I always emphasise, do not despise any relevant experience you get even if it seems small in your eyes. If required, you may need to do an informal course usually run by NHS hospitals on insulin administration or diabetes management generally. Ask around, be intentional. You could also do a formal PG diploma course in diabetes-related module to boost your CV and knowledge.
Hi there. How are you? I wanted to speak to you guys and seek advice re being a clinical nurse specialist. I'm currently working as an Band -5 Occupational Health Nurse at Barts NHS Trust. I've been working there for three years and I want to start an new path beyond OH. I'm thinking of Tissue Viability (as i have previous experience in Community three years ago) and Infection Prevention Control Nurse as we are dealing with viruses and vaccinations. I'd like to pick your brains re those two (I'm aware it may not be your speciality) and if you have any other advice for me moving forward past being an OH nurse. Many Thanks.
Hi. Both Tissue Viability and IPC specialties are great, I have worked with some of the specialist nurses in both teams. My advice is for you to shadow a nurse in these specialties on a couple of shifts to see what their role really entails experientially. You’ve got to make informed decision.
@@AccordingtoSolomon Yes I agree with you. Because of my work and the endless issue of short staff i don't think it will be easy for me to shadow. But what i have done today I have started contacting staff from the TVN and IPC and see what they will say. But I want more choices. I'm more into computers so I don't know what pathway could lead me to. Nursing Informatics? I don't even know if there is such a thing. What other pathways or avenues I can start exploring?
I love to hear from you that your escape from comfort zone 💖 which i couldn't or hardly achieve

@@AccordingtoSolomon Thanks brother that was a really apt and detailed response. Hope I can reach my goal
I used to think masters degree was a criteria to become a clinical nurse specialist🤔
😊 Not at all. A BSc in s the basic requirement in most NHS settings. The hospital will normally sponsor further trainings
