The city of Charlotte needs to stop allowing these people to drive around with the paper tags on their cars. Many of these tags are out of date. These drivers have to show proof of insurance to get a tag. Mecklenburg County and the Charlotte Police Department are allowing uninsured motorist to drive around the streets of Charlotte. While honest people are paying the uninsured insurance costs bills.
Exactly this. Our 1975 WNC mountain home was built to Florida hurricane code (over-built by NC code standards). Yet, in 50 years, only one mod; roof changed to metal from shingle.
Also, devaluing as frivolous building to a higher code standard in a harsh weather environment, glosses over the point of no structural re-builds needed in 50 years.
Our insurance isn’t high enough already I guess. Normal people can’t afford to live anymore. We might have to go to a one car family which would leave me with no car everyday.
If your driving without insurance on a vehicle and get pulled over, your breaking the law. You should not be able to drive off. Tow it and take plate! Driver pays fine and tow bill. Its not theft!!
The states and cities with liberal governors and mayors can expect higher costs on everything 2025 for the legal taxpayers, but for people in those states illegally, the hardworking legal taxpayers are expected to foot the bills for them because the cities are sanctuary. Vote out the liberal governors and mayors, make your states affordable again.
That's reverse. It's the GOP who pass the laws, the Dem gov vetos and the GOP overrides his action. The cities and states with liberal leaders are the ones where citizen's have a better lifestyle. Governors and Mayors don't make laws. Legislators and Councilmen do. You need a civics lesson.
@@sharontabor7718 I dont call cities where illegals are expected to be supported by taxpayers, housing and everything else is too expensive, criminals are released regularly by soft on crime judges, homeless are everywhere a better lifestyle, neither do people from what once was liberal/swing states. Many of these people voted for Trump because many finally realized that liberal administrations/policies dont work, never did, never will. Take a good look at the election map again, lots of red, a little bit of blue here and there. Biden/Harris lost, get over it.
Codes just drive up the cost of housing and increase homelessness. The house I grew up in was built in 1954 at the junction of cane river and little creek, no Codes, no permit, no inspection, yet after the flooding of helene I see it on line apparently with little to no damage and appears to be livable. I'm sure there is some water damage inside that will have to be repaired. But my point is people are perfectly capable of building houses that can withstand disasters without any government interference.
But it wasn’t built by these developers who are throwing houses up overnight. Houses built by regular people are built to last. The home my mom grew up in the mtns is still standing strong and it was probably built in the 40s. Maybe late 30s.
@ritadyer9295 my dad with help from friends and neighbors built that house in 3 months. The reason it is still standing is the focus on the outside walls, rock and concrete, but no rebar from 5 feet below ground level all the way up. If you build the strongest walls you can afford and anchor them down in the ground the house will stand up to almost anything. It doesn't really matter what you do in the inside if you really got the outside right. When we moved in the walls were not painted, no insulation in the attic, and no hot water. With the focus on the outside walls those things had to wate till later, a minor inconvenience when you see how well it has stood up over the years.
I find that on average if Cooper vetoed a republican bill it was probably a good bill for the state. For example the bill to remove having the Sheriff give you a permit to purchase a pistol. An old Democratic Jim Crow law that nearly every state in the union got rid of. My thinking is the only reason Cooper vetoed it is was because the republicans wanted to make the change. No other reason. IMHO Cooper is a straight Democratic party man looking for higher offices.

Never should stop inspections for home people pay too much and should get nothing but the best
So less scrupulous home builders can make shoddy homes again

They can build to standards that fit the area the home is built in.
We don't get hurricanes and tornadoes in western NC and don't need to overbuild.
In all kindness, your comment is uninformed. The backcountry of WNC has tornado and wind shear evidence aplenty.
Also, devaluing as frivolous building to a higher code standard in a harsh weather environment, glosses over the point of no structural re-builds needed in 50 years.

Our government doesn't even consider how there decisions will affect common hard working people 😢 its going to be hard for us
How about tow all no insurance cars so the patterns of stops and let go and drive later actually stops?
That would be called stealing and is illegal. So not an option.

Stop voting for democrat governor in nc
The republican controlled state assembly passes laws not the governor.
I will never vote republican again. They are stupid.
LOL>>>>> it's the GOP Legislators that made these laws. When he veto's a bill, the override his action.

Election in 2024 for Governor. No question, Robinson is a no go! I usually vote Republican. Not for that wacko. Stein it is.
