Now i take a look at the acts done here and in "Jack's Reoccurring Nightmare Circus" at USS's HHN and I find the similarities of talent displayed are truly uncanny to each other in my person opinion.
@@alexgeorge501 That’s a great point. They do seem to have similar acts. It might just be a coincidence since they’re both circus-themed. Could be some common tropes put in each show.

There’s a lot of talent on display here…Popeye doing backflips, Dagwood doing pratfalls, Betty in the Lyra…it’s sad it just didn’t connect with audiences
And the Spanish web act! A lot of talent like you said! The cast had to go through some circus training during rehearsals. It shows!
Wow! I’ve been going to universal for forever and always wanted to see the show since I’ve been a lifelong fan of rocky & bullwinkle! I would always see the banners outside of the theatre and wondered about it. Thank you for uploading this!!

Man I wish this show still existed it perfectly encapsulates the entire land. Also it’s an actual sit down show in Islands of Adventure!
They definitely need more shows, and this was a pretty fun one!
This is cool! Some of the things those actors are having to do in costumes are INSANE. Betty Boop was killing it! Also, this show has a LOT going on set and technical-wise!
That being said, I see why it was canned. Not a whole lot going on in the audience reaction territory.
Star Struck was an incredible act! Loved that part. And the amount of sets they had was impressive!
Some of the cast played multiple roles too, which included outfit changes. For example, the guy who played Popeye was one of the Bimbo dogs during Star Struck. He compared it to a pit crew changing between the costumes.

I know a lot of kids don't know who these characters are in this day and age, but they are so cute! Wish we could see them in the parks and that this show was still going on. Rollerblades on stage too!! I don't think I've ever been in this area for a show and it just sits there empty. Thanks for sharing this lost media!!
I'm still in disbelief it was made available! But there are so many worthwhile moments in this show. Would be amazing to see something in the theater again.

The show is a lot more grand and a lot less cheesy than I ever would’ve expected it to be! I for one had a lot of fun watching it but I can see why the general public who aren’t aware of these characters wouldn’t be too fond of the show.
Though what still eludes me is what other Comic Syndications Universal had/has for Toon Lagoon, as Alley-Oop, Heathcliff, Broom-Hilda and Marmaduke all appear in this show at some point, as well in the land’s theming (with the exception of Alley) despite not being Kings Features Syndicate.
I think how “bad” the show was got incredibly exaggerated over the years. I was pleasantly surprised how fun it is!
And that’s an interesting point!
I do have an interesting theory regarding this taped show… was this the last public performance of it? Like if you listen carefully at the end, the guy with the vaccum cleaner says: “Thanks for the memories”

You're very observant! Yes, this is believed to be the final show. I can't verify that, but it's at least from the week leading up to its closure.
words can’t describe how happy this has made me i feel like they could bring it back atleast for one more show atleast and people would flood that theater but it’s up to them at this point thank you for being that one channel i can rely on for theme park history stuff :)
That’d be great! Though, there was a lot of rehearsing and a pretty complicated set/process involved. Might be hard to get it back up and running. 😊
2 things that really strike me with this is that, there’s nothing to suggest why it was pulled so quickly unless it’s the amount of performers & that would lead to higher running costs.
And the quality of the video is incredible for its age. They must have had great kit to get this type of footage.
I believe performers make more than standard team members. This was a well-staffed show with a lot of crew and cast. I’m sure it wasn’t cheap to run. I’ve heard there were days that there were more people on stage than in the bleachers, so attendance/popularity was an issue-could be due to characters from bygone era.
My guess is that this was shot professionally! Very stable and crisp (for the time).
@@StorybookAmusement Islands attendance was also really bad the first year thanks to the company not marketing it as a new park. Almost all of the marketing just promoted "Universal Orlando Escape" with little to no mention of Islands being a whole new theme park.

You know i read a comment on some of the first footage revealed for the show and someone who saw they show before said that the janitor is from rocky and bullwinkle. Im not sure that's completely true but i can kinda see it.

This show was honestly a lot of fun and really good. I feel parts could have been reworked for a more full show, but It was a lot better then expected.
I feel like the show's reputation got more exaggerated as time went on. Since people couldn't see it, the legend kind of grew and grew. I'm very pleased to see it was pretty fun and had some impressive stunts! Catchy songs too.

My mother has plans to go to Walt Disney World AND Universal Studios Florida for next year. And I plan to draw crystal-hearts for the meet-and-greet characters. So far, I've covered some of Dr. Seuss' characters, the statues and staff of Disney Springs' LEGO store and Disney's Fab Five.

Man. So much research and effort went into this show! As somebody who is so geeky that I can name every character in Cartoon Lagoon, it just makes me happy that people went to all this trouble for these old characters!
If the jokes and gags fall flat it may just be the slow timing of it all. Dudley DoRight was a show so badly animated that by design it used dialogue and funny voices to really sell it. So it’s a shame that his bits are missing all the verbal repartee and puns. I mean, Snideley Whiplash would NEVER be that quiet about kidnapping Nell! I feel like a few tweaks could’ve made the show much more zippy and funny.
All that said, I can see why it failed to stick around. It’s a really costly show to maintain, and not entirely captivating when there are well-themed rides to go on just steps away.
A lot of the in between bits were so that they could reset the stage and do some costume changes. With how quickly the show was put together, those scenes may not have gotten a lot of attention when writing the script. For what it was, the show was fun!
