Ugly? Wow! I thought my eyes were bad 😂 In the current age of soulless glass and plastic bowls, I'm really glad that we are retaining a traditional, brick-built, four-sided football ground. I think the detailing is well thought out and compliments the external asthetics. And each stand should have it's own character, and look. Traditionally football stadiums in the UK have been 4 separate stands and always been a bit of a hotch-potch of sizes & designs. I love the new stands.
As has been said, this is an old school stadium. Each stand has it's own character and is of it's time. Anfield has been changing like this from the start, as each stand became outdated they got replaced. The modern stadia have their own appeal but I like having four distinctive stands. Each is a building in it's own right. I never liked the old Centenery Stand (SKDS), looks dated now but it's design was limited by the space it occupied. I love the new stands though, new but full of character.
I don't agree that it's ugly. In time they will hopefully upgrade/modernise the other two stands. But as we know they are a bit more of a chal to do. But in all I love the look of the stadium. Great viedo as always, keep up the good work.
Thank's for your amazing dedication to your coverage at this critical time in the build. Lot's going on "ON and Off the Pitch. It looks like they have installed the staircases up onto the roof at each end and a lot of new window frames have been installed. Exciting times. Many thanks 👍
The stadium has always looked odd with differ sized stands. Bit that’s why I love it as it has character. If and when the do the SKD stand then it has to match the main stand. I wonder if the club keep an eye out for properties that come up for sale on Skerries road? There’s currently 2 of them up for sale at the moment.
Proper old school stadium with loads of character. I love it to bits. I'd genuinely been devastated if we left Anfield and built a soulless bowl like all the others. As for the FSG statement... have a day off. I personally am grateful they chose to redevelop Anfield.
Anfield Stadium is a fantastic stadium. Throughout the decades, it has always changed for the better. I think the Kop will be the next stand to be done because of the High Street needs to regenerated for the local residents with shops and making the Anfield area a more welcoming area to be in. I’m a RED through and through, and I love Anfield Stadium 🥰🌟👍⚽❤The raw inside the stadium next season is absolutely going to be fantastic. The team next season will perform extremely well. YNWA 🍺🍺
The club will have to buy up and demolish the Skerries Road houses that back onto it to expand the SKD stand in the same style as the 2 newer stands. Where the Kop runs close to the road will make it difficult (not impossible) to redevelop it. The 2 new stands are fairly generic in design, I think they could've done something more unique with them but I don't think it's ugly.
@@aq1974_ I think the new stand's are great. They look unique and not like the rest of those 'bowl' type stadiums. The architecture looks like a combination of both traditional and modern design.
FSG wanted to keep the stadium with an authentic old or classic style with four separate stands if that makes sense I know they all connect but there’s no corners so it’s not like a bowl it looks great
Brilliant work Mr Drone thank you for doing the video of Anfield and keeping us all in the loop with the construction work that's going on at our beloved club , 🔥YNWA🔥
Hi Nick great coverage again. Not sure what that person was talking about Anfield. Its one of the most iconic stadiums in the world for watching football with great atmosphere you can here both home and away supporters singing chanting. Ps glad your lad is on the mend and back to work. Andy
All being well first section of the old roof of Anfield rd stand will come down at 8am this Saturday morning, will be long process been talking to someone working on the inside he doesn't know what's happening to the old seats mate , keep up the fantastic work done over these months showing the work that's gone on ,, and the shots of skyline of ground & city is amazing .....
Thanks again for footage mate, glad to hear your son is getting better and is well enough to return to work. In terms of how the stadium looks, I think other comments have covered it 😂 It's going to look and feel fantastic when it's finished. Thanks again for your dedication and commitment Nick, it's very much appreciated ❤
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but my view is that the ground will look amazing when the Anfield Road end is complete. I’m looking forward to being in the new fan zone under the stand next season 👍
Another great update Nick, I'm sure everyone appreciates your dedication 👍Just a couple of things you might want to take a look at next time you're over here, firstly some demolition of the old masonry at the SKD end of the original stand has commenced (all of that masonry will come down eventually). Secondly but not related to the demolition, you'll notice the side cladding at the Main Stand end now has its bottom edge angled at 35 degrees to follow the same line as the new terracing (every thing below that line will be brickwork and match that end of the Main Stand). Lastly, the heavy duty timber beams on the pitch are needed to protect it partly from the extendable stabilisers on the crane. Those stabilisers have a relatively small footprint and consequently transfer an awful lot of weight to a very small area (a bit like a stiletto heel does), the crane in your video (10.0 mins) is an example of this but it will also provide far greater protection for when the crawler cranes arrive on the pitch. Lastly you're correct mate, the assembly on the fabrication jig is the final front span that will connect the new roof with the roof of the SKD stand. It won't be installed until the demolition is complete. Keep up the great work Nick, it's appreciated.
Hi Steve. Have you noticed they have delivered orange jig or stand adjusters to the Main Rd end corner carpark. Appreciate your insight to the build process.
@@stum56 The only jig onsite that I'm aware of is the one next to the Shankly Gates at that end of the SKD car park but it's something to keep an eye on.
Hi Steve you seem to be quite a knowledgeable person when it comes to engineering. Been watching these Videos (including Bramley Moor Dock) for the last 2 years, great job fella. As an Ipswich season ticket holder with our club on the rise again I can't wait to get into both of these iconic stadiums in due course, maybe a cup match next season for Anfield and both the following year in the PL :)
Great drone footage mate of what's going on in the new Anfield road end. I have just subscribed to your channel really appreciate and like what you do my friend keep up the good work. Looking forward to another great drone in the sky. 👍
Good morning, thanks for your early morning efforts I reckon they'll do the Kop next, make it a single tier wall of noise type stand, add an additional 4000 seats or so to fit it in the footprint off the Stadium (maybe just hanging over the road...) hit 65000 capacity and then wait to do the SKD, leaving 3 matching modern stands and one classic stand, as it were, and a max capacity stadium without over investing in transport infrastructure... I hope the Peter Taylor stand at City Ground looks as good as the ARS and MS both do when it is completed...
Great video Nick and lots of progress. Most of that exterior brick work has been completed and looks very nice. It’s a very unique design seeing that all the stands have been done built at different times. I’m sure it’s been a challenge for the architects and engineers to make it all work. I’m a bit partial of course but SoFi Stadium in LA is a much nicer design but it was constructed all at one time so the design is cohesive and makes a complete statement. Cheers!
Anfield has come on leaps and bounds. From what it was way back from 1892. To see it developed to what we are seeing today it is looking absolutely fantastic. With the kop and sir Kenny Dalglish stand I can see what he is saying. Fsg surely be considering updating both stands at this precise moment let's see what happens in future.
I love how Anfield looks. With things such as the Taylor Report post-Hillsborough it meant that things such as standing would be a thing of the past in the top divisions, which has resulted in larger capacity increases or brand new stadia. I’d rather they have done what they’ve done as opposed to the Gillett and Hicks idea to build a new stadium with no soul. At the end of the day with exception of The Kop (as that had no choice but to be rebuilt from scratch) the other stands still retain parts of the older stadium
Thanks for all your fantastic videos, Nick. I (we) really appreciate the time and effort that you've put in for our benefit. Are you doing a Saturday vid? The Run for the 97 is in Stanley Park from 9:30am this Saturday ... be nice to see you if you're there and wave at your drone 🙂
Great shots of the existing roof truss. Looking forward to watching the removal of this roof girder . Can only assume it will require some form of propping from the terracing below as it cannot be removed in it's entirety.
It will be lowered down to where they've removed those rows of seats and cut up in the stadium. I presume they will have a second crane brought in in the next few days.
I like the ground, looks great, I hope KD stand can be updated at some point, can't see how we would be able to update the kop with the restrictions behind the stand
@@martybyrde743 the Albert won't sell and at the corner which meets KD which is closest to the road their is the church opposite which cannot be moved. Then the question of all the homes behind KD which are protected by the right to light law preventing an extension unless the club starts buying all the houses up
i personally don’t like the asymmetry of it, never have. but form follows function. i think the area around it needs a massive do-over, then maybe the rest of the stadium can be built to match and not lose that close, closed in atmosphere. a train station there would be nice too
I love it Mr Drone, it doesn’t look horrible it looks great. As some have said it’s the atmosphere that’s better. Would you rather a good looking stadium & a crappy atmosphere or as this person said a horrible looking stadium & a great atmosphere. It’s our history of each stand being different & it’s great that FSG are honouring that. Am I only one that taught your audio as a big lagging behind your visuals?
I don't understand the FSG out people. I know there have been a few blips along the way but those have been sorted but look at what has been achieved on and of the field since they took over. As far as the stadium looks. It looks fantastic and it's going to look even more fantastic when the Anfield Rd stand is finished.
Hi Nick, thankyou for taking the time to make these clips a daily event while you cover the dismantling of the old roof and remodelling of the A.R. stand. Regarding that comment, everybody is entitled to their own opinions, yeah I understand the opinion of Anfield looking lopsided. The point of F.S.G. saving money is: F.S.G. have always looked at Liverpool as an investment opportunity, by cheap to sell high at the most profit. Yeah F.S.G. have invested money to make the Liverpool brand increase in value BUT they took the cheaper option of expanding the current stadium rather than building a knew one, and further still, they took the cheaper option of expanding The Anfield Rd stand rather than expanding The S.K.D.. F.S.G. entered into an agreement to expand the Anfield Capacity to over 60 000 when they bought Liverpool, as part of the contract. When The Anfield Rd stand is finished they will have achieved that agreement. I've made my opinions on this clear several times Nick, Liverpool need to build a stadium elsewhere if they're going to be the competitive club that we all want them to be. HOWEVER, F.S.G. did enter into an agreement as part of the planning permission to expand the main-stand, to assist in redeveloping the Anfield area. So, F.S.G. may be looking at a long-term plan, of redeveloping the anfield area ....ensuring that there is space to expand The S.K.D. and The Kop, by demolishing properties, and re-routing roads, ...idk. (Of course those families would be relocated into newly built luxury apartment buildings, which I believe will be orientated horizontally, on top of retail/business opportunities etc.
Mr Drone - The steel being painted at the rear of the stand is being painted with an Intumescent fire protection, to ensure, if there is a fire in the AC and Chiller plant sat on the flat roof, the fire protected steel will protected against fire for a period of an hour or two to allow people to exit and any fires to be extinguished.
Disagree with that one comment stadium looks and fsg milking the club, personally I think they’ll end up devolving the other 2 stands in time so all 4 will blend in, fsg milking us well, they’ve made LFC a world wide brand, got the kit deal with Nike, we are not in debt like before with the 2 previous Americans I could go on, love the videos misterdrone
Sorry Gareth, I've got to disagree. FSG got the bargain of the century for what was already one of the biggest clubs in the world. They are maximising the size of the stadium which increases the value of their asset, but the repayments for ground improvements have meant little money to spend on players. The fans/club are paying for the stand extensions when they should be paying for it themselves to allow the team to be improved. It's like the tenants of a property paying for an extension on the house they live in, and the landlord is the beneficiary.
Great vid as always Mr D Personally, Anfield's beautifully unique to me. All four stands having their own character, even going back to those long elongated floodlights that used to sit on top of the old Kemlyn Road ( Kenny Stand ) Good news on your lad. Hope the Blues do the business Sunday, more derbies next season.
What it looks like botch it and leg it construction built it every side is different and a lot of parts of the stand are so far away you need binoculars, every roof is different size ,at least your football team are doing OK though were hopeless and in a terrible mess ,take care and be safe
Anfield is historic and beautiful. It is a proper football ground, not a soulless American style bowl. Amazing atmosphere and footballers all over Europe talk about what a great stadium it is. I think the SKD stand may only have cosmetic changes rather than increase in capacity due to the residents behind. The Kop however is very deep and is actually a fairly shallow incline. If they could make the Kop less deep and a higher incline to add more seats - I could see that happening as it would not affect the road behind the stand. I guess the only obstacle from there is if the Kop is made with a higher incline the right to light for the residents and businesses on the other side of the road comes into play. Keep up the good work, really enjoy the vids and commentary.
Thanks Nick, really appreciate your time and efforts on keeping us all up to dates with what’s going on. As for the stadium, I’m pretty confident every true Liverpool fan will have wanted this ground to be updated as opposed to building a brand new stadium. The history Anfield has got is second to none, so very important to keep it where is is and to just update the place. Thanks again mate 👍🏻
I’m sure one of the EFC official vids talked about the releasing of the blue supports and then there will be a period of settlement - in much the same way it has settled in the north stand. They said their measurements in regards to the expected “settlement” of the supports was within mm’s.
The new frame on the flat roof of the stand is new. It’s the same as on the main stand and will just be a screen for all the equipment behind. To the guy who was complaining about the aesthetics of the ground, yeah it’s not a bowl like most new grounds these days and to be frank I like it that way. Keeps the history of the ground and is identifiable and tbh it’s not fair to judge whilst it’s still a building site. Exciting times for the build right now, moving at a pace and once the old roof has gone we’ll see it in all its glory. I reckon it’ll be substantially down by the weekend. Keep up the good work!!
Great video Nick thanks I’m in liverpool tomorrow with 2 of my brothers one is over from Australia he wants to see the Beatles stuff I’m the Liverpool fan so I may nip up and get a photo with my brothers Bill Shanley gates.
Great videos, as usual mr drone keep up the good work. The mainstand and anfield road redevelopment have definitely beautified the surrounding areas .If SKD stand can be developed as the other 2 stands, then the stadium and surrounding areas would look aesthetically way better, but at the moment, it is a mismatch of a stadium.. FSG haven’t really invested any personal money into the club as the money from the development's has come from clubs operating turnover and personal loans and a lot of oot money.. nevertheless, FSG's vision for development has been spot on .I think a lot of the houses behind SKD stand are rental properties, so maybe one day, development on that side might be possible.
One thing I dislike, is how the main stand seats have already discoloured compared to the rest of the stadium, considering they’ve only been there for a few years. I wonder if this is due to the direction they’re facing (always in sun) or if it’s because they are cheaper
Yeah it’s due to their direction, the seats in the main stand are south facing so they see most of the sunlight each day, plus the main stand roof doesn’t shade them much in the lower section
@@jackkeenan2039 Red is the colour most affected by UV light (sunlight) and the reason why you should never buy a red car in hot sunny countries, it's always going to fade much quicker than other colours would.
They can be easily brought back to new applying heat. The heat brings the oil content to the surface again giving them that new shiny look. Until they go dull again that is😂
The mats they are offloading are 7.5m steel mats which are going to be used to taking the loadings of 2 crawler cranes used to remove the lower part of the stand
That first comment on the Vlog clearly doesn't know much regarding how the funding for the stand has been done. there was an interest free loan from FSG to be able to pay for the new stand. FSG have not raised ticket prices after the fans rejected it (this changed recently after a 5 year? freeze on pricing) FSG asked the fans if they wanted a new stadium or to stay at anfield with redevelopment to a 60k seater Anfield. They will deliver on that when this stand opens next season. Personally I love the way Anfield looks and the way they have kept it is testament to how FSG listened to the fans. Thanks for another great update MrD #YNWA
Everton Supporter trying to be impartial here. Anfield looks great from the inside, the four different stands does give it some individuality, and the atmosphere is great. The 2 new stands look good from the outside but the KDS and especially the kop look a bit of a mess. My biggest problem is the view of the stadium as seen from the local area. The exposed roof trusses on the Main and KDS are huge and ugly.
Main stand and Anfield road end have similar design, (the right roof corner of Anfield road allows the join to a new kenny stand to be similar to the main stand. Up kennys stand(from 11,000 to 20,000) leave the kop unique and you have 70,000 stadium
Been wondering how the winds off the Mersey might effect my decision about where to plump for my season ticket and just how wind proof the stands and roof will be. Love the south stand with its view back over the city so really undecided. Cost will of course be a factor too.
I think you need to get here tonight mate, the crane has turned up in Stanley park car park, a load of glass has been delivered... never seen the car park so busy
The way I understand it is that if the capacity goes above 70k,then local infrastructure and transport in order to cope with that many would need upgrading.I believe there is a freight branch railway line that is still in use,so a railway station local to Anfield would need to be a consideration.
I have heard there may be water taxis doing the same routes across. Where they can dock next to BMD I have no idea. Also, there are some ideas being scoped out by a company to put a floating car park in the Nelson dock adjacent to BMD.
Nick, when do you have time to do your own job? Hahaha your dedication to this is admirable. Thanks for the new video today and looking forward to tomorrows one 👍💪
I always hate anything that does not have balance so my only gripe is that it’s not at the same height and does not wrap around and join in with the main stand! But IT seems like they struggle to fit it in the sleeve they have so I guess it’s what they’re working with!
Hi Mr. Drone great content as usual ❤ the stadium once finished will be like an old fashioned type of stadium but I think that's a good thing. Just my opinion.

Anfield stadium looks amazing
Good morning, thanks for your early morning efforts
I reckon they'll do the Kop next, make it a single tier wall of noise type stand, add an additional 4000 seats or so to fit it in the footprint off the Stadium (maybe just hanging over the road...) hit 65000 capacity and then wait to do the SKD, leaving 3 matching modern stands and one classic stand, as it were, and a max capacity stadium without over investing in transport infrastructure...
I hope the Peter Taylor stand at City Ground looks as good as the ARS and MS both do when it is completed...
Thanks for the update, always look forward to your excellent updates
Great video Nick and lots of progress. Most of that exterior brick work has been completed and looks very nice. It’s a very unique design seeing that all the stands have been done built at different times. I’m sure it’s been a challenge for the architects and engineers to make it all work. I’m a bit partial of course but SoFi Stadium in LA is a much nicer design but it was constructed all at one time so the design is cohesive and makes a complete statement. Cheers!
Fair play mate, that is quick edit turnaround!
Great update Nick thanks for this video
Anfield has come on leaps and bounds. From what it was way back from 1892. To see it developed to what we are seeing today it is looking absolutely fantastic. With the kop and sir Kenny Dalglish stand I can see what he is saying. Fsg surely be considering updating both stands at this precise moment let's see what happens in future.
Another great vidio Mr.Drone.👍
I love how Anfield looks. With things such as the Taylor Report post-Hillsborough it meant that things such as standing would be a thing of the past in the top divisions, which has resulted in larger capacity increases or brand new stadia. I’d rather they have done what they’ve done as opposed to the Gillett and Hicks idea to build a new stadium with no soul. At the end of the day with exception of The Kop (as that had no choice but to be rebuilt from scratch) the other stands still retain parts of the older stadium
Carrier Bag will be very impressed!
Someone's showing their age with the Wacky Racers reference......golden oldie !
Great work again md. Thanks mate
Good work lad 👏🏾
I like the ground, looks great, I hope KD stand can be updated at some point, can't see how we would be able to update the kop with the restrictions behind the stand
What restriction are you talking here?
@@martybyrde743 the Albert won't sell and at the corner which meets KD which is closest to the road their is the church opposite which cannot be moved. Then the question of all the homes behind KD which are protected by the right to light law preventing an extension unless the club starts buying all the houses up
That's shot of the drone approaching you - reminded me of the title sequence for Father Ted 😂 brilliant!
Another top class video👍👍👍
More roof cladding done on the shoulder of the SKD side and more side cladding done on the main stand side. Nice 1 nick
i personally don’t like the asymmetry of it, never have. but form follows function. i think the area around it needs a massive do-over, then maybe the rest of the stadium can be built to match and not lose that close, closed in atmosphere. a train station there would be nice too
I love it Mr Drone, it doesn’t look horrible it looks great.
I agree with you Nick
It’s a great stadium. We know this because visiting teams hate playing there.
I don't understand the FSG out people. I know there have been a few blips along the way but those have been sorted but look at what has been achieved on and of the field since they took over. As far as the stadium looks. It looks fantastic and it's going to look even more fantastic when the Anfield Rd stand is finished.
Always a brilliant insight !!!
I think the stadium looks great! It's a nice blend of modernisation and keeping the traditional 4-stand set up as opposed to the large bowls we see.
Spot on
Sorry Gareth, I've got to disagree.
Great vid as always Mr D
Personally, Anfield's beautifully unique to me.
All four stands having their own character, even going back to those long elongated floodlights that used to sit on top of the old Kemlyn Road ( Kenny Stand )
Good news on your lad.
Hope the Blues do the business Sunday, more derbies next season.
Anfield is not ugly. It's filled with character and doesn't look like other stadiums do.
Anfield is a fabulous stadium, as it is, much better than the tin can floating in the Mersey!
What it looks like botch it and leg it construction built it every side is different and a lot of parts of the stand are so far away you need binoculars, every roof is different size ,at least your football team are doing OK though were hopeless and in a terrible mess ,take care and be safe
Fabulous stadium lol it’s a shed with pink seats I rather the tin can over that
@@Sutty0151 ye all day ,it's just a mess our new ground is a example of a stadium built solely for fans ,stay true so be blue
❤ from Rotterdam
Why be like every other ground? We are unique, we are Liverpool.
Looks good to me
I’m sure one of the EFC official vids talked about the releasing of the blue supports and then there will be a period of settlement - in much the same way it has settled in the north stand.
Brilliant stadium with character … villa fan
I think they will do the other 2 stands eventually and it will look awesome
Great video Nick thanks
I’m in liverpool tomorrow with 2 of my brothers one is over from Australia he wants to see the Beatles stuff I’m the Liverpool fan so I may nip up and get a photo with my brothers Bill Shanley gates.
Until they go dull again that is😂
Thanks for the reply’s guys.
Hopefully they’ll be able to make them shiny red again.
a company called Owatrol make a colour restorer for plastic. People use it on cars and composite doors and works amazingly well.
Anfield is beautiful the way it is. Don't change it. Improve it and make it bigger and better but dont change it's looks. Anfield is unique.
Thanks for another great update MrD

Everton Supporter trying to be impartial here. Anfield looks great from the inside, the four different stands does give it some individuality, and the atmosphere is great. The 2 new stands look good from the outside but the KDS and especially the kop look a bit of a mess. My biggest problem is the view of the stadium as seen from the local area. The exposed roof trusses on the Main and KDS are huge and ugly.
Main stand and Anfield road end have similar design, (the right roof corner of Anfield road allows the join to a new kenny stand to be similar to the main stand. Up kennys stand(from 11,000 to 20,000) leave the kop unique and you have 70,000 stadium
i agree i thinks an amazing stadium and like filip said if we can get the other 2 stans done and get 70k+ capacity i think its right up there
Been wondering how the winds off the Mersey might effect my decision about where to plump for my season ticket and just how wind proof the stands and roof will be.
I belive there is a closed railway station near Liverpool football club ,but will need alot of investment to reopen the station 🚉
They used to say that if it went over 60k
I have heard there may be water taxis doing the same routes across. Where they can dock next to BMD I have no idea. Also, there are some ideas being scoped out by a company to put a floating car park in the Nelson dock adjacent to BMD.
I love the look of the stadium, I think it looks timeless. It will age well compared to the all glass continuous bowl stadiums, I think.
Nick, when do you have time to do your own job? Hahaha your dedication to this is admirable. Thanks for the new video today and looking forward to tomorrows one 👍💪
We not a modern club , we are Liverpool FC , ❤ it going to be insane with all them seats now , ❤
I always hate anything that does not have balance so my only gripe is that it’s not at the same height and does not wrap around and join in with the main stand! But IT seems like they struggle to fit it in the sleeve they have so I guess it’s what they’re working with!
Hi Mr. Drone great content as usual ❤ the stadium once finished will be like an old fashioned type of stadium but I think that's a good thing. Just my opinion.
Anfield is an aesthetic 🏟️. It does need a 3 tier S.K.D Stand. To totally modernize the 🏟️. Add a screen? Give it a More Symmetrical Vista.
