    You know I'm getting back into modelling after 30 plus years... I'm fast tracking to get back to top end style modelling. After watching this video it reminded me that building a model is about quiet time, enjoying yourself and de-stressing, ( maybe with a special beverage along for the ride). Whatever your goal remember to enjoy yourself relax and switch off from the world. Paint a Panzer pink with yellow poker dots for all I care, but remember to enjoy yourself.....Great video..👍

    I've been building models for over 30 years and this was how it was all done before the likes of MIG and AK. It was refreshing to hear someone say you don't need that premade stuff to achieve good results. For that, my hat is off to you sir. Well done.

    Enjoyed watching this series. Been modelling again for about 18 months now and feel I am not that bad. However, it is nice to see a series like this as it goes back to basics and doesn't over complicate the build and painting process. And there are some tips and tricks I haven't seen before. Complex kits are great to do but sometimes a simple build is needed so you can just have fun but be pleased with the result.

    That’s a fantastic build, filled with lots of great techniques. Thank you. I’ve gotten back into modelling after some 40 years break. At present I’m focusing on WW2 planes, but will definitely try and build a tank. You’ve given me some wonderful ideas regarding weathering for my planes. I naturally moved to the oils a couple of months ago when I restarted this terrific hobby because I didn’t have a library of Tamiya paints. I wasn’t sure if I was doing it right, but you’ve made my confidence grow after watching this. Thanks once again.

    Just picked up a few of these kits at our Hobby Lobby on discount. Had built one about 35 years ago and just built one not long ago. Ditched the figs that came with the kit and added some Dragon DAK figs. It’s a fun and easy kit for starters as well as old pros. Just bought a box of old Tamiya models built many many years ago and some still have the motors and gears. I’ve been having a blast rebuilding and restoring these models. Thank you for your videos.

    I'm more a neophyte in the armour area, but after having friends serve with armour divisions over the years I've taken a stronger fascination with more early period tanks and lighter personnel carrier's, say from earlier times when it wasn't as ponderous a vehicle as these days. Enjoyed your rendition of this oft seen model, as opposed to the later, and far less frequently seen tiger, there being so few built because of it's advanced design, and the cost of even building many due to their complexity. My gratitude for your personal attention paid this staple of the Nazi Forces in both North Africa, and the Eastern Front during Barbarossa against the Soviet Red Army.

    this was my first ever 1/35 th scale tank back in 1970-something.. great value with the figures, though they are outdated now and most modellers wont use those.. the tank itself is a great first BIG tank model - if you've been making 1/76th ones - and still makes into a pretty nice kit. i made one recently and like 99% of ppl put it into Afrika Korps scheme.

If anybody could recommend the most useful ones that are shared for painting tanks I would be very grateful. Like nato black seems very useful. You really need to leave them Windsor newton oils a good 4 hours on card or paper towel before starting and mixing a wash really it'll not dry matt and not dry under a gloss or matt coat very good, that wash would have dried very shiny I've noticed with my own builds the difference it makes just getting that linseed oil of them! I'll squeeze them out in the morning and there fine for working with late afternoon night and for the next 3 days if kept in a Tupperware box. I like to paint my tools the dark grey or the tire black that's fantastic for a cold steel effect

    I'm enjoying this series, thanks. One question, after you put the decals on, you said you put a quick clear coat over them but didn't clear coat the whole model again. Did you just use a brush to do that on the decals and did you thin the clear coat first?

    • @ChampionScaleModelling

    • @ChampionScaleModelling
      @ChampionScaleModelling  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you place a thin sheet of paper or something underneath once it is on the model it less likely to get paint where you don't want it, also you can paint them off the vehicle and them on at the end

    I like this video series. I'm worried about the oil paints though. I've tried some enamels and I do prefer my acrylics...especially when it comes to fumes. How do you clean oils? Can you rinse the brush in water?

    • @ChampionScaleModelling
      @ChampionScaleModelling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you need to use the thinners for oils but you can odorless ones from Ammo or AK and they cut down the fumes. Acrylics are fine but they’re a bit less forgiving as you can’t easily wile them away once dry

    Im building along, 1st armor kit, moved to armor from planes. I dont get the part where the pin wash is locked in with matt coat and then more weathering is added to model. Why not coat it after all weathering ? Looks like theres no final coat to lock in the dot filter and track wash. Also in the Stug video series the final pastel weathering do you lock that in with any varnish coat ? Thanks

    • @ChampionScaleModelling
      @ChampionScaleModelling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t over think it, you can do any of the things you said in any order there is no right way. I did a pun wash over a gloss coat then matted it, for beginners this is forgiving as you can wipe the pin wash away easily. The matt locks it in and no I don’t lock in dust and pastel/pigments with a varnish usually but you can

    Too bad I can't afford an airbrush. Brush painting tanks always leaves an obvious texture, even when the paints are thinned. Also makes doing gloss coats really hard
