I saw a great explanation of this song and want to share: There are lots of Korean wordplay, so some lines of lyrics might feel awkward, These are some clues that you can understand the song more. 88: GD's birthday is 18.08.1988, So he puts his own meaning on the Number 8. That's why he wrote so many 8s in his lyrics. You can see the Metro map on 2:03, it's a track-list of his up coming album, there are 8 tracks. The last line of lyrics ("Fly high"): The original Korean lyrics' pronunciation is "Pal Pal Nara" (Means fly high). There is a wordplay as well, 'Pal' is 8, same pronunciation, and 'Pal Pal' is kind of onomatopoeia, 'Nara' is Flying, so this line was translated flying high in English. And that's why the ending scene shows 8 8 (Pal Pal) and GD jumps (Flying) (Nara) In addition, he came back in 88 months since his last comeback. The meaning the wordplay of the lyric "Spot to rest, a Global Luxury": The original Korean Lyric is this, 누울 자리 글로벌 명품 "Nu ul Jari, Global Myong pum (Glo / bal myong pum)" In here, Glo means text, lyrics, writings, everything about word or text. Global is global, the exact English word, but here's the thing, Bal myong pum is Invention. So he connected two Korean words to one English word (Glo + bal). And Myong pum is luxury, the words share same pronunciation, so these are some wordplay using pronunciation of Korean and English. This is crazy wordplay. in my opinion, GD likened home("Spot to rest") to every goal such as social status, honor, his position in the field, and he invented his goals, and it's also luxury. The main hook "I don't give a shh, Laughing end 'Money' Donating 'millions' Grin": last year, GD was suddenly investigated for drug scandal. During the investigation, every single time he attended to police station, he said "I don't care because I never drugged." At the result, the truth is GD was innocent, at the photo-line in front of the police station, he laughed. After the scandal, he recognized that the risk of drugs in Korean society, He founded a foundation for drug eradication, he donated KRW ₩ 300 million (about USD $ 218,828). So this story is where the lyrics came from. Meaning of "Power Abuse questioned Tolerance Natural Disasters Unavoidable Circumstances" During the drug investigation, journalists raised him a suspicion of Power abuse for having Drugs, at the same time, Korean News channels delivered that rumor without fact-check. However after investigation, he was innocent, and he was possible to accuse those News channels, but he was tolerant to them, he announced he will not get a court. This is the story of "Power abused questioned Tolerance" (Natural translation is like "I was tolerant when I was questioned Power Abuse"). Natural Disasters (천재지변: Chun Jae Ji Byun) = (천재, 지병: Chun Jae,[Genius] Ji Byoung[Chronic illness]) same pronunciation wordplay. Genius always has Chronic illness, and it's unavoidable circumstances (irresistible force). Meaning of "Forcefully criticize Spread a meme Talk blah blah shout out": During the investigation of drug, some news channels, fake news TH-camrs, and social media delivered GD's old interviews. In the interviews, he looked like he was addicted to drugs, because he speaks slowly, suddenly smiles, unnatural facial describing and his eyes. And these became memes and many publics criticized him. It was such a baseless criticism. People talked behind his back, but when after he finished the investigation, suddenly many people changed their attitudes, shout out him as usual like they haven't betrayed him at all. This story is where the lyrics came from.
It's so catchy! And apparently filled with meaning as I read comments online. I don't know his backstory but I just started listening to BigBang & some of his solo stuff this year. Good stuff!!!!
I feel like the concept of the übermensch which is mentioned once in the beginning plays a significant role in the theme of the song a lot of translations of the German word are kinda inaccurate and translate the word übermensch as Superman but the word über translates to above and Mensch means human so the accurate translation means above human and fits more with the definition of Nietzsches übermensch as a person that is above or superior to the ordinary human. According to Nietzsche the „übermensch“ is a desirable state of being. He names the übermensch in relation to gods and heroes. Gods have already been referenced by Nietzsche as an invention of humans and with that the übermensch also represents a condition that humans can reach by getting rid of all forms of prejudice including morality or our principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and evil which according to Nietzsche is a slave morality to keep all people at the same level of herd animals even those that could have the potential to achieve a higher state of being. Thus the übermensch is someone that defines their own values overcomes themselves and owes nothing to anyone. GD is now an übermensch he’s freed himself and doesn’t have to follow rules that have been forced on him anymore and with that he has the power and the freedom to create a version of himself that is true to his essence

GD was a global brand ambassador for Chanel as early as 2016 and was selected as the first Asian male Chanel ambassador in 2015. So all the brands our boys represent as global or Asian Ambassadors can point to GD as the living legend. GD is the origin of airport fashion. There is no area of 2nd-Gen and forward K-pop where GD as Big Bang and solo didn't pave the way. Our amazing members know this. He has gone through it and has come out like the GOAT he is. Calling out the media and others for spreading rumors as news like they did with Suga and so many others. This is gonna be a great deep dive with his album.
His korean lyrics weren't translated well, so I understand your confusion. In the beginning he says that there're some people tried to denigrate him with certain misleading photos and clips. But they got proved wrong. It could be many people but certainly reminds the incident that he was wrongfully accused for the illegal drug use charge recently and all kinds of circus around it. He donated millions for stopping illegal drug after that. That's why he mentioned donation. So basically the song is about 7 years of his life. The news show you mentioned interesting has subtitle says "a day of GD" I guess he want to say how media and people microscoping his life. But no matter what other people do, he is beautiful by being himself.
Release date/month/year, lyrics - satire of the media and GD's situation with all of them, symbolisms - 88, flying, dragons, goat, übermensch, referencing previous songs, the entire set is calling the Truman show again, it's JAM PACKED in 2:47 minutes.
The 8 tracks on the album is on the Metro Map (inside the train posted on the left). GD uses red a lot in his vids and performances. His last tour, Act III: M.O.T.T.E World Tour used the red theme with the Truman Show as an inspiration, in support of Kwon Ji Yong EP (2017). The physical release was a USB flash drive covered in red. Included in there is the track Untitled, 2014 (piano ballad). He wore a red outfit in the mv. That was one take that took about 30 mins.
BigBang has a couple of MVs that are categorized as one take and one shot. Love Song was a one-take MV since it involved an exploded car that fell from the sky, BigBang members for sure were trained and calculated all the movement to fit the timing of the explosion. Bad Boy can be categorized as one shot since they made it scene to scene simultaneously without a cut.
Try Bridge TV for the America, Narsha stuff. It seems it's old words that aren't really used anymore. You'll have to check out those vids of you want to understand GD lyrically. He always has word plays going on. It's hard if one doesn't speak Korean 😅. You have to do a lot of homework if you react to GD's songs
Take a look at Suga and the scooter DUI. Absolutely correct. Lots of times it is not the truth and it can be the big midia companies that spread it. Would love to see him and Suga in a project together in the future.
Bro just fall from his scooter for 2 seconds after having a drink with freinds and now you're comparing this to G-dragon drug controversy be fr I know he is proven innocent but you never know the truth behind this case tbh I will not be surprised if I see Suga compared to Taeil case💀
@@Sanyanisso34 I am comparing to what Roscoe said about the Media. Not GD’s case, but yeah… GD was innocent and I think it would be good if him and Suga did a project together like Taeyang and Jimin did a project together simply because I like both artists and I think they could come up with something great and personally I would like to see it happen so it can shut up some of the haters from BOTH fandoms. Because the hate is f**king petty and childish. Don’t you think?🤔
I'm curious about the robed figures. Maybe the full album that's coming soon will explain it. Almost everything he does has hidden/additional meanings.
Respect! GD was first to compose his own lyrics and produce the mvs, among a lot of other firsts. he helped shape Kpop as a global entity. Kpop idols of every generation have mad respect for him so don't embarrass your favorites by dissing him.
How often do you hear low female contralto voices in popular music? Agree, they are rare. The "dramatic contralto" voice is a very rare gift. And how often do female contraltos have a range of 3 octaves? It's hard for me to remember even one name. And a dramatic contralto of 4 octaves? At 21 years old!? Such voices are born once in 100 years. But if you add to this the richest overtones that you have heard in women, which can only be compared with a male bass, a phenomenal ability to extract two or even more notes at once (lower plus upper register, polyphonic voice!? polyharmonic), phenomenal speed of switching registers, the most complex vocal techniques, including yodel. Thank you for this reaction, Roscoe! I watched somebody else react to this song from a music perspective; he loved the beat, the music, the flow of the song. However, GD's vocal timbre was so abrasive to my ear that I felt this immediate visceral dislike and couldn't pay attention. I thought I'd get your perspective when I saw your reaction, sort of giving myself a second chance. It helped that you analyse mv's from a director's perspective and try to drill down on the lyrics. It helped me look at this mv with curiosity. Also remembering all the scuttlebutt about GD in the military and after he was discharged, I kinda think this song is all about some anger and having a point to prove. I still can't warm up to his voice, but if this is his style then I wish him all the best, his fans would want him back in the groove.
I am not sure but his lyrics might be related to some incident in 2023. South Korea has very strict laws about drugs - using marijuana, cannabis, or pot with many other drugs. In 2023, many powerful people ( prosecutors, newscasters and broadcasting stations) intensively investigated for many months because GD is a famous entertainer. He insisted that he did not use any drug from the beginning. At the end, they could not find any evidences for his involvement of that case, and they announced that he was clean and let him go from the case. According to his interview later, even though he was cooperative for this investigation and eventually he was free at the end, it was very hard experience for him.
I'm soooo down for artists speaking up against the media but man I kinda wish he went harder with the lyrics. I'd cite Polar Night as comparison. (I speak Korean and got all the wordplays & references before anyone comes for me). That said tho, I still really look forward and can't wait to listen to the full album
How hard can someone go in Korea ? As far as I notice idols dont have free speach . Like in my country rappers have political songs against the government with lyrics like " you sell lies at elections like a drug dealer, you stole even the light at the end of the tunel . You should be in jail not me " . Your society would not tolerate GD be more clear .
I think he made this song only for fun and to express his anger and sickness to media and haters...all this time and for those who accused him for drugs
Aside from dissing the media and those people who spread shit about him especially with the recent issue that he faced he is also trolling around. Some fandoms especially army are saying he flop coz Rose or even Babymonster got higher views compared to his song and also with other charting body where BTS ranked higher but like i said he is just trolling around. Imagine dropping this song in his IG live as a teaser. Yep the whole song was drop in IG live as a teaser. Also, as a heads up in his performance video he was seen at the bathroom and going out looking groogy. It was a mocked to the report of him being seen doing drugs in the bathroom.
Actually there is no army talked about him or knew he is having a comeback I see that only Yg stans are obssesed with bringing army and BTS to everything thier favorites did and play the victim card after seriously y'all need help💀

@@Sanyanisso34 here too. @ericweinman9447 2 days ago (edited) I guess when you get deeper into BTS you will discover that they and individual members, particularly the rappers, have quite a few diss tracks. As to G Dragon, I think his creativity, particularly with Big Bang, didn't involve a lot of clap back against unwarranted criticism, government harassment and internet hate. Lately he has been getting way too much of that. I love seeing him standing tall, though I wish he would show his face more so his face would be more in that of the people who wronged him. That with his lyrics would have made a forceful I'm back despite you statement.
The English subtitles of the lyrics doesn’t do his song justice… it’s not totally accurate. There’s a lot of wordplay here. GD is a genius when it comes to lyrics, music composition and word play.

So all the brands our boys represent as global or Asian Ambassadors can point to GD as the living legend. GD is the origin of airport fashion. There is no area of 2nd-Gen and forward K-pop where GD as Big Bang and solo didn't pave the way. Our amazing members know this. Even if GD is not your favorite, please understand that BTS and all of K-pop put him on a pedestal for so many reasons and give him as much respect as they do. You won't be any less of a loyal Army if you respect who they respect.
@@susieroy9476 Sorry to prove you wrong but Gdragon isn't the first idol in Kpop who produces his own songs they were Kpop artists since the 90s who were producers and performers you can check that also if you're a real fan of BTS you should now that they started with nothing recording in a garage and asking people in the street to come to thier concert for free many idols and people made fun of them back then especially the privileged once how is this relying on Gdragon shoulders💀they see him and Bigbang back then as a role model in tv and dreamed to perform at MAMA like them nothing more you don't know the full story now but if you read behind the story of BTS book that Rm and other memebers wrote you'll understand many things BTS have thier own style it's so obvious both are legends yes but BTS are who are they today because they are BTS and nobody does it like them Yg stans can't accept this facts but it's the truth I hope you understand my opinion army
@@Sanyanisso34why you are everywhere proving you are toxic
Gd have started multiple things in K-pop , he made K-pop an actual platform , most of our faves just wanted to be idols because of him including your bts , he was the first who boldly started to write and produce songs and the other companies started to let their idols write and produce backs then , they got a chance because of g dragon , he is a legend , he have don’t a lot for K-pop ,
Its pure korean word. Mir means dragon, Narsha means soar or fly up. So it means dragon flies up. And you know dragon = gdargon
waiting for this
He has gone through it and has come out like the GOAT he is.
Calling out the media and others for spreading rumors as news like they did with Suga and so many others.
This is gonna be a great deep dive with his album.
GD king of king pop❤
Release date/month/year, lyrics - satire of the media and GD's situation with all of them, symbolisms - 88, flying, dragons, goat, übermensch, referencing previous songs, the entire set is calling the Truman show again, it's JAM PACKED in 2:47 minutes.
forever king gdragon ❤
"does youtube think i'm korean again?" LOL
YT thinks I'm Korean too. I get commercials in Korean lol😂
G TO THE D 🔥
I'm curious about the robed figures. Maybe the full album that's coming soon will explain it. Almost everything he does has hidden/additional meanings.
Respect!
GD was first to compose his own lyrics and produce the mvs, among a lot of other firsts. he helped shape Kpop as a global entity. Kpop idols of every generation have mad respect for him so don't embarrass your favorites by dissing him.
Do you feel like I dissed him?
@ not at all. I was talking about some of the other comments. I think you were very fair in your analysis.

💜💜
Thousandths of meaning

설명이 너무 좋아요
I'm soooo down for artists speaking up against the media but man I kinda wish he went harder with the lyrics. I'd cite Polar Night as comparison. (I speak Korean and got all the wordplays & references before anyone comes for me). That said tho, I still really look forward and can't wait to listen to the full album
It does make me wonder what else will be said in the full album.
This is a pre-release, he would probably go crazy for the title
How hard can someone go in Korea ? As far as I notice idols dont have free speach . Like in my country rappers have political songs against the government with lyrics like " you sell lies at elections like a drug dealer, you stole even the light at the end of the tunel . You should be in jail not me " . Your society would not tolerate GD be more clear .
@@mariar3767Polar Night is a song by a korean idol (Agust D) You can look it up and read the lyrics for comparison 🙂

I think he made this song only for fun and to express his anger and sickness to media and haters...all this time and for those who accused him for drugs
A perfect interpretation is possible only when both Korean and English have the same pronunciation and meaning. I want to interpret it instead 😂
I'm waiting for his new album next I hope you'll check Jennie new mv "Mantra" and don't pay attention to the toxic fans in the comments

@@30goals What to be embarrassed about it? I am only saying what I've seen though. Not because you didn't see it or don't consider them as an army even though their accounts are a bunch of BTS-related posts then it doesn't mean it didn't exist.

I guess when you get deeper into BTS you will discover that they and individual members, particularly the rappers, have quite a few diss tracks.
He’s not the king for nothing and the fact that this is a prerelease yeah the trendsetter is back
Hello , please react to (No Right) by Tinnasit . It’s an amazing song❤
please react to Jennie Mantra
The English subtitles of the lyrics doesn’t do his song justice… it’s not totally accurate. There’s a lot of wordplay here. GD is a genius when it comes to lyrics, music composition and word play.
