Just tried this on my wife's 2015 Equinox, there's a set/clear button just to the right of the menu and up/down buttons that you have to push, it asks if you want to relearn, push the up arrow to yes, hit set, the car beeps twice, it did not beep as I went around to the tires and I ended up having to over inflate the bad tire a lot for it to recognize it and also cycle the car on and off and push the reset but eventually it cleared it, dealer she bought it at (Ford) that also mounted the tires said she would need to take it to a Chevy dealer, thanks for the helpful video
Thank you, I managed to figure it out watching your video how to clear the low pressure tire on the 2017 Chevy Equinox. The reset/clear button needs to be pressed down for five seconds then relearn, yes and proceed to put air in the tires.
Try to physically double check everything. We get to reliant on these computers for knowing everything this is a big mistake as you can tell. I'm new here to your community keep up the good work and thanks for sharing Ken Good information thank you
The GM Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is designed to provide information to the customer allowing them to better maintain proper tire pressure in their vehicle. Proper tire pressure is important for optimizing safety, fuel economy, vehicle performance, and tire wear. Because the GM Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) recognizes a unique sensor ID in each tire, a TPM relearn must be performed after every tire rotation. On past model vehicles, there were two procedures to relearn the TPMS: a Dealer Procedure and a Customer Procedure. After putting the vehicle in relearn mode, the Dealer Procedure used a TPM Tool (J-46079) or equivalent to activate each TPM sensor individually (Tool Method). This allowed each rotated tire/TPM sensor ID to be stored in the new corner location. The Customer Procedure required increasing or decreasing air pressure in each tire by one psi (Delta Pressure Method) to active the sensor allowing each rotated tire/TPM sensor ID to be stored in the new corner location. When using either the Dealer or Customer Procedure, there was the possibility of picking up and storing a stray pressure sensor signal ID from another vehicle that may have been broadcasting n the area. If a stray sensor was inadvertently stored, the system would not recognize the stray sensor ID and the vehicle would set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and illuminate the TPM System light. To commonize procedures and eliminate the possibility of storing stray sensor signals, starting with Late 2011 Model Year GM vehicles and all vehicles build after that point will support just one TPM relearn procedure - the Dealer Procedure. This change allows both Dealers and Customers a common, faster, and more efficient method to relearn tire pressures after each tire rotation. Because all future TPM Relearns will be performed using the Dealer Procedure, customers wanting to rotate their own tires and perform their own TPM Relearn will be required to utilize a relearn tool. GM has designed and manufactured an inexpensive Relearn Tool (EL-5044 specifically for this application. Owner’s manuals have been updated accordingly, to verify the relearn method to be used, reference the Owner’s Manual - Tire Rotation - TPMS Sensor Matching Process
Thanks this was useful 👍 just curious if you're equinox is burning oil at a faster rate than usual like mine? I do drive it alot on expressway daily just wondering if it's just me
Hello Dan, do you have any ideas why the first driving tire doesn't start re-learning? I put the car in re-learning mode, it honked twice, then I see the light above driver's tire which should indicate the tire we are re-learning. Then I'm stuck. Tried to deflate or inflate this tire 10 times but the car doesn't honk so I could go to the next one. Any help? Tried to put a bit more air before the start, it didn't help.
Mine never honked either. And he was also wrong about the order. Start at back driver, do air for 15 seconds Front driver, air for 15 seconds. Then go to back passenger and air 15 seconds Then front passenger air for 15 seconds Then it should show your tires and the air pressure Pick one on passenger side and add air and check and see if it went up on your dash. When I did this. That's how I found out the order he gave was wrong.
@@orangeduc3129 mine never honked either. But I followed through and it had reset them. Just check your order. The order he gave me was wrong for my car. It was back to front on BOTH sides. Not make a loop around the car
Are the sensors themselves able to be changed by yourself or is a mechanics job ! Equinox 2015. Got the air pressure taken care of in the right side but the left side both sensors are out.
i tried it on my 2016 Chevrolet malibu LT limited and it beeps twice then i released air from the driver front tire and it didn't give a beep that it recognized it any advise?
This only works on 2010 and below. For 2011 and up you have to use the relearn tool that you hold up to the sidewall...GM dealers and tire centers have the tool. The GM Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is designed to provide information to the customer allowing them to better maintain proper tire pressure in their vehicle. This was very helpful sir, just a comment. I'm no expert but IT DOES impact negatively the car's performance, in fuel consumption and tire wear. When tire pressure is too low, too much of the tire is in contact with the road. Under inflated tires wear prematurely and have the potential to overheat. It also causes a tire to bend more as it moves, resulting in a build-up of excessive heat, an increase in rolling resistance and a decrease in fuel economy
My 2109 GMC terrain was on relearn tire position mode, but when I took some air out of the tire (went from 35 PSI to 15 PSI) and never gave me the horn beep signal nor front left blinker turned off.
Hello fellow Dan, I know this certainly depends on driving habits, but how are you able to get your gas mileage avg to 24.5? I use regular fuel, 40% city, 60% highway driving, ECO mode, light footed (keeping RPM below 3k), standard factory recommended oil, and get only 20.0 at best. And my mileage is at 73k. I do run Michelin Pilot Sport A/S for AA grade traction, so if you run fuel efficient tires I guess that kinda makes sense
TPMS systems are great when they work. When they fail it’s a royal pain in the butt. Wish there was a simple shut off button to kill the stupid horse shoe light. I survived 70 years without this toy BS. I prefer checking my own oil and tire pressures.
Hello I would love to get some help/advice on this. I have a 2011 GMC Terrain with a damaged key fob where I cannot use any of the buttons. I tried to follow the procedure but cannot do so without the fob as I understand it. Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks in advance
Just put your dash on the tire pressure screen then on your console hold the rest button until the screen prompts you to relearn. Click set and it should beep twice
So my tires are back driver side front driver side Then go to back passenger side And front passenger side. Otherwise your sensors are off. Took me 6 times to figure this out.
Modern fucking vehicles. Fucking joke. I wish there was a sensor for the gas tank that had to be reset by the dealership or by using a 700 dollar tool every time you have to fill up the gas tank

Yea bro it’s a recall let your dealer know and you should get a new part put in for free
I recently got a 2011 and I thought I was losing alot of oil
Dealer did pay for repair, but honestly it still burns oil fast

Cup & Cone it seems like GM realized that there was money to be made doing it this way.

My horn never beeped either. Disregard the horn beep to signal to.move to next tire. Just add air for 15 seconds
Super helpful! Thank you!

what do you mean by pressing the "lock unlock" button at the same time,,, Door lock unlock? you can only press it in one direction at a time.
My horn wont beep when I add or remove air? I have a 2012 Equinox
I have the same problem when I hold down the buttons. The sensor reset but then a few hours later, no reading again and the horn doesn’t honk.
That means the sensor is out
Yep. It’s reacting to the heat and overheating. There was a couple of days last week that it was cool and it acted like normal.
Which Lock/unlock button? The door? Mine doesn't allow you to press both at the same time🤷🏿♂️😩

Are you idling alot (engine running on)?
My V6 Denali can get 24-31mpg
Buy a portable air compressor and keep it in your car. Everyone should have one in their car. Just like a spare and a lug wrench
My car is showing Service Tire Monitor System with a wrench. 2010 Equinox. It doesn't beep when I do the lock unlock.
TPMS systems are great when they work. When they fail it’s a royal pain in the butt. Wish there was a simple shut off button to kill the stupid horse shoe light. I survived 70 years without this toy BS. I prefer checking my own oil and tire pressures.

I did this on my 2011 equinox and now 4 tires are bad how can i fix this?
How do you hold fown the lock and unlock button at the same time?! Its a rocker switch! Dosent work!
ed noble im assuming he means the soft keys on your key remote lock/unlock
With your keyless entry remote !
Or just hold the set button
Helpful Thank you 😊!!!!

Thumbs up for the car but I have no idea what I just watched I didn't learn anything nor earned how to do this.
So my tires are back driver side front driver side
Then go to back passenger side
And front passenger side.
Otherwise your sensors are off. Took me 6 times to figure this out.
I did this 2 took and two reading zero can I redo the steps and jus skip the two that read
I’ve reset the monitor but it’s not reading the right tire pressure on all the tires
He gives the wrong order or some.models are different
Mine was back to front, on both sides. Not start at front driver and make a loop around car
So you turn the car on?
Dont start it. Turn key to accessory...
Good video.
Push lock land unlock ON WHAT?
But the signal is still there
Your good 👍
how do i do it on 2014 chevy malibu lt2
does not work on the 2015.
