They were distinctive and built to last. They were the workhorses of Toronto’s transit system from the 1930s to the 1990s. It’s nice to see them still in use in your city.
I had many opportunities to ride these beauties while attending college in Toronto three decades ago. My late dad practically lived in these PCCs, going from his apartment to work and back again in the 1950s and 1960s.

Thank you Irene! These cars definitely bring back some nice memories. It’s nice to see they are still running in Kenosha.

It's great to see that some of Toronto's former PCC cars continue to serve transit riders. Plus it shows how good they were. Few know, that with it's final purchase of used PCC cars in the late 50's-early 60's, the TTC had the largest fleet of PCC cars in North America. Also, what few people know was that the PCC program was almost cancelled. When the TTC placed its first order of almost 150 cars in 1938, the program was saved, and the cars went on to be purchased by several other transit companies, both in Canada and the U.S.

Thanks for the kind comment! I don't know much about what exactly they refurbished, but from what I see the only thing they installed was the wheelchair lift. There is no A/C in the cars, but the line is right along Lake Michigan so I'm sure the breeze is nice off the lake during the hot summer days.

What an odd but charming little system. Do the cars have A/C for the summer or was the only thing they added during refurb the handicap ramp?
    Anyway, great footage and editing!
