Just got my RC-500. Never used a looper in my life so I have a learning curve.

Good video. One thing I’ve learned is that you need at least a 400 mA output if you’re running this off a PSU. It draws 350mA. So ‘regular’ 150 mA outputs on power bricks will cause it to cut out.

Thanks Ben, excellent video. Quick question. Is it reasonable to use the mic input on the RC-500 to record my acoustic guitar loops? I don't have a pickup installed on my acoustic guitar. I have a good Rode NT-1A mic that I can use for the mic. Also, if I used this for a live event and I am alone, is there a way to auto fade the loop out without physically needing to fade down the loop level sliders?

This is my first looper in decades of playing. What would the signal chain for pedals be? I'm putting my chorus and delay on the amp's effect's loop, but I have a tuner, wah and overdrive pedal in that order. Looper first or last in that chain? I noticed that having the RC500 first in the chain affected the drum kit sound while recording, which surprised me. I JUST unboxed this and glanced at the manual, which wasn't much help. I'm glad you have a wealth of material in your channel, but I want to get started quickly...Thanks.
Great video, but i would like to ask is this a good looper for begginers ? I have never used a looper before so iam a little confused as to which one to buy, any response would be greatly apreciated thank you.
Hey Ben, great video! So i’m really new to looping and i constantly find it an issue to where if i set up a metronome for example (not on this pedal, i’m using a Helix) I can never seen the get the loop right. when it circles back around, it goes either slower or faster according to the metronome. is there a way/ pedal that can count me down if i set it to a certain bpm, start recording, and then stop recording and start looping on its own without me touching it?
I am considering getting separate loop pedals for all instruments so they’re easily accessible where each instrument is. If I want to stop them all at once, how would I do this? External mixing board or turn off power strips?😅
Can you delete overdubs and re-record them while the initial loop keeps playing? Could do this on an older model.
Hi Ben, is there a way to globally change settings? for instance if i want the rythm track to have a volume level of 50 in ALL memories, or if i want to turn off loop sync between in all memories without having to go from memory to memory?
Thanks for your informative video. I like the Boss RC500 it's a really cool bit of kit I'm a bit bummed at the lack of different rhythm types in the drum section. It's very Latin heavy, There's no reggae one drop or ska,( I like latin but Bob Marley is more popular than Buena vista social club) no Drum and bass, and no Country (really). I bought this pedal on a whim and wish i'd played through the rhythms before I pulled the trigger. Editable drums would be so so brilliant. I really hope there are are more patterns on a firmware update...I no basically every other bit of customisation is in this box and it has some great things about it. For me, I would have traded about half that stuff for some more and/or editable drum patterns. ATM it's sitting at 3 stars and would jump right upto 5 if you could update the drums!
Hello. Did you find some solution for this ? I just get the rc500 and i am just sad that i didnt buy rc 505 where i could uplad the drum loops and us them as 1 of the 5 tracks or connect the drumsyth as slave by midi to adjust the tempo but its not possible with rc500 so why they dont speak about. Now rc 505 its only 100eur more bit seem like much better than this shitty red machine

I’ve using an RC300 and am wishing I had more tracks. Can you link RC-500s to get 4 or even 6 tracks?

Hey, thanks for all the videos you have put up. I just picked up the rc 500 and I’m having issues with it resetting constantly. A couple times I got an error message and once the sound just froze up. Do you have any idea why that would happen? I’m powering it with a strymon Zuma. I also have several other pedals in the chain. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Did you ever find out what the issue was?
@@pattillo21 I think it’s the power supply. I emailed the company and they said they can’t guarantee a third party power supply would work. Basically I only have issues when there is too much plugged into the same circuit.
@@MajesticFuzz ah gotcha. They suck you in with having to use only their products when it come to that. But it is good product though
@@pattillo21 yup, I’m using my strymon power brick still and have only had issues a few times. I’m thinking of upgrading to the rc600 whenever it comes out.

You should do a review of Aeros Loop Studio and compare it with BOSS pedals.
If you could switch between 2 drum patterns like having one pattern for a verse and another for a chorus this thing would be perfect!
Is there a way to control the instrument audio input level?
Is there anyway to stop and start individual loops recorded within the same track?
You can only undo the last loop you did on that track or stop the track altogether. There’s no way to cycle through the different loops on one track and stop the one you want to stop. So you’d have to just have to make one of the tracks the individual loop you want to stop and start. And then do your other loops on the other track.
Great getting started guide, thanks. In the Parameter guide, there's a CTL function for "ALL START" but not "ALL STOP". Is this a mistake?
hey John, have you figured out the stop all? I have my 500 on the way after using the rc 30 for years .. one of the reasons I bought it was because I saw a video saying you could stop all with 1 tap versus the rc30 having to double tap .. I found it way too hard to sing , play , and try to double tap
I used assigns (2) so you can make one button stop track one and track two with two separate assigns.
After recording a track, there is a very short time gap every when the loop starts to play. How do I remove or adjust that gap ?
Do I need a dc adaptor to use it or can I just use batteries? I'm having a hard time powering it on 🤯
Can I save the first loop while the seconds loop is playing.
Thanks for sharing the Boss RC-500 videos. I also have an RC-500 myself and I like it very much. Now my question is… is it possible to sync two Boss RC-500's via MIDI? So that you start the beat with the first RC-500 and that the second RC-500 then stays in the beat of the first RC-500? Without the need for a computer / DAW? And that they both stay at the same pace? Or is it necessary that you use a DAW / computer with it?
Rc500 A (master) 3.5 TRRS cable midi out to RC500 B ("slave") midi in
You lose the midi controller in if you did use midi
But yes it'll follow the BPM of the master rc500

Fr me the biggest problem with the RC 30 was that I couldn't actually discern the lights of the the two channels in bright sunlight. Is the RC 500 better in that respect?

Why does the The Loop Measure Feature only work while one of the two tracks are being occupied? I can’t seem to set a tempo and measure when they are both empty (blue) why is this?
Can you have different rhytms on different loops (during series mode, so 1st loop would be verse, second would be chorus with different drums)?

Does anyone know and can tell me how to make the loops i have created to stop automatically after they reach the end of the loop rather than stopping them with the footswitch?
Troubleshooting
Drum beat on
Stop is stop and hold stop it clears as it should
Record is record and hold record removes previous phrase as it should
Now sometimes when I press record after playing a phrase it stays red on screen and the button led starts flashing instead of going green and to playback my loop

I love my RC 500. But i keep having an issue where after I set up my tempo to a specific BPM, I'll record 8 measures and then the tempo will speed up after i finish laying my first track. Anyone else having this issue?? Its messing up my rhythm and everything i set up for live performances
When I Plug a pre-amp between my guitar and my Boss rc 300 It sounds so far or with echo. Do you know why?
Mine is a shit.totally instable. Error message of ‘busy unit’ but i have only one short track in memory. It doesn’t always recognize external footswitch, only sometimes. It doesn’t keep tracks in memory (yes, i do the correct steps). Sometimes when i record second track it records again the first also in the second!!! Totally disappointed
Decaffination....that's all I'm sayin'...Then maybe I could watch without nerve system overload.
