Thanks Rikk! I just bought the RP1000 a few days ago, went through the manual, but I still had questions. This was one of them. You do a great job explaining. Very easy to understand! Thanks again!
Rikk, you're like the best demo guy out there. Nice to see someone who knows what they're talking about and gives real, practical information without wanking off the whole time. A breath of fresh air!
Dude, this is brilliant. I am the kind of guy that never takes the time to read and fully understand the piece of gear I bought and therefore never know what it's truly capable of. And this is a perfect example. I went and got some 12 foot cables and did this. Oh my GOD! It's like a whole new toy! Thanks!
I always wondered how these fx send/return stuff worked. Really, nobody has ever explained it to me better than you. u made it look pretty easy. Thanks (awesome technique by the way!)
@raregenius2410 I just read your question again and it does have a dynamic sensitive feature in the fact that it will simulate the gain stages of the tube amp when you pick lightly or heavily and/or roll the volume knob up and down. However you can not assign different tones depending on if you pick lightly or heavily unless the effect you assign to the preset is set up to do that (like a dynamic delay or an auto wah or something like that). Hope that helps!
Hi Rikk. Thanks for the awesome demo, sounds amazing! Just a couple of questions. 1. Can you confirm or set straight a lot of people complaining about a volume drop when engaging amp loop and using just amp tone. How do you fix this? 2. Is there a way to program your own amp tone on amp loop into an rp1000 preset so you don't have to fiddle with the little switch on stage? Thanks heaps! Prae
Hey Rikk,Just wanted tosay thanx for an awesome breakdown-the way you spelled that out totally clicks and makes awesome sense on how to best use the RP! Haven't seen anyone break it down that way until you did and it was like the universe slid into view......................LOL! ROCK ON BRO SOUND'N GREAT!
Thank you for the response! I already purchased the GSP 1101 and the control 2 (both used). Great bang for the buck! Sturdy, flawless function and more than decent tones!
i guess im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Marcellus Donald thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Rikk you seem like a very nice guy and "for sure" you are a great demonstrator and skilled guitarist. Thank you for that demo buddy..and the valuable info.
@Shoji86 I use both channels on my amp for distortion, so when I want a clean tone or a distortion sound like the JCM800 I have it hooked up with the 4 cable method to bypass my preamp and just use the power section of my amp so I can access the preamps inside the RP1000.
Right on! Thank you man! The RP1000 is the heart of my pedalboard for sure!! I honestly could not live without it now unless I spent ALLOT of money on a switching system and a TON of cables!! lol
I have had my RP1000 for a few days now. I love every aspect of the unit. I think missing the MP3 hook up is an oversight on Digitech's part. All the competitors have included them in their pro models. Can Digitech update the X-Edit program to interface with i-tunes so I can play along with my favorite songs?
This thing is still relevant to this day. I dont use any of the cab models but the routing options along with the usable effects and very good amp models make this thing better than a Helix in my opinion. I bought the Helix LT expecting to be blown away and it is a great unit but doesn't have the ease of use and flexibility this thing has. This thing turned my existing rig into a Pro sounding and feeling set up and I'm not sure if I could do without it now.
What I'm trying to do now is adjusting the volumes per patch so that my physical amp volume matches the 'virtual' amp volumes of my cab/amp patches. What sucks about this is I would have to set my amp volume on stage, and then go through each patch where I'm using a model and do the same. It would be nice if this wasn't necessary.
I had many pedalboards, Boss GT, Zoom, Line6, etc... and RP1000 have much posibilities because I can use analog pedals or Valve Amps with 4 cables method and the system switching that have the RP1000, I tried the RP1000 with my Bogner Alcheminst and two analog pedals (tube screamer and mi audio crunch box) and the results are wonderfull, many many pobilities and the quality is great, very proffesional!
@MultiScoffer AWESOME! You will LOVE the RP1000! As for cabs... man thats a tricky situation. Every cab and speaker combination sounds different. I could recommend so many different ones but it really depends on the sounds you are looking for. My BEST suggestion would be to take the head into a music store and try it out with everything they have there until you find one that is perfect. Just like any other piece of gear, you want to make sure it sounds good with YOUR setup.
You can plug any pedals you have into the StompLoop of the RP1000 and per preset program the loop to be either on or off. You will want to make sure all the effects are either Time Based effects or Preamp effects though since you can only assign the entire loop to run either "pre" or "post".
A very annoying problem for me is volume levels using the 4CM. I can't match up the volumes between my amp (amp loop) and the models in the RP1000. Nothing I do makes sense. I can somewhat do it, with my amps volume to 2, but then I have to rely on the master level volume of my RP1000, and I lose sound quality.
Hello, it runs well with my Delta Blues but the major problem of 4 cable method is volume control when you are direct in AMP (return of the AMP). Volume level can be control in tow way preset/mastervolume level (if the volume is low you loose dynamic or you can't go louder if needed...) or Pedal (in this case you loose the pedal control on other fx/disto/etc and very delicate to tune at the good level...)
@MrWildboy214 I played a show in Nashville using a TH-30 combo and my RP1000 and it sounded AMAZING!! The RP1000 was designed to integrate into your tone so you would retain the sound of the particular guitar and amplifier you are using. As for your last question, I have found I can get just about anyone's tone with this unit. As long as you see a similar amp/cab model in the RP1000 as what Page used, you can set up a preset to sound like his tone.
Hi Phillip, Some Fender amps only list a preamp out and power amp in (which can still be used). The preamp out is your send and the poweramp in is your return. Just use the FX send and return and your amp input and you are set! Your amp CAN run the RP1000 with the 4 cable method! :-)
@DefToneFL Hmmmm well I have run a stereo setup using 2 of the same heads going through a full stack each before. The addition was really simple. When doing the 4 cable method you only use the "left" output on the back of the RP1000. So I also used the "right" output and plugged that into the "RETURN" of the 2nd amp. This carried my preamp signal from the first amp into the power section of the second amp. Essentially I was using 1 preamp from one head and both power amps. It worked great!
Allot of times the presets in these units are created by several different people using several different set ups. When they all come together to go into the unit, all the preset volumes different. First thing I always do is go through the entire "User" section and adjust the preset volumes to a "normalized" setting.
Getting on an RP1000 in two weeks. Thanks for this vid! I'm planning on having a few additional pedals hooked in through the RP1000 that I normally run in my fx loop. I'm guessing using this method, if I run a cable from the RP1000 output "To amp FX Return", I can then link in an extra, say delay pedal (which I normally have running towards the end of my FX loop chain), and then in my amp's FX loop return?
I have just bought one of these but am having issues. I have it set up correctly I believe with the 4 cable method into a Mesa Road King 11. Whether in Preset mode or Pedalboard I have no Delay effects. I think also no Reverb. Any help is appreciated.
@JohnMcLeoder Hi John, When I am out on the road doing clinics, sometimes I have to run through many different types of amplifiers so I have to adjust volume levels allot. Normally what I do though is hook the RP1000 up with the 4 cable system, then I put it on a preset that uses an internal amp model. If its too loud, I turn down the RP1000 Master Volume until I get it to the level I like. Then I switch over to a preset where I use the amplifier's preamp and adjust the volume of the amplifier.
@rikkbeatty Hi Rikk. Prae
@deandimedof Hmmm... I guess the first thing to check would be that the cables are hooked up right. Make sure the cable going from the RP1000's "From Amp FX Send" is plugged into the amplifier where it says "Preamp Out". From RP1000's "To Amp FX Return" into the amp where it says "Power Amp In". Then of course "To amp input" goes to the amp input. I used the Fender Hot-Rod Deluxe ALLOT on the road for clinics because most stores carried it and it had a great tone. Let me know if that helps.
@MichaelBower93 No it will not change the channel on your amplifier. BUT you can either have the footcontrol for your amp next to the RP1000 or you can keep the amp on 1 tone and use the internal preamps on the RP1000 for everything else.
Hi! very interesting your tutorial... i have the gt-10 and i know that i could do this also. With your method, you can use your amp only or you can select your "patches". Do you put your amp on the clean channel with your pedalswitch to do this (select the patch)? With the Boss, this method is used to keep the distorsion of the amp and add effects from the digital unit. Thanks for your answer. Bye!
Great video Rikk!!! Because sound acquistion and listening through the computer is more misleading than actual hearing with your ears I would be grateful if you could compare it with any other effect systems in your experience. (ie. G-System or others). Does it sound rather artificial or digital at all? Does it have built in a high quality analog path to be mixed with the digital stuff? Thank you
@JohnMcLeoder Thanks John! I have a couple of my presets on the DigiTech page but I think they are under either the 1101 or the RP500. I dont know if the guys there want me adding my own songs to the Tone Library but if not I can always email you the backing track for Mountains Twin and all of my RP1000 presets. I use my amp for all of my distortion BUT if you turn the Amp Loop off on the preset, I have the amp models programmed in that I used while recording the Guitar Farm album.
@JahsDisciple316 Yes the pedal will still work perfectly in that position due to the fact that the RP1000 is still routing all the internal time based effects to the effects loop in the back of the amplifier. You just have to hit the "Amp Loop" button on the face of the RP1000 to turn on/off the internal amp modeling.
The volume of your amplifier or the RP1000? Basically you want to adjust the overall volume of the RP1000 using the "Master Volume" knob until you match the volume of your amplifier. That way if you switch to an internal preamp on the RP, the volume will be the same (unless you program that preset to be louder/quieter).
@Shoji86 The GSP1101 is a killer rackmount processor. It has the same brain as the RP1000 so the sounds are the same. Only difference between the two is that the RP1000 has a Stomp Loop that allows you to use your other effects pedals & tell them where you want them in the effects chain. The 1101 however has two Audio DNA chips in it which will give you instant switching between presets like the RP1000 but also allow delay and reverb to cross fade into other presets which is really cool!
@1bulldog998 I have my RP1000 hooked up using the 4 cable method to my amp. I go from the output on the RP1000 that says "To Amp Effects Return" into the input of the JamMan and out of the JamMan into my amp's FX Return. That way I can record a clean preset on the JamMan, switch presets to a distortion patch, and it does not change the original clean loop to distortion. Hope that helps! -Rikk
Hello...great demo, but I'm curious to know if I can use the RP1000 with a midi cable to change the channels on my jvm 410h & remove my existing Marshall footswitch? Thanks!
@riotcrue I am not sure why it would do that but you can adjust the master volume knob on the RP1000 to match the volume of your amplifier. That way its the same volume as when you hit the bypass button. The master volume resets after you turn it off each time so you would just need to remember what number you turn it to on that particular amp so you can adjust it when you turn it back on. Hope that helps! -Rikk
Thanks for the video Rikk! It greatly influenced my decision to buy the RP1000. I really like the unit, but I have had some problems with it. It works great with my Peavey 6505+, but I recently have tried it with a few other heads to no avail. I used it with a Randall RG200 and a Carvin Valve Master 100, both with the 4 cable method. When I use it with these heads the volume drop is significant when compared to just plugged in normal. Do you know what could cause this? Thanks.
The mix setting has a cabinet emulator built in which rounds out the distortion a little. Some people prefer that sound. BUT since you are running it into a Hot Rod Deluxe, you should use the 4 cable system and plug into the effects loop as well as your amp input so that way the RP1000 does all of the routing of the effects for you plus it will allow you to switch back and forth between your fender preamp and the internal preamps in the RP1000. Hope that helps!! -Rikk
@gemari77 Unfortunately the RP1000 does not have the ability to switch channels on your amplifier. But you can select the amp loop feature per lesser and design presets that turn it on and off and go between your amp's preamp and the preamps in the RP1000.
@Destroyerrrrrr06 Right on man! It's one of the best processors I have ever used because it let's your guitar and amplifier's tone shine through and doesn't do anything to change it unless you want it to.
First of all thanks for the really informative video. A question on your above comment though: Lets say that i want to use two different presets with my tube amps original voicing. So, I do everything that needs to be done for the 4 cable method set up. So suppose I'm soloing during a live gig with my amp's OD channel and I have the "delay preset" on, then I switch to the clean channel of the amp and I also switch to the "chorus preset". Do I also have to press the "Amp loop" button or not?
I some questions as well. 1.) do you need to have an FX loop on/off switch to change back and forth between the processors models and your amp models? 2.) is the gsp 1101 able to do the 4 cable system as well?
Thank you! I appreciate it! I'm not sure what the fx loop of the amplifier is? I don't have any input called FX loop and please forgive me for not knowing haha! Maybe it's called something different? I have 4 inputs on the back 2 of them are for my footswitch. Left to right they are named, EXT SPKR, DSP (BANK A BANK B), CHANNEL (clean/od high gain) and INSERT. so which one do i plug it into or plug what where? Thank you for your time Rikk! Your awesome!
@bdoginit01 Are you using X-Edit or just editing on the face of the unit? To edit, you should be able to just hit the up or down edit buttons, pick the effect you want to edit, and use the knobs to edit. When you say it shuts off, do you mean the entire unit powers down when you turn the knob?
This is a great video! I'm looking into one of these to use with my Mesa Roadster... I'm curious about the amp channel switching. Is it possible to use this unit to switch between the 4 channels of the Roadster? I'm looking for a viable alternative to the G-System.
@Shoji86 The only differences are that the RP1000 has the "Stomp Loop" feature (the GSP1101 does not) and the GSP1101 has TWO Audio DNA2 chips to allow cross over fades of reverb and delay from preset to preset (and the RP1000 has only ONE Audio DNA2 chip). The brains are the same in both units so the sounds you get from the amp models and effects will be identicle aside from what I mentioned above. Hope that helps! -Rikk
@MultiScoffer The VT100 has an effects loop but I can not find anywhere if it is a series or parallel effects loop. This is something you would want to ask before purchasing. Most amps that have a parallel effects loop will offer you the ability to switch it to a series loop but I would just make sure before you buy. Hope that helps! -Rikk
wow, man that's fast...thank you ..:) Ok Rikk thanks for your answer but i have more question if you don;t mind... so while i've plugged the bad monkey and assign it to be "pre" can i plug another pedal(s) that should be assigned "POST" like delay along with the bad monkey + RP1000?? Aryo, from Indonesia (i'm terribly sorry if my English is so bad)
Hi, I have not worked for DigiTech for about 3 years now and I am pretty out of touch with whats going on with their product support. Best bet would be to contact someone off of the DigiTech website and see if they can direct you to where to get the firmware.
Hey Rikk, I'm currently using the RP1000 in the 4 cable method. I plan to get either a GT800FX or Atomic 50/50 power amp and eventually an axefx2. My questions is, do you know if I'm able to use the RP1000 with one of the above power amps with my cabs or direct until I'm able to transition into the axefx? Thanks for you help and the great demo's.
@Shoji86 Sorry I just re-read your post. You dont have to use the 4 cable method. You can just go out of the RP1000 straight into the Return of your amp's FX loop. If you use the 4 cable method though, you can chose per preset to either use your amp's preamp or the RP1000's preamp.
I'm trying this with the 4CM with a Mesa Mark III. I am getting a TON of hum and noise with that setup. If I use the RP1000 in JUST my effect loop with 2 cables I get no noise. 4CM and it's not usable. The ground switch doesn't do much. I had the same issue with the HD500 and Axe-FX and with a few different amps. I have an ISP Decimator and have tried in a few different spots in the chain and it hasn't had any effect. I'm not using the RP1000's noise gate because frankly, it's aweful. Any tips?
Rick - Thanks for the vids. My rig: RP1000, and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III 1x12. Right now the RP is front ending the HRD and I disable amps/cabs. Two questions. 1) I want to start using the 4 cable system for selective amps/cab sounds. Does this mean I have to re-do my patches and disable amp/cab in the patches where the Fender pre and post amp will be used? i.e. I can't keep the amp/cab bypass on selectively. 2) Do you recommend the clean channel for amp/cab simulation of high gain amps?
Hi Rikk, super review! one question... When I use the RP1000 in Amp Loop (using simulations), It use the valves and warmth of the Amp (Orange)? Thanks.
@WyldeMagiK Unfortunately the RP1000 wont change amp channels. You will still need your amp's footswitch for this. BUT say you only wanted to use your amp for distortion only, you can still use the RP1000's internal preamps for the clean tones and switch back and forth.
Hey that's a great demo. I just bought the rp-500, but I cannot seem to get it to work in my effects loop. I have a marshall jvm410 and I love it's sound. But I really want a pedal to use for wahs, fuzzes, choruses, and reverbs. Does this have a true bypass when I am going straight into my amp? Does it come with cables or do I need to buy my own? Thanks.
@timborocksloud With the RP500, you could just bypass the amp and cab models and just use the effects. Or with the RP1000 (which does come with a full cable kit now), you can hook it up using the 4 cable method and select per preset whether you want to use the internal amp models or your actual preamp from your amplifier.
@SGpro13 You absolutely can do that. I have done that on several occasions myself when filling in with a band. Just use the monitors on stage as your stage volume and it sounds like a million bucks!
Hi, I just got an rp1000 and am trying the 4 cable method- and I'm having a problem with volumes- when I bypass my amp's preamp and use the modeling together with the power amp, it's totally cranked- I have to put the rp's master volume down at around 2 or 3 for bedroom volumes, but then of course when I switch to my amp's preamp, the volume is super low, even with the master volume on my amp turned up high. I can't equilibrate the volumes between "amp loop on" and "amp loop off"
@JahsDisciple316 You got it! I use pedals through the Stomp Loop but also have my JamMan Delay plugged in just as you stated and it works perfectly. You will LOVE the RP1000!!!
@jayruss05 You can't use the 4 cable method on this amp but you can still use the processor. You will just plug it into the front of the amplifier and then choose whether or not you want the internal amp models on or not. If you turn the amp models off, it will be just like having a bunch of pedals and a switching system for your amp.
Nice demo! Does this method work with the RP500 as well, cause I'd like to get one to use for cleans on a Peavey 6505+ (horrible cleans by default...).
Could this be the answer I have been searching for? Very cool! Time to buy one. Im running a triple rec with a matching 4x12 but I want more tones. This will be interesting.
@Archermahly Yes per preset you can assign the amp loop to be on or off and can switch from your amp's preamp to the internal preamps of the RP1000. :-)
@osvtorr When using the amp models of the RP1000 (and hooked up in the 4 cable method) it uses the power section of your amplifier be it tube or solid state. Another amazing thing to try is hooking the RP1000 directly into a P/A system (make sure you select the "mixer" setting by the XLR outputs) and watch as people swear you are going through an amplifier!!
Hi Rikk. I have a Peavey ValveKing 112 and when using chorus and delay directly into the input, the sound was bad. I wrote Peavey and they told me tha t all the time based effects go thru the effects loop. And they where right. My question is if in the RP1000, when using 4 cables, the time effects go this way too? Thanks.
Thanks for the video Rikk. Very helpful. I just bought the RP1000 (it arrived today!) after doing a lot of reading and watching videos like yours. A friend of mine said that virtually any multi effect pedal can use the 4 cable method, not only the RP... but I told him that the RP has something that makes it UNIQUE... is that the "Amp Loop" feature? And I am thinking of what AMP I should use with it, all options are open. I have a couple of Spider Valve MKII's that I am going to sell because I decided the intuitive UI and capability of the RP is really more to my liking (I had an RP355 once before). So I need to buy a new amp with a serial FX loop, tube driven of course... I play in a band that plays covers, everything from ZZ Top to Alanis Morissette. We also play original compositions. I need a wide palette of sounds for this. But I have learned that I do not need a 100 watt head for this situation. Do you have any suggestions of what works really well with the RP1000? thanks Pat Gifford Munich, Germany
I dont get the part when you change to the part of pre amp section from your RP1000. When you were using your amps original sound the RP1000 amp mod were in "Direct"? Then when you want to emulate an amp you just change it to the amp you want and the RP1000 will auto disable your amps preamp? I hope you understand :P
@JohnMcLeoder Hi John, I have done about half of the tones on the Tone Library page. I could definitely look at figuring those tunes out and putting them on there.
hey thanx for a prompt rply! i hae just 2 more questions bout the rp500. does it have the dynamics sensitive feature? like i get a clean tone when i play softly and a distortion when i play harder on the strings? if yes then can i assign different tones for the harder and the softer parts? also, in this video, when u talk about rolling the volume knob down and changing to clean sound, is it the feature of ur amp(orange), or the preamp feature in the rp1000? it's there in the rp500 too? thanx!
@mysillyfacevlogging A parallel FX loop is an FX loop that runs your dry signal parallel with your effected signal. So you hear the original tone AND the effected tone at the same time. In order for the 4 cable method to work the way it was intended, you want to have a standard FX loop where you only hear the effected signal.
Hi I'm back agine just wanted to say thanks I wasn't impressed with the rp 1000 sounded thin but I ran a 4 cable connect thru my 333xl and oh did it start singing there's so much you can do with this thing big Thanks.
I AGREE! I LOVE effects! I used the RP1000 for a LONG time on my board w/ pedals in the Stomp Loop but I recently made a new board that has a Strymon Timeline, Strymon Blue Sky, Wampler Nirvana, Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe, Wampler Euphoria, Hardwire HT-6, Whammy 5, JamMan Stereo, Fulltone Mini Dejavibe, Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, EBVP Jr, Smart People Factory Ego Booster and its all controlled with a Musicomlab EFX MKIII+ switching system. I am NOT the guy who likes a dry signal most of the time! lol
I just bought an rp1000 and I have a vox ad 50vt and it doesnt have a send and return on it. just a jack for footswitch, line/phone, and external speaker. my question is how can i use the 4 cable method with this amp?
Thanks!
Great demo as usual. I love my RP1000 and
am glad you spread the word about this
great piece of gear.
Joe
Hey Rikk, excellent clinic. When I realized the RP1000 can integrate and "switch" my amp's pre., I was sold.
God bless.
I was totally sure that i was going to buy the RP500, but this video totally sold me the RP1000
@rikkbeatty .thank you so mush great help all works with no humming. its nice to have people like you around.
Hey Rikk, Great to see your videos. Your help got me really moving with the RP 1000. I love this unit it is the heart of my setup.
I always wondered how these fx send/return stuff worked. Really, nobody has ever explained it to me better than you. u made it look pretty easy.
Thanks
(awesome technique by the way!)
@Alfred Ephraim instablaster ;)
@Marcellus Donald thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Marcellus Donald It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
@Alfred Ephraim You are welcome :D
Rikk you seem like a very nice guy and "for sure" you are a great demonstrator and skilled guitarist. Thank you for that demo buddy..and the valuable info.
I am going to buy one as well. I was dreaming exactly about such a unit the other day. I did some research, and behold!!! I found the RP1000 :)
@ImageRiver Right on man! Thank you for attending the clinic! Was it one of the clinics I just did in Arizona?
Thanks for your reply. Yes the Line 6 Spider jam has a lot of loops so its going to be areal experience to combine it with RP 1000 digitec
Ok thanks i'll figure it out! Thank you for your time Rikk!
Hi Phillip,
Some Fender amps only list a preamp out and power amp in (which can still be used).
I love my rp 500 it makes my solid state crate sound great
@JohnMcLeoder Hi John, When I am out on the road doing clinics, sometimes I have to run through many different types of amplifiers so I have to adjust volume levels allot. Normally what I do though is hook the RP1000 up with the 4 cable system, then I put it on a preset that uses an internal amp model. If its too loud, I turn down the RP1000 Master Volume until I get it to the level I like. Then I switch over to a preset where I use the amplifier's preamp and adjust the volume of the amplifier.
you sir have made me wanna buy this product ! So thank you dude
@RCFan5150 AWESOME! Thank you man! You will not be dissapointed. The RP1000 is the core of my whole setup. I know you will dig it!

@rikkbeatty Hi Rikk.
@TheJozhera Its up to you if you want to use a cab simulator or not on each preset. You can select "none" if you like.
-Rikk
When you go into the edit feature of the Stomp Loop you can choose for the loop to be either Pre or Post in the chain.
A question on your above comment though:
Lets say that i want to use two different presets with my tube amps original voicing.
-Rikk
sweet tone....3:25....what will you do when digitech models the "orange"? because that sounds sweet!...awesome man!! 5:14 beautiful.....
Aryo, from Indonesia
(i'm terribly sorry if my English is so bad)
Hi,
I have not worked for DigiTech for about 3 years now and I am pretty out of touch with whats going on with their product support.
Any tips?
I own a mark III too and I want to get a used rp 1000. How did u like it when used with the mark ?
Rick - Thanks for the vids. My rig: RP1000, and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III 1x12. Right now the RP is front ending the HRD and I disable amps/cabs. Two questions.
1) I want to start using the 4 cable system for selective amps/cab sounds. Does this mean I have to re-do my patches and disable amp/cab in the patches where the Fender pre and post amp will be used? i.e. I can't keep the amp/cab bypass on selectively.
2) Do you recommend the clean channel for amp/cab simulation of high gain amps?
Hi, I was wondering if you can do the 4 Cable Method with the RP500?
Thanks
Hi Rikk, super review! one question...
When I use the RP1000 in Amp Loop (using simulations), It use the valves and warmth of the Amp (Orange)?
Thanks.
@WyldeMagiK Unfortunately the RP1000 wont change amp channels. You will still need your amp's footswitch for this. BUT say you only wanted to use your amp for distortion only, you can still use the RP1000's internal preamps for the clean tones and switch back and forth.
@72Wonderbread Sure that would work. I would bypass the amp and cab models though and just use the RP500 for the effects in that setup.
What song is played at 4:38?
Thanks.
Wouldn't the same results be had by turning off by turning off / bypassing the amp section on previous units like the RP500 or RP355?
Do you have any suggestions of what works really well with the RP1000?
thanks
Pat Gifford
Munich, Germany
Just bought an RP500 - best floor processor I've ever used.
Can it be hooked up using two cables?
hey thanx for a prompt rply!
i hae just 2 more questions bout the rp500.
does it have the dynamics sensitive feature? like i get a clean tone when i play softly and a distortion when i play harder on the strings? if yes then can i assign different tones for the harder and the softer parts? also, in this video, when u talk about rolling the volume knob down and changing to clean sound, is it the feature of ur amp(orange), or the preamp feature in the rp1000? it's there in the rp500 too?
What are your settings for the noise gate rikk? So you get enough sustain from the guitar but no noise? Thanks!!
I m pretty sure i did it right but when I unplug the front cable going into input while using the rp preamp models, the sound disappears.
QUESTION!!!!
How much does the Lexicon Onyx FX 810 play into the sounds that we hear here?
