    I am not a fan of the pockets, they kind of spoil the jacket for me. The down is only found on the outer side, whereas on rab jackets they split the down between inner and outer, which makes for a much nicer experience. Finally the fabric used closest to the body in the pockets is very very plastic bag esque

    more down leakage than I wanted to see... my only complaint about Down jackets and products.

    Hi, I am new to this channel. How well does this Thorium AR fit under a Beta LT?
    I have a size Medium in Beta LT and looking for an insulated and really like the Thorium. Would a medium in thorium fit under Beta LT medium?

    • @daetsmlolliw

      Very tightly, compressing the down. A cerium LT, or SV would be better

    Great video with so many useful details. I live in Seattle which is close to Vancouver. I wonder how long in the year you can wear this thorium. I’m still debating between this or cerium LT for daily casual wear. ( lol not what arcteryx supposed to be used for) thanks in advance.

      Get the thorium, it’s much more durable than cerium and warmer. Cerium is not made for daily wear and the thorium is

    Have you tried the Cerium Lt? Would love your thoughts on a comparison.

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've tried the Cerium LT but used more towards urban usage and it's a little bit cold for me. It would fill a nice gap in my arsenal but I don't really need it...

    • @byrongwarby
      @byrongwarby 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thorium AR is a little heavier, but is rated for 8 degrees F, and has a more durable outer. The Cerium lt is about 35% lighter, has higher quality down (can pack tighter), but is rated for 17 degrees F.

    I was wondering what you would recommend, this or the atom AR. I'm looking for an urban winter jacket, with weather ranging from -2 to 5 C ish? Thanks!

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The thorium would last you longer bring down, however the atom is synthetic so easier to care for. Depends what you value really! Warmth wise the thorium is a touch warmer.

    I love my atom ar but wouldn’t mind another Arcteryx jacket that’s a little warmer and a little more breathable. Is the thorium ar that jacket?

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep the thorium isn’t very windproof but slightly warmer than the atom AR.

    Hi Jeff, thanks for the video! I got 2 Questions for you.
    No 1)I tried on the Cerium LT size medium and fitted me well. Shall I go for the Thorium in size small since it's a regular fit piece and thus wider than the Cerium LT? or it will be snug to layer a fleece or sweater underneath?
    No 2) When you zip-up your Thorium jacket about 4/5 or so, do you find the wind flaps (that are meant to protect your neck and chin) flapping around a lot or standing weirdly and bothering a bit? Do those bent over time and sit sideways towards the shoulders?
    Thanks in advance Man ✌🏻

    • @abearsmind
      @abearsmind  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there,
      #1: The Cerium LT is trim fit so if you want a slimmer fit on the Thorium sizing down will work well. I only size down on items that I want to achieve a certain layering system. Generally I always get my regular size (large).
      #2: I think mine has been ok in this regard, you can bend them away and it does much better over time. When it was new it was somewhat annoying when not zipped up all the way.
      Hope this helps!
