    I grew up in Billings and attended Montana State University. I moved away to work and am shocked how real estate properties have shot up in price. I could have purchased a decent house in Manhattan for $22,000.

    Yikes..I can't imagine moving to Montana only to end up in a 1,700 sf cookie cutter house squeezed onto a small lot for $700,000. Or worse, a 1200sf condo for over $700,000. I live in northern California in the Sierra Foothills an hour east of Sacramento. It's small rural town of 2,000 people and for $500,000 you can have a 2500SF home like ours on five acres. For $700,000 you may get more acreage or a bigger home. Why go to Bozeman and live in with look like very ordinary homes that all look the same? If I was going to Montana it wouldn't be to live in a subdivision. Bozman is beautiful part of our country and it seemed odd for this very nice real estate person to encourage people to live in a housing tract.

    • @lifeinbozemanmt
      @lifeinbozemanmt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The market here is definitely tough - for acreage around that price range (700k) you’d have to go outside Bozeman to Livingston or Three Forks - which is more comparable size to your town as well, from the sound of it. There are some lovely developments that aren’t quite as “cookie cutter” as well, but as far as current listings in that price range here, there aren’t many. Thanks for watching!

    • @kristina-oy3zs
      @kristina-oy3zs ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree… these prices don’t make any sense

    • @lifeinbozemanmt
      @lifeinbozemanmt  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kristina-oy3zs it really comes down to supply and demand - the Bozeman area is one of the most desirable in the state, with our county and one other the top one where people are moving to within Montana. And there’s just not enough homes for the demand. It’s been quite the market to witness the changes in certainly.

      Oh bs. You just make up price and that becomes law. There's no reason why these apartments and houses should cost as much as they do. I swear you agents and slum Lords have a competition to see who can charge the most. I've seen the workers that built these places. I see them everyday. I've busted them smoking meth in my parking lot. Hell they od in the portapotties. The houses are built by immigrants and put up as fast as possible. No way they should be worth what you value them. Thanks for screwing hard working people to let these soft ass work from home yuppies come live.

      $700,000 doesn't't sound like 'free'. Consider north eastern or north western California for excellent property valves. I'd love to live in Montana but it would be rural small town Montana with some property not a subdivision.

    Sigh. It used to be nice. About 3 years ago. The influx of remote workers has made it impossible. I'm 5th generation and can't afford anything besides an old trailer. I make almost 30 an hour, but when rent is 2k + a month, the numbers don't add up. These numbers are New York numbers. I'm all for remote having to go back to the office, but I don't think you can put the squeal back in the pig at this point. It's already heading towards ghost town with workers and there are multiple urban camps now. If I didn't have a kiddo, I'd pop my butt in a camper too. City of Bozeman doesn't listen, they just see $$$$$$$ even though they have more than they've ever had. It's a sad state of affairs. I'll quietly buy a lot somewhere, move this trailer, and do my best to stay debt free. This economy is too harsh for anything else at this point.

    Montana has become a place for the rich. Both my wife an i live in 444 sqft for 1200/month. The rich have screwed us. I have generations of family here and now i feel im being forced to leave. Bozeman has never been a good place, well maybe in the 1800s. Since i was a kidits been rubbish. No parking, horrible drivers, college kids, overpriced food, overpriced real estate run by slum lords or sold by real estate agents that just want your money and could care less about helping humans. They dont show you in this video but theres hundreds of homeless population living in rvs and cars in certain areas of the city and those encampments are becoming larger every day. The rich have made it impossible for any blue collar worker to find a house to buy. Consider moving somewhere else. Its not as great as you think it is. For me and thousands other, its poverty with a view
