Girlfriend and I have been cord cutters for 14+years! I've had a Roku box forever in the upstairs bedroom but really just used it for things like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. It wasn't till I got a Roku stick for our small tv in the kitchen I started using their free apps. Pluto TV is by far my favorite, not just for us but are boys as well. I have built in Roku in my TV and am happy to have it. Tubi is a well stocked channel as far as content goes. I watch a lot of programs on this channel.
This is good info. I’m tired of paying Direct TV $125 a month for “basic TV”. A few months ago I called and threatened to disconnect so they offered $60 off for 12 months but they are Out as soon as my special pricing is over. Thank you!
I have a Roku Ultra at our offices. I do not understand why there are so many Roku devices when it seems each device does the same service. Why is this?
You do not pay for cable.... You do pay for the internet.... If you are watching content with commericals it is not Free. In 60 minutes you will have to sit thru (a little more or less) 20 minutes of commericals. Free TV means commerical Free. People are brainwashed by Corporations who convince you TV with commericals is Free. Easily 1/3 of your time you are forced to watch commericals. I will gladly pay for an app to watch commerical free TV. For $20.00 a month you can have 2 or 3 commerical free streaming apps and be able to watch much much more content than the apps that have commericals.
Love my Roku Streaming Stick. It does as much as my other two older Roku boxes. Just plug the stick into any HDMI input. I’m getting ready to dump cable. Thanks for your review.

I just happened upon your channel while exploring something called Vuuzle... Unfortunately you didn't have anything about that subject here, but no matter, that's not what my comment is about. I wanted to say how enjoyable it was to watch and listen to you as you went through all these options. Your verbal style is snappy, but well-paced and engaging. You packed a lot into 13 minutes. It felt like a good friend was having an informative chat with me, and I am happy to say that I learned quite a bit, and feel like I'm further down the path of 'cutting the cord'! Finally, and actually what most compelled me to comment here, was how refreshingly free of 'up-talking' this was (hopefully, you know what I'm talking about ;-). Anyway, good luck, and keep up the good work!
Tubi is definitely my favorite, and like you said they add more movies every month. If some are removed after that month they always bring them back and new ones are always coming in.
An antenna and Pluto is 95 percent of my TV viewing. Plus some of these other free channels. All for free. Don't miss cable or pay streaming services. Saved thousands over the past 4 years. Use that money for better things.
I never had the cord lol. My parents finally cut it only because I told my mom to. In my apartment I have a 32 in Roku TV in my living room and a tiny Spectre with a Roku stick plugged in for my bedroom. I love Pluto TV. Loved watching The Challenge and Survivor channels at first, although they’re repetitive now.

If you have a smart phone, smart tv, and a wifi then your tv and phone can sync and your tv will play what's on your phone. So I'm watching TH-cam on my phone and the first app she suggests is TH-cam?
Roku has several options. Even with a Roku or Firestick, etc you still may not be able to get all the networks you want to watch. You may have to purchase an APP that provides a collections of networks. Sling, TH-cam, etc.

I've got the Roku Express 4K +, which is a big improvement over the Express; it's faster and less buggy. As far as ads go, I tried a movie on Tubi, and what an awful experience. I'd rather pay for Netflix, Amazon and HBO Max (which I do) and not have the ads. I also have an antenna on my roof so I can record "over the air" shows on my TiVo Bolt which has an automatic "ad skip" feature, and if it's not available on a certain show, then there's always the fast forward button. Also, the "free" channels only have 2-channel stereo for the audio, whereas with the more premium channels you get Dolby Digital + which is a much more involved experience.
I have Parkinson, Watch a lot of TV one thing about having memory lost shows like 21 jump street and wise guy on the Roku channel remember them but not what happen on the shows so it i like watching them again for the first time
When setting up Roku it asked for CC and pin, which that should have been an option and not a must do! So if the app ask for a pin is it going to charge me for the "Free" movies.. example PBS wants me to enter my pin .. again the only pin I used was during CC set up! So if there is a charge and how do you see how much?
the thing about the The CW and Adult Swim channels and a few others you have to have a cable or satellite connection to make it work so if you are not already paying for TV you wont have access to channels like that or at least that's what it pretty much told me when i tried using them.
I wish everyone would stop using the term 'cut the cord'. Hardly anyone is actually cutting the cord. What they are doing is dropping cable/satellite TV subscriptions. They still have to maintain some sort of high speed internet, which the vast majority of people get... via a cord. It is a terrible phrase, and pretty much inaccurate.
@@DivinevirgoFeminine yeah. Reading comprehension isn't your thing, is it? How do you get your high speed? I get mine through cable. Try and keep up, sir.

I have a SofaBaton R2, a Roku remote control replacement. I think it's more than Roku, because it has programmable 13 buttons to copy instructions from your other remotes.
In the past, a lot of these channels (especially networks like Fox, CBS...) require you to log into them through your cable provider. Is this still true?
Totally depends on the channel. Mostly, what we highlighted here were channels with free content, and if I have to pay for a cable subscription to get it, it's not really free. Some of the channels we showed require a login, like Kanopy, but don't have a $$$ requirement.
Yes, I am unable to get several networks even though I have Directv, the lowest package called Family. I lost USA, TNT..because they are not included in my Family package. Going with the Family package was my first step in getting rid of cable or satellite. I am now researching which app to sign up for that will give me more networks that I like to watch.
Got a Roku and Fire stick kicking around in my spares but Shield and Apple TV are my daily drivers. Both are hard to beat for me but the Roku's are superb without a doubt.
Debbie Vernon The Nvidia Shield is considered the best device by many for streaming tv..I had firetv and roku prior to the Shield. It is pricey but definitely beats both them in performance.
I just purchased the Roku Preminum + and I have 2 firesticks, but hubby still wont get rid of cable. I use 2 different laptops, the Roku TH-cam wiped out all my library on the newer laptop, now I guess I will have to sync my new laptop to my TH-cam on my Roku. Can you get FOXNEWS free on Roku? Loved your review. I'm new to Roku and you gave me alot of great information, TY.
@@jaidenhull3216 yes you can there are hidden menus. Just like you can turn the bitrate down to not use hundreds of gigs a month that's not in the settings menus
It's funny watching young people talk about free TV. You really don't know what free TV really is. Roku is not free, it just piggy backs off your internet that you pay for. Back in the day they hoodwinked us all by claiming cable tv would be free of commercials. Pay for TV and you don't get all the commercials. The commercials doubled and well we all know what happened to the price of cable/satellite. But with that said, we are finally getting to the point that we can pay for what we want instead of being force fed what they give us on cable/satellite.
I want to win a TCL to give to my daughter because she couldn't afford DirecTV and now she is watching antenna with very few channels to watch. She doesn't have a smart TV. I have a TCL and I love it.

Found some more free channels, thanks for the info.
Woohoo! Thanks for watching.
How many people bought the roku tv and just watched free shows, movies.ect
Solid question. Hope you get some replies.
@@ReviewsOrg would it be possible because it would make A good guest room tv?
me
I have the Roku A. So powerful Scottie can beam me up.
Dropping cable or satellite is what cutting the cord actually means lol
@@DivinevirgoFeminine yeah. Reading comprehension isn't your thing, is it? How do you get your high speed? I get mine through cable. Try and keep up, sir.
@@dougsholly9323yup threw the cable wire as do I but I do not have cable you do not need cable to have internet lollol
@@DivinevirgoFeminine dude, you really need to stop. The phrase is cut the "cord". You are making yourself look like an idiot.
@@ingvardsen31 your sarcasm isn't lost on me. However, it was a poor effort.
Have a Roku Ultra (still not hooked up). I watch Duck Dynasty (currently on FYI on cable), Hallmark Channel movies, Dream Cruises (AWE) and HGTV to name a few. What channels can I find them on?
This is all new to me and I want to cut the cord as y’all say. Cable is ridiculously too much. 💰 I’m watching alot of these informative TH-cam videos.
I have a SofaBaton R2, a Roku remote control replacement. I think it's more than Roku, because it has programmable 13 buttons to copy instructions from your other remotes.
Very interesting. Do you have any comments as to accessing movies on your desktop PC Until recently I used Playon thru Roku, but it's been removed.
What about a list after I watched this I can’t remember. Thanks!
Good job on providing this information- I appreciate the way you presented.
Wow, I should listen again!
Great info! My folks have a Roku, but I've never had a chance to play around with it. It looks like this could be a good option for my wife and I.
Perhaps it's time to pay your folks a friendly visit... If you're lucky maybe you'll get a free meal out of it too :)
Its the best thing I've bought so many channels
What’s the most inexpensive internet connection available that works the best with this setup?
Thanks for the knowledge!

Got a Roku and Fire stick kicking around in my spares but Shield and Apple TV are my daily drivers. Both are hard to beat for me but the Roku's are superb without a doubt.
Yeah, Apple TV is hard to leave, especially if your other devices are Apple. Glad you got Roku as a backup though...
What is shield?
Debbie Vernon The Nvidia Shield is considered the best device by many for streaming tv..I had firetv and roku prior to the Shield. It is pricey but definitely beats both them in performance.

Hundreds of free channels on the Roku TV. Most of those news channel only give updates and clips.

I love it!!! got one from the thrift store for a 1.50 jailbroke it and I've got every channel on planet now 😜

@@jaidenhull3216 yes you can there are hidden menus. Just like you can turn the bitrate down to not use hundreds of gigs a month that's not in the settings menus
I hate commercials. The Acorn channel is not free but it's cheap and has a lot of good programming for the older crowd.
I really like the light music you have in the background. It's just right. You have a very professional presentation. Thanks for the info!

Before you say it...I ll probably wait until after the Super Bowl.
I love my roku express so much because i can stream thousands of channels and games
You forgot CW Seed. Lots of free content there. Mostly canceled, one season shows but it's worth adding because you can't find them anywhere else.
I have not watched her entire presentation so she may have mentioned CW and it is free with ads and is current programming.
