What an awesome video! I love playing with Gelatos but haven't in so long. Time to get them out!! Thanks for the fun and inspiration. I look forward to seeing the next video you put up.
I have some watercolour crayons which I haven't used so will try some of these techniques using my stencils. Thank you for sharing the techniques! Appreciated
I love my gelatos. When I want to seal them I put matte medium on a gel plate with a brayer and then press my piece onto it. A good burnish and lift it straight up and it’s good to go when dry. This is a great video showing several ways to use them. TFS
So much good information, especially for a newbie mixed media person! After a few years of making nice, but somewhat balanced cards, I'm now exploring looser techniques. I appreciate your videos and the time it took to produce such a lovely tutorial.
I've had gelatos for over a year that I bought in a creative frenzy then never used them. Thanks so much for your wonderful and inspirational tutorial. I'm going to get my gelatos and other craft supplies out this afternoon and play!
I know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
So much to learn!! I add paper and paint and stamps to my junk and art journals, so I'm very excited to be learning how to use these. Thank you! joie xxx 💕😀🌿
Put Matt medium on nonstick craft sheet and roll it out with a brayer. Then put your gelato‘ card gelato side down onto the mat medium. Lift straight up. No smudging ;) Beautiful cards!!! I always forget about my gelatos!
I have a few gelatos and only used with a baby wipe to put on cardstock! Thanks for showing all the ways to use them, especially putting down gesso first! Love your cards and the tissue paper flower! 😀
Just ordered earlier today my first Gelatos and now I bumped into your video. So happy I found your amazing video and so happy I will have my own Gelatos next week :)
Awe, thank you so much. I'm touched you found it so valuable. I LOVE gelatos. Such deeply pigmented little sticks. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😍
Looking forward to the full video on the last card! I have gelatos and use them mostly in my art journal. Thanks for leaving in all the boo boos...helps us learn.
I have never seen any of Your videos. I love this one!!! I have never seen Gelatos that I don't eat either! LOL! These are really cool! They remind Me of pastels that are not oily. COOL! COOL!! COOL!!! I cannot wait to try these on some cards or maybe even on the background of one of My paintings after setting them. Anyway, I did give You a thumbs up and I did subscribe also. I am so happy that I am seeing Your channel for the first time. Well, Blessings sent Your way and Looking forward to seeing more of Your talents. 😊👍🏼
I love the effect created by the coloring medium! I have gelatos, but have not reached them much, since I felt it’s not that versatile, but after watching all of these techniques, I think I’ll start using them again.
I just have to say how impressed I am with how you used gelatos. When they were first put on the market I did not in CUNY way come up with your take on them. So to the shelf they went. I have never seen anybody use them as well as you. That flower card is gorgeous, therefore when I get my commitment cards done I’m gonna try again with them. Maybe just maybe I’ll get somewhere! Thanks so much for putting up this tute on them!
Great techniques for Gelato. I'm definitely going to try these ideas. Haven't had them out in quite a while. Now I have some fun ways to use them. Thank you for your inspiration. Happy Crafting 😃
So much fun! I love my gelatos. To seal them, use a paintbrush. You can do it with gel medium too, not just the liquid. But as long as your paintbrush is dry the color doesn’t move at all. I put the matte medium on my work surface (not directly on my project) because in my experience it makes them wet & then the color will move. Then I dip my brush in the medium & bring it to the paper. It seals the gelatos wonderfully, & you don’t move or lose any of the color.
Never heard of that, besides gelati as in tasty handmade ice cream 😂😂 I wonder though if it even makes sense for me to try and buy them. I bet they are not easy to find and import to switzerland.
I have played with gelatos, but nothing serious because I didn't really know what I was doing. Thanks for this video, I'll start using gesso and matte medium, which should help greatly. Love that tissue paper technique.
I like to play with my gelatos, too. When I want to fix them, or use gesso on a card, I quite often apply the medium to my gelli plate with a brayer, then press the paper surface onto the medium. I can add several thin layers to protect the gelatos without the fear of scraping into the surface or removing any of the colour. It works great!
Beautiful cards. They turned out very pretty. When I set my gelatos I do it on the gelli plates. I will in a layer of clear gesso or clear medium and then put the card ontop and roll the back with a brayer. Then if I need another layer I repeat. It works great without the worry of scratching or smearing the gelatos.
Me too, now. 😂 One of the commenters turned me into that the year I released this video. I'm with you... It's the best way, hands down!!! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to offer that in a comment. 😘😍🎨
Great techniques. Great videos loaded with lots of inspirations. I have the gelatos since it first came out but could not get them to blend. Now I know why. I tried your techniques. Had fun and they came out great. Thank you, thank you.
Hint to help, water based KILZ is the same thing basically as gesso, saves you a ton of money, I ve used it for years on paper and canvas, a quart for under 9 bucks!!!
My Gelatos came today from Amazon. Its a box that also has 3 stamps, a paint brush and a pallet knife. I haven't used them yet, I wanted to learn what to do with them first. This is a great video, very informative. Thank you.
@@IngridBlackburn thank you, I have just subscribed to you so I will be watching more of your videos. I've been a card making for years, but over the last 6 months I'm getting interested in other arts and crafts
I LOVE your enthusiasm!! Gelatos are so easy to get excited about! I love them too. It great to see how other people use them. I do use the whipped with mine. It truly is a vibrant pigment! Loved your video!
I have rediscovered Gelatos and now appreciate them even more than I did a few years ago. I don’t do so much crafting/card making anymore and am focusing on developing my fine art. I do a lot of small abstract pieces and these little gems are so beautiful to make the soft and flowing organic shapes that I love. And the blending and layering is outstanding. They are not lightfast, however, and so I would only reproduce them for prints for work I wanted to sell. I wish Faber Castell would make Gelatos that are lightfast rated with artist quality pigments. That would be great 👍 but they would cost a lot more.
Thanks so much! I had great fun watching your tutorial! I've had a bit of a problem spreading the gelatos in the past bc they kind of dried too quickly for me. And I often found myself using too much water which only served to fade the vibrancy of some of the beautiful colors. But your suggestion to use gesso has solved this problem for me and now I can enjoy the gelatos more! So thanks again!
I love this! It's so beautiful! I never know how to go back in and fix any mistakes I made on my cards, so I end up throwing a lot of them away. I've always wanted to try gelatos too but never got courage to buy them lol. You make card making look so easy and beautiful. 😍 Love watching your videos ♥️
