- Old footages of master Tatang Illustrisimo with master Ben Lema.
Have no clue of when this footage have been taken/ Looks like it’s been shoot in Cebu, but not sure. If someone knows, I will appreciate if he share information with everyone on the commentary section.

Note the difference in their stances. Master Lema maintains a firm grounded stance with which to deliver hard and fast strikes while master Ilustrisimo focuses on evasive shifting footwork and targeted strikes. Different philosophies, but deadly all the same.

I started out from MK, and now am interested in Ilustrisimo bladeworks. This vid’s a perfect inspiration for me. Two masters, different styles. Salamat po.
Tresured recollection videos ot tatang Illustrisimo
From what I know, this video was taken in Manila. Mang Ben Lema and Tatang Illustrisimo relocated to Manila in their later years. It is in here that they mingled together, and also their groups. It is also important to note that Mang Ben came from Western Visayas and Tatang was born in Cebu, the "heart" of Central Visayas (though he traveled and grew up to and in a lot of places). Any claims of both masters meeting when they were young are unfounded.
Some old-school practitioners of LSAI and KI who were lucky enough to "reach a time" when both were still alive (like Prof. Bot Jocano) would attest that both groups and teachers were very close to each other. Even today, I would say, some LSAI groups and teachers maintain a close relationship with KI groups and teachers.

The Ilistrisimo, style is simple and easy to incorporate into most any style. It will surely help defend against low line attacks, as will the pike! Although, the cross step is much more flexible than the pike. Trust
even in friendly interaction they were apprehensive when crossing sticks/blades with Tatang .
