I've been listening to this song at lesat twice a day for over a year now. I know the song is about the Welsh Language and that they kept the language even though Brittan tried to get rid of it. HOWEVER, as a person who has drug-resistant depression (No Medications have worked for me), this song is INCREDIBLE. With Depression, sometimes when you wake up in the morning all you can say is "I'm Still Alive...". This song almost "Gives you permission" to feel that way. To be proud of the fact we made it another day, and we're still here. And the part about being surrounded by Darkness but ready to see the dawn". I cannot express what this song has meant to me. I CAN say that he's just released his autobiography in English and it is INCREDIBLE. His live could EASILY be made into a movie (Including someone trying to get him tied up in a plan to "Unalive" the Prince many years ago. I won't say what happened, but what an INCREDIBLE man, story, and song! I don't know what to say other than this song has literally kept me going!

I can’t even explain why but reading the comments and seeing people from other countries referring to Wales as Cymru has brought a tear to my eye! C’mon Cymru! This is such a moving and passionate song- it was amazing to see and hear people in Newport, most of whom are not Welsh speakers, singing along with Dafydd Iwan when he visited last weekend.
AMAZING - I am Scottish but this is a cracking anthem. Our nations enjoy the rivalry but this makes me proud to be British. To our friends in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland - total respect for our cultures but we are all British. Be proud - stick together. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@allisonshaw9341 There is an area in Cardiff that used to be called Butetown, named after a Scottish abuser and exploiter of the Welsh people. I'm not particularly having a go at the Scots, but it isn't just the English. You might not know but there used to be a Welsh whisky industry. When Scotland went into the union, they had the duty removed from Scottish whisky, but they insisted that Welsh whisky had to pay duty. They deliberately destroyed the Welsh industry. There are many other stories, including stories involving Ireland. However, I won't bother you with any more. As a side note, Welsh is Brythonic Celtic, our linguistic brothers are the Cornish (a language that is still spoken), Breton, and also the language of Galicia in North West Spain. Mind you, Galician has been diluted with a lot of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin. The Irish patron Saint was a Brythonic Celt kidnapped as a child from what is now Wales and enslaved in Ireland. The boy 'done well' he became the patron Saint of the country that enslaved him. :)
@DafyddHughes-oq2hd They haven't destroyed us. We are still here and we will be till the end of time. :) The language has survived and is, I believe, growing. My father used to tell me about the 'Welsh not' where in the area he lived if you were heard to accidentally speak so much as one word of Welsh in school you were beaten, made to wear a dunces hat and paraded through the village with a sign around your neck saying how stupid you were. It didn't work mind. They still spoke Welsh at home, in the village shop, with friends, and later, they all made sure that their children spoke Welsh. :)
The best about sport, it is when your identity and history emerge from your soul, and we can see the power of nations by its goodness. Buena Suerte galeses.

@@bannaubrycheiniog1329 Hi! My paternal great-grandmother was born in Abertawe; on my paternal grandfather's side, his father was born Dulluid Delan (I don't know if that's correct).
Unfortunately we have not been able to learn Welsh, since my grandparents lost contact with their respective families and then passed away, which has made it difficult for us to find information about it.
The little we know is from photos and postcards written in Welsh, sent from there and also some things that were told by relatives who remembered little because of their age.
I'm sorry for my English.
@@daianawilliams oh, that's great you have some photos and postcards though, very interesting, thank you for sharing the story, pob lwc yn y dyfodol I ti! ❤👍
My Taid/Grandfather was born and raised in Gaiman but came to Wales to live with his family when he was 18. His father, my Great Grandfather emigrated to Argentina from Wales when he was a teenager and he met my Great Grandmother there. I’ve been to Y Wladfa once. I went in 2011. A really beautiful place! 🇦🇷❤️🏴
@@bannaubrycheiniog1329 thank you! Good luck to you too!🤗
I've been listening to this song at lesat twice a day for over a year now.
Britain was Welsh. The English were Germanic invaders who pushed us west of the island into Wales and Cornwall
This is so emotional so powerful Got to be the BEST song ever to do with football!
I’m am Irish and this makes me wish I was Welsh. More than a song, this hits deep.
Fellow irishman here, in full solidarity with and support of our Celtic cousins Cymru.
Don’t wish to be Welsh, Ireland and it’s culture is beautiful. We’re together strong 🏴🤝🇮🇪
Ikr why does their song have to slap so hard

i'm from England and this song is just beautiful behind you guys all the way cmon Cymru
I am not Welsh but this is an awesome song and very catchy tune, I could listen to this song for ages and not get bored of it, the chorus is just sublime!! 🤩🤩
Nothing, nothing gets me more pumped and more proud of my heritage than this song!!
AMAZING - I am Scottish but this is a cracking anthem. Our nations enjoy the rivalry but this makes me proud to be British. To our friends in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland - total respect for our cultures but we are all British. Be proud - stick together. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yma O Hyd isn't the Welsh Anthem. The Welsh anthem is Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. ;)
Yma O Hyd is a patriotic/nationalist song.
It would be nice if the English respected the Celtic peoples enough to consider them as equals, not lesser peoples or conquered subjects.
@@trevorroberts9584 Thanks for the info. More should share these bits of history so that we all have a better understanding.
@DafyddHughes-oq2hd They haven't destroyed us. We are still here and we will be till the end of time. :)
The language has survived and is, I believe, growing.
I just love it give me goose bumps proud to be welsh
Absolutely amazing, was so proud to be part of that night, will be watching with pride
My mum was born in Wales but I don't speak or understand Welsh.
This song gives me goosebumps. I love it 💙
Its a real banger, translates roughly to, 'we are still here!', 'after everything and everyone, Wales is still there'
Yma O Hyd, you sons of Speed! All the best Cymru, do your nation proud!
Goosebumps come on cymru 🏴!!!!!!!!!
This song is amazing and it will inspire wales in the World Cup , we are so proud to be welsh , well done wales

No other nation can match this anthem. It’s from God himself. 🏴
It was so good god sent Jesus down to have a look
I'm Scottish, but when I hear this I think of my old friend Pedr Lewis who served on the Artic conveys. He was a Welsh nationalist to his core and was sent to jail for his beliefs .
When I was a bairn my faither told me about the Aberfan disaster .. that tragedy and the CYMRU ANTHEM and YMA O HYD gives me a wee feeling for our fellow Welsh Celts 🎵🎵
I'm ENGLISH But Never felt loyalty to England??? Maybe my Scottish Rootz,,,,

The reason I became a Wales fan - this absolute beauty of a song
Grandpa was a proud yet humble Welshman born in St. Davids and I will be supporting Wales with all my shared Brythonic Celtic Welsh-Irish roots, though born in England... I love Wales and Ireland.... Come on Cymru, make us British Islander mongrels proud of our Welsh heritage 🤩😍 Dafydd Iwan's song is the 12th man and so powerful. With a little luck, who knows....?
No Scotland sadly so I'll be cheering on the Welsh boys. That song is absolutely dynamite. Beautiful
Probably the best and most passionate football anthem I’ve ever heard , respect from a England fan
Outstanding! So excited for the World Cup - brought a tear to my eye!
Can’t wait to hear this everywhere in the next few weeks, or to see Y Ddraig Goch up there with the flags at Qatar22. I liked the inclusion of the Rainbow Wal flags in the video too, nice one for Qatar. I had Dafydd Iwan on my bedroom wall 50 years ago, but I could never have imagined this.
Simply incredible. The emotion and passion in this song and video is unrivalled. The best football athem there has ever been. Goosebumps. From a N. Ireland fan I'll be cheering on the Welsh men in Qatar.
