The psychopaths in 1 and 2 usually had some kind of reason for their shatter, like you said.
During your viewing of DR1, I believe it didn't show one of them: the saddest one they did was a Vietnam war veteran, when he saw his family die to the zombies, he went back to the war until you finally defeated him.

Hey Guys love your reactions, just a quick lore set, it's actually not an apocalypse, in Dead Rising the military is actually competent and quarantine done quick and is usually impenetrable. In most of the games the outbreak is confined to a small town, the only time the military lost control was Vegas, and thus they haven't let it get worse since then.
And another thing, the first part in the ghost town is from a short demo of Dead Rising 2 called Case Zero, it was made before Dead Rising 2 actually released.
I love how the military in Dead Rising is actually able to kill slow, weak zombies

The "zombie rights" activist group is most likely not protesting for their rights, rather protesting for people who have to take zombrex, also imagine being the only survivor of an outbreak, turning on the television and seeing your zombified friends and family being cut up on a game show...yeah I'd be pretty heated too honestly. The way Capcom handled that angle is one of my few gripes with this franchise.
Then shouldn't they be all for people taking the drug so they Don't turn in to zombies and getting cut up. They should be protesting more about the living making sport of the undead and overpriced drugs that could keep the living from becoming such.

Also, maybe there's some discrimination against the infected like people saying that they are zombies even if they haven't turned yet or even people treating the infected as lesser beings than themselves.

@@Solqueen86 The cure is a group to protect the image of the people affected by the infection and against the overpricing of zombrex you can see some boards that show the zombrex price increasing...
@@andreiosada1091In Dead Rising 3, there's a version of this: Infected people are given Zombrex Chips, a small subdermal chip placing in your skin that has a year's supply of Zombrex and a GPS for if you turn (Not to mention the Government letting outbreaks happen to get the public on-side. Look up the film, Dead Rising: Watchtower, which proves Jed right). People who object to the chips for the latter part are branded "Illegals" and blames by the public for any future outbreaks.

Actually you could argue the opposite since Dead rising 2 was about the Zombrex company starting an outbreak to keep up with the demand of making Zombrex from Queens
So, fun fact: Snowflake (the tiger) doesn't have anything to do with Ted's death scene for two reasons: one, you can kill Snowflake before killing Ted, because she IS treated as a hostile (at first). Two: you can actually tame Snowflake instead of killing her, and you accomplish this by feeding her several steaks that you can find in a nearby restaurant. After you tame Snowflake, you can take her back to the saferoom and she'll stay there with Katie for the rest of the game like any other survivor.
Also C.U.R.E. isn't trying to do something stupid like get zombies to live free or anything dumb like that. The zombies used to be human, and the US government is basically allowing people to like Tyrone King to treat them worse than animals. What C.U.R.E. wants is for the government to step in and try to actually cure the zombies instead of letting these former people get slaughtered on tv for the sake of a tasteless blood sport. Because the way the government is allowing people to treat zombies is almost like if the government let a tv network make a game out of killing terminally sick people like it's American Gladiator or something.
Also (again), the two women that constantly tried to emasculate Chuck were twin sisters, not lovers. Well, they probably weren't lovers, because they definitely gave off that vibe, but I can't say for sure they were actually hooking up.
If you're confused about the night time cutscene, here's the explanation -
The zombies basically goes through a small mutation when it gets dark, they're more resiliant and stronger and more dangerous than they were during the day
When the day arrives they revert back to their normal state. Its only when its nightfall that they go through the mutation
The lore reason is that the queen gestates during night meaning the zombies get a lot more hungrier to maintain their young
Legend says that 8-ball is still covering that left flank to this day.

Not sure if this was explored, but CURE is not necessarily about getting rights for zombies. More it’s an organisation that believes zombies should be treated with more dignity in their disposal and the survivors should have access to Zombrex for a cheaper price as it’s 300 a dose.
The zombie TK scene isn't a "TK survived" scene. It's a different ending you can get by not giving Zombrex to TK (you do have the option to do it or not in-game). He turns into a zombie, so he and other zombies overwhelm Chuck. And even though the boss fight with TK is the best ending route in Dead Rising 2, the zombie TK scene is actually the canon scene, since it goes right into the Case West DLC story, and said story goes straight into Dead Rising 3's story.
Also, there's Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, which is a "What if?" version of DR2, but Frank is the protagonist and the story is more or less the same (there's some differences, but they'd be going into spoiler territory), but it has some refined gameplay, more combo weapons and more bosses
Speaking of combo weapons, these are what made the series gain more traction. There's many combo weapons you can do, like combining a baseball bat with a box of nails to make Lucille, a bunch of gems and a flashlight to make a lightsaber, some fireworks and some lead pipes to make an improvised rocket launcher...The combos can get real wacky, and just plain awesome.

Oh yeah, in case you thought the transition from DR2 to Case West was from out of nowhere, Case West actually starts from Ending A. Ending S (which is what you guys saw) is usually the best and canon ending you can go for, but for some reason they decided to connect the DLC to ending A.
Some have made the argument that both are canon and that Ending S transitions to Ending A.
But I just think Capcom made a screw up, cuz they’re well known at this point to do that.
No, ending S is the overtime ending but it’s not canon anymore

In the comics, Chuck’s wife was the first person to turn into a zombie at the start of the Vegas outbreak after she got stung by a Queen (zombie wasp). And then she bit Katey, in which Katey almost turned immediately into a zombie.
This was one of my favorites back in the day!! such a fun open sandbox zombie game

You should react to the Dead Rising 2: Off The Record cutscenes! Its mostly the same cut scenes (but there are brand new ones) but with the character from the first game and different dialogue.
We may check it out at some point but probably not right away since it is mostly the same story just with Frank in it 🤗
Just so you know in your DR1 reaction there were 3 psychopaths cutscenes missing one is Kent, a photographer that gets a rivalry with Frank, then there’s Cletus who owns a gun store and finally there’s Cliff a veteran hunting zombies and people

one thing I will say about dead rising 2 is the mall music is such a vibe. it's weirdly relaxing in what is otherwise an extremely grim situation

Funny you should mention Leon Bell being on "a lot of drugs" - he is officially mentioned to have a drug problem, so that's very well possible
Don't know how much you know about dead rising but the infection started out being spread by infected wasps released from a lab running experiments with the virus, that's how so many got infected so quickly despite the zombies being mostly slow and needing to bite you to spread the infection

The alternative to leaving his daughter with strangers is taking her with him with zombies and thugs/psychos.
True. Or could find a safe space for just her and lock her in there. Of course zombies could break in and kill her. But same thing could happen with the stranger or worse if the stranger wasn’t a good person. It’s a tough spot to have someone you need to protect ☹️
Just some info the women in the sliver and gold dress are twin sisters and the cute guy in the bathroom is the man in Chuck’s outfit who caused this outbreak. I also recommend you watch all the cutscenes for Dead Rising 2 off the record you get to see how Frank West would handle all of this.

I don’t know if you remember my comment from the last Dead Rising video you guys did, but this is the point where the franchise really started gaining traction.
Mostly due to the fact you could combine items to make “Combo Weapons” and of course, the Psychopaths being more memorable than the first game. (I personally like Chuck making one-liners after nearly every Psychopath’s death.)
Was especially a fan of the Case West DLC where Frank came back. (Before they ruined him in DR4)
There’s another game called “Dead Rising 2: Off the Record” which is alternate retelling of DR2 where Frank becomes the protagonist. In terms of gameplay, it’s actually like an upgraded version of DR2 because they added new areas, combo weapons, and a few Psychopaths/Bosses.
There is one certain blemish on these games.
Remember those Zombies that changed when they came into contact with the green gas?
They’re called “Gas Zombies” and a MAJOR pain in the neck to deal with. Any normal zombie can become a Gas one and once one comes after you, more follow suit. They also have this spitting attack that can stun you, guaranteeing you get grappled by them. So not only are they stronger than a normal zombie, they can hound you in packs and cause an annoyingly long loop of being stunned and trying to get out. Worst enemy types.
And when they grapple you after stunning you, you have to get through this annoying QTE sequence to escape everytime.
Their actually pretty easy to deal with if your not stand still and constantly moving
Also the gas zombies appear for like the last 4 missions and considering most missions are like 5-10 minutes in this game that ain’t nothing
I mean, they ARE in Vegas. Debauchery is kinda prevelant, lol
one thing I wanted to mention is that this game introduced combo weapons you can craft out of multiple items.
using nails and a bat to make lucile? putting bowie knives on your boxing gloves?
tip of the iceberg... there is some wild stuff! Try a paddle with chainsaws! it may be worth looking into an "all combo weapons" video

Dead Rising 2 is my fav zombie game(s). Seeing these cutscenes, no doubt it can be seen why.

There’s comics that take place before the story of Dead Rising 2 where we see Chuck Greene was just a motorcycle stunt driver living happily with his wife and daughter Katie until the company Zombrex started a zombie apocalypse in order to creat more of their vaccine to get more money. Chuck’s wife was immediately turned into a zombie by one of the Queen wasps. But yeah the Zombrex stops the zombie virus from progressing for 12 hours and it’s made by using the wasps found inside zombies heads so to make more they need zombies so they cause outbreaks to get money from the rich who are infected.
Also Chuck Greene is one of the most badass characters in gaming.
It wasn’t just about money
They needed more Queens to supply the demand for Zombrex otherwise people would just start running out
The game really did outlined the economic problem of scarcity pretty well
Sullivan was basically bizarro Chris Redfield.

There are many different ending and in the ending of Chuck meet Frank because of Katey and Stacy already left the safe zone and gone missing (you will know more in the third game) that why Chuck give Frank back his Zombrex
It's always sad to think what happened to these people before the zombie outbreak, how they were treated, so much that they turned psychopath when everything fall.
Slappy's theme actually has hints of his "dates" talking to him. Pretty chilling.

Late response. Dead Rising 2 seem to be partially made and written by western developers, while the first game was made by a Japanese team. This help explain some of the level of social commentary and sexualized tropes.

36:50 I think, sadly, this zombrex thing robbed Katey of truly being a kid, and she understands just how afraid Chuck is of losing her. So that's why she's being brave about the shots, and trying to distract him a bit right after.
1:18:13 fun fact, you can actually rescue Snowflake the tiger. And she then spends the rest of the game in the safehouse hanging around Katey. Yes, Chuck leaves Stacey and Katey unsupervised in the security room of the safe house with a full grown tiger.

1:55:12 they were prepared, trained, and more than capable of handling the horde. They were not prepped for super zombies. If not for that, they would have been fully successful in rescuing the survivors
Part of the difference in tone is because Dead Rising 2 was made by a Canadian studio Capcom picked out. Capcom was convinced their games had to be "western" to sell at the time. The 2010s were weird.

Let's not forget that Dead Rising, mainly the first two games, really are intentionally leaning in on campy horror movie schlock. So, "nothing getting passed Chuck" and the overt sexualization is kinda on point for schlocky horror films. 3 still sort of does this, but to a lesser degree

During the fight with Snowflake and Ted, you can actually tame Snowflake with meat and take her back to the safehouse. Sadly you have to defeat Ted.

I'm torn between whether or not I like dead rising 2 or 3 more, but oh well.

There's also "Dead Rising 2: Off The Record" that makes Frank West the Protagonist.
It has small changes to the plot and a different ending.
In my opinion, it's a better sequel than this.
