I notice a lot of reactions wonder why Harry wouldn't just tell Dumbledore that he's hearing voices... in the books, Harry references not trusting adults (due to living with his uncle) and also being afraid of getting kicked out of Hogwarts for something being 'wrong' with him.
You guys missed it, but it was explained that a fully grown mandrake’s cries are fatal. The ones the students were dealing with in herbology were premature and at that stage, their cries can only render a person unconscious for a while.
In the books, Ron suspected Harry was in some kind of trouble since Harry wasn't writing back since Dobby stole his letters. Then on that evening of the rescue, Ron asked his twin brothers to accompany him to check on Harry because Ron was worried on his best friend.
6:41 Along with that explanation, I’ve always thought that the Dursleys didn’t just hate Harry-they hated magic as much as they hated him. They didn’t want him studying magic and returning to their home every year, so they hoped to "cure" him of it.
For lily's safrifice to keep harry safe, meant he needed to live with a blood relative for it to keep protecting him. thats it, nothing to do with them trying to make him into a muggle lmao.

To clarify and because it's never fully explained in the movies, magical children can be born to non magical folk (Muggles) and vice versa (non-magical children called Squibs can be born to magical parents). The ability to perform magic is an inherited trait and how often it presents depends on the "purity" of the family tree. If witches/wizards marry other witches/wizards, the probability of their children being born with the same ability is higher. However, due to persecutions, burnings, infighting, killings, etc. the population of "pure" wizards has drastically declined. I think Hagrid said in the first or second movie that if wizards hadn't started inter-marrying with Muggles a while ago, they would have died out from lack of genetic diversity. However as an effect of inter-marrying with Muggles, the ability to perform magic started to skip generations or create "carriers"/Squibs, who while unable to perform magic or whose magical abilities are weaker. These people often leave wizarding society due to being shamed or made to feel lesser and often join the nonmagical Muggle community, but go on to either give birth to magical children or have them show in subsequent generations. The more "diluted," the more likely the ability is to skip. There are families like the Malfoys who are definitely elitist and believe in blood purity still. They look down on Muggle-born children for this and at Squibs for having weak magic or being nonmagical. So much so that they are willing to inbreed to preserve the "purity." However, the same can be said in reverse. Harry's aunt Petunia is a Muggle but her sister is a witch. The magical abilities skipped her, but as Petunia admitted in her rant in the first movie, their parents praised Lily for having magic and it made her jealous and bitter. Lily being a witch separated them and destroyed their relationship because they couldn't relate to each other's perspective.
I'm confused about the increase of squibs because of the introduction of muggle genetics thing. Its been a long time since I've read the books, but I remember one certain family inbred themselves so much that they were producing near squibs because of it. They had very little magic. One of them had a baby with a muggle, and that baby had much stronger magic than the near squib mother. It would seem new genes in the pool helped with this. So I forget how muggle genes increased squibs? How does this gene thing work?
@@Seraphim4190after reading someone else’s comment, I just realized how vague you were being on purpose, and I wanted to commend you on it, cause I had no idea who you were referencing until I read someone else’s comment that revealed their identity 😅
@@Seraphim4190 the og commenter is wrong about that. Nowhere in the books did it say about genetics. It just said that the majority of wizards at the time were halfblood, then number-wise were purebloods, then muggleborns, and then squibs (who, Ron mentioned in the second book, were very rare)
To explain the Bloodstatus: Pureblood - everyone in the lineage as known is a whizard or witch such as the Malfoys of course, but as well the Weasleys and so is Neville Longbottom and James Potter. Mugleborn - a magical child born to Muggle parents as Hermione and so was Harry's mother Lilly Potter. The opposite is a Squib a child without magic born to magical parents - Filch the caretaker is a Squib. Most of the wizards are Halfbloods like Seamus Finnegan, the boy who blows everything up and... so is Harry himself. James Potter was a Pureblood (even one of The Sacred 28 - the oldest pure whizard families just as the Malfoys and Weasleys btw) but his mother Lilly was a Mugleborn which makes Harry a Halfblood. And ironically as was just revealed Tom Marvolo Riddle was a Halfblood too - his mother was the descendant of Slitherin but his father was a Muggle so he invented the alter ego Lord Voldemort the icon of blood-purity. Just a few are privy to that information.
Lol Chamber of Secrets was always a little hard for me because it is very situational. So, don't worry about not fully getting it. However, Chamber of Secrets is actually one of the pivotal movies plotwise that doesn't go into effect until book/movie 6. So, just keep this one in the back of your heads moving forward. There are a couple of things I do want to clarify since they don't go into it in the movies that I think will help. It is the background of Voldemort. He is technically a half-blood. His dad is a muggle and his mom was a witch. The story goes that his mom's family are the ones descended from Salazar Slytherin and because of that they wanted to keep their bloodlines "pure" through crazy inbreeding of relatives until it was only just Merope (Voldemort's mom) her brother and her father. They were recluses and one day while walking around a village Merope saw Voldemort's dad, Tom Riddle Sr, and fell in love with him. However, Tom Sr did not even notice her or even care to get to know her once she tried introducing herself. So, she slipped him a love potion the duration of their "relationship". She stopped giving him the love potion after they were married and she was pregnant, thinking he would keep loving her because of the life they built. He did not and threw her out, got a divorce essentially (this was past WWII so don't know if they had divorces yet or simple annullments) and moved on. She was so heartbroken that she died at an orphanage after giving birth to Voldemort (she knew she wouldn't survive the birth so she went there preemptively) naming him after his biological dad Tom Riddle with Marvolo coming from her family side. When Voldemort was old enough to go to Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin he did his best to figure out who his family was because there was a saying that no muggleborns (children with non magical parents) were ever sorted into Slytherin. He eventually figured out who is mom was, met his Uncle, and found out about the story. He got so enraged that his father was simply a muggle that he actually murdered his father's side of the family in order to eliminate anyone from finding out that he isn't a "pureblood". So, keep this in mind when going throughout the movies because you will see a lot of parallels between him and Harry who is considered a half-blood despite having both parents being wizards, his mom was a muggle-born or someone who didn't have magical parents and thus would be deemed inferior to other "pureblood" witches and wizards.
It is such a pity that we never see this background explored more in the movies. It adds so much depth to Voldemort's motivations and ideology going forward.
@thecavalieryouth I agree! I somewhat understand why it was cut for run time/otherwise all of movie 6 would be about Voldemort and not other plotlines. But, I feel like it's needed and a lot of first time reactors don't get some of the depth of Voldemort's character or understand why there a lot of parallels are being drawn between Harry and Voldemort later on.
It's sad that people see PDFs everywhere, behind every rock and tree, and think ANY interaction between adult and child is "creepy" and bad and wrong. I say it's this very mindset that is creepy and wrong. Why are you seeing an adult/child interaction and immediately thinking of sex?? Too many xians in the world...
Your Dumbledore impression is awsome. But will be short lived as Richard Harris passed away after the film and Michael Gambon was cast as the new Dumbledore for the rest of the films. love your laughter and reaction to the films cant wait for the rest.
They actually dislike him so much because Harry’s mom was his aunts sister and she was always so jealous of her going to Hogwarts and being a wizard….i can’t wait for the next one!
I've never laughed this hard through an HP reaction. Too much fun you two! I hope you'll keep it up - I'm so stoked to watch you guys see the series through!
I'm new to the channel as of the twilight watching, and I'm so used to seeing Jacob in a beanie that I didn't know bro had such a nice head of hair lol
There are reasons that the Dursleys (especially Petunia) keep Harry at their house, but those reasons don't become known until much later in the series and would be spoilers to tell you now 😀
Being a wizard/witch is essentially a gene. That's why Harry's aunt Petunia isn't a witch but his mom is. His mom and aunt both had non wizard parents, but somewhere along in their bloodline, someone was with a witch/wizard. Same goes for Hermione. That is why Lucius Malfoy is so prejudice against Muggles. He not only think Muggles are beneath wizards but he believes that Muggles dirty the wizarding bloodlines and causes some to be born without magic. Although, it is possible for two wizards to conceive a baby without magic, even though it is rare. They are called Squibs. That is what Filtch is.
"If I was a parent I would be sending an owl to the superintendent - WHAT are we doing about the petrification problem??!" Snorted out my seltzer, thanks again guys!
You guys are shaping up to be the best reactors I’ve found on TH-cam! Especially since most reactors don’t really vibe with the first two Harry Potter movies and just hang on until the third. Meanwhile you guys are eating this whole thing up so far and making me laugh harder than any of the others!! You also catch on to so much more than other people. Cannot wait for this to keep going. ❤

I did have to giggle when you said that was the coolest concept for a phoenix ever, when you were talking about the one universal, basic lore of a phoenix, that they die in fire and are reborn from the ashes. It's like saying that it's a cool new concept to have vampires drink blood. 😅
In the book it's more clear that the other teachers realize Lockhart's a dingbat 😂😂 when they send him to look for the chamber, they actually just try to get him out of the way Love your reactions!! And Will, your Dumbledore voice is fire
Reading the books growing up, I always considered them mystery novels first, and fantasy ones second. I'm glad you guys pointed how fun the mystery aspect is. There's a reason that to this day JK Rowling still writes detective novels.
Love your reaction! Can't wait for the rest. One of my favorite lines from this movie, when Malfoy asks Harry-Goyle why he was wearing glasses, and Harry-Goyle says for reading... Malfoy: I didn't know you could read. Which apparently Malfoy's actor improvised at that time because he forgot the actual line. 😂
I always assumed the Dursleys kept Harry home because they didn't want to encourage magic of any kind. Like if you didn't like hippies, you wouldn't send your kid to hippie camp.
@ReelReviewHQ VERY!!! (as always, looOooved the intro) as for my commentation: as a starter, this one has ✨️a lot✨️ of improvised scenes/lines 8:35 movies neglected to showcase Ginny's intelligence, wit, and strength (as well as her passion for Quidditch) 12:00 Hagrid was never fully trained in magic, but he is capable of casting spells offensively and defensively (can't say more for spoilers) 14:24 the Weasleys were known in the wizarding world for being of lower economic status (he was being classiest) 18:22 the tree isn't a killing machine, its function is to prevent anyone from entering the secret passage it conceals. 28:06 he's actually a skilled wizard! he takes his studies very seriously (having grown up in a strict household where the best is expected) was Hogwarts' top student until Hermione enrolled. 44:10 they ended up taking all of the good parts of Ron's character and applying them to Hermione in the movies (he isn't useless) 1:00:17 house-elves were actually much more capable of wielding advanced magic than wizards, despite not having wands. House-elves had access to their very own brand of wandless magic that only they could use.
Harry Potter has a special place in my heart because as the books came out I would get them at the midnight release, my son would read them, and then I’d lay in bed with my daughter and read them aloud to her. Even when she was 16 we still continued with our mother/daughter Harry Potter nights. We went to every midnight movie release. I say all this because I watch a lot of Harry Potter reactions, (trying to relive some of those memories), but I rarely comment, or even enjoy the reactions. I really enjoy your reactions and I look forward to watching you guys watch the whole series. You both make me laugh out loud several times per video. Thanks for bringing the fun!😂❤
Harry maybe rich, but keep in mind that no one is there to add money to it. That's all the money he got from his parents. And he have to depend on it for his whole school year, he have to buy school uniforms, and other school supplies, pocket money and money to spend on to buy gifts for his friends on birthdays and Christmas. He have to be mindful on spending the money until he graduate and get a job.
Enjoying all your reactions so much 😁 Also the times you were like "Magic! I love magic!" made me think of the A Very Potter Musicals when they're like "Whoa, cool, magic!" I can imagine you'd have a blast watching those parodies too haha
I was CRAZY about snakes when I was a kid (my school's janitor called me Snake Boy because I'd bring 7 or 8 snake toys to school everyday) and it all started with this movie 💚🐍
You guys are hilarious. I died at the "Ron improvising" conversation. Please don't wait so long to react to the next one, it is a fan favorite. Buckle up! It only gets darker and crazier from here.
When Tom was writing his name I was saying outloud "they're gonna lose it, they're gonna lose it" and then you guys burst out laughing and I was crying laughing so hard! 😂
I have never clicked faster xD I adore your reactions to these movies! I can't afford patrion, so I deeply hope you'll keep posting HP reactions here on youtube :) But nonetheless I always laugh with you whenever you post a video :) I can't wait for the next video
i have to say, this video was the biggest thing i was looking forward to all week. i just caught COVID and it has been ROUGH sailing, but as always you two delivered phenomenally. also, it's so refreshing to see the other point of view, as people who'd never seen/read Harry Potter before. i used to be suchh a Potterhead when i was younger, and once J. K. Rowling started admitting a lot of her personal views, i was deeply hurt. i nearly lost that sense of whimsy for this franchise; it's so nice to experience it second-hand through your reactions. thank you two, as always 🧡 it only gets better from here (until you watch the Fantastic Beasts movies. then it gets a little rough lol)
Here is my continual question about the logistics of this school---So Hermione nearly dies, the boys nearly die, Jenny nearly dies, everyone nearly dies, passes out, falls out of trees, upchucks slugs, gets beat up...is a parent EVER notified? The only medical staff seem to be the teachers themselves who also run the school---is that not, like a conflict of interest in terms of health and safety of these children? Who do you even file a complaint with?
I just love your reactions! I.m crossing my fingers that at least one (or more) of you haven't watched Firefly yet! That show can really help to grow channels with its super loyal audience!
25:00 Same!!! 😅❤ I can even pick spiders up with my hands and not freak out, I think they're pretty cool. But centipedes? 😬😶🌫️ My whole skin starts crawling away. Even writing it down makes me itchy and icky. Nooo, no, no, nope, definitely NOT.
It was a long time since I enjoyed a reaction video this much, thank you guys! ❤ The third one is one of the bests, it’ll give more background infos to characters and new layers to this world. Ps, you tagged hunger games.
You guys bursting into laughter at the big reveal was the highlight of this reaction! I gotta admit, it is kinda goofy with the anagram 😂 I'll allow it 😂
Woohoo Friday night with some movie reaction goodness from reel review hq 👍 Grand reaction as always guys. Dobby though, what a Royal pain in the butt, does my head. Alan rickman though for me, always makes the movies worth while in my opinion. He's just so., awesome. Really looking forward to seeing your reaction next week with Midsommar , you're in for real treat 😈😈
Yes 2 muggles can have a wizard. It's a guess that they probably have magical blood somewhere deep in their family tree but it's not known for sure. 2 wizards can also have a non magical child but it's much more rare, they are called squibs. Not a spoiler because it's never mentioned in the movies but filtch is a squib, it's partly why he hates the students
I notice a lot of reactions wonder why Harry wouldn't just tell Dumbledore that he's hearing voices... in the books, Harry references not trusting adults (due to living with his uncle) and also being afraid of getting kicked out of Hogwarts for something being 'wrong' with him.

Again...the best intros out there!! Such a great series and loved the reaction 🔥
Ong you guys is one of my fav reactors , i love yall sense of humor 12:40 ! i just wish you guys can upload more often than just on friday 😢
YEEEEEEEEEES!!! FINALLY YOU GUYS UPLOAD! I felt like a tweaker😭I kept checking for uploads constantly throughout the day😂
Potatoe!!!!!!!!!! Hope you enjoyed!
@ReelReviewHQ VERY!!! (as always, looOooved the intro)
as for my commentation:
as a starter, this one has ✨️a lot✨️ of improvised scenes/lines
8:35 movies neglected to showcase Ginny's intelligence, wit, and strength (as well as her passion for Quidditch)
12:00 Hagrid was never fully trained in magic, but he is capable of casting spells offensively and defensively (can't say more for spoilers)
14:24 the Weasleys were known in the wizarding world for being of lower economic status (he was being classiest)
18:22 the tree isn't a killing machine, its function is to prevent anyone from entering the secret passage it conceals.
28:06 he's actually a skilled wizard! he takes his studies very seriously (having grown up in a strict household where the best is expected) was Hogwarts' top student until Hermione enrolled.
44:10 they ended up taking all of the good parts of Ron's character and applying them to Hermione in the movies (he isn't useless)
1:00:17 house-elves were actually much more capable of wielding advanced magic than wizards, despite not having wands.
I love you guys reactions. Great voices, hair and beards too.
Thank you so much 😁
you guys really just have the greatest vibes, love the videos!
Thanks so much!!
You guys are so funny 😂 please keep the HP reactions coming because I'm having a blast 💜
Harry Potter and Hunger Games are my favorite. Love you guys.
the Sorting Hat provided the sword-in-hat. there's another word play for ya!
Another awesome reaction!! We love the intros !!❤
Yall are so funny! I’m so excited for you to see the next one, it’s a crowd favorite.
Perfect timing on this video! It was lovely to rewatch this movie with you guys, they're gonna start getting darker from here on out!
Fabulous as always!! Had me cackling ❤
I love those intros. ❤ And nice to see another Hufflepuff, even if it was briefly with a stolen robe ahahah.
hufflepuff gang gang!
Enjoying all your reactions so much 😁
Also the times you were like "Magic! I love magic!" made me think of the A Very Potter Musicals when they're like "Whoa, cool, magic!"
I can imagine you'd have a blast watching those parodies too haha
Omg here i was finishing their Last Samurai while waiting for this upload and i missed the drop because of it!!! 😱😢 an hr late but im here yay!!!🥳
😌 so happy!! Makes us feel real special!
@ReelReviewHQ you totally are! Hope you take care of yourselves to keep giving us great reactions but please don't feel pressured 🤗
Even though you guys joke around and stuff i really appreciate the stuff you pick up on. Things that will come into play later. Keep it up!
I was CRAZY about snakes when I was a kid (my school's janitor called me Snake Boy because I'd bring 7 or 8 snake toys to school everyday) and it all started with this movie 💚🐍
You have no idea how much I needed to laugh today 😭 Thank you for making me feel better and giggle like a child ❤ Xoxo's from Argentina!
Thanks for watching this one with us Ayelen!!
Im loving your reactions so far and cant wait to follow your journey. Lol its a trip
If I remember correctly, Harry's family is rich because one of the things one of them invented was the potion they used on Harry to regrow his bones.
Love the intros
Thank you for another great reaction!
You guys are hilarious. I died at the "Ron improvising" conversation. Please don't wait so long to react to the next one, it is a fan favorite. Buckle up! It only gets darker and crazier from here.
Just in time for my b day! Glad you guys are continuing the series 😊
Happy birthday!🎉🎂🎊🎈🎁
I love Harry Potter! PS: I NEED TO SEE YOU GUYS WATCH THE SECOND HUNGER GAME CATCHING FIRE ASAP!
Coming soon! Promise!
When Tom was writing his name I was saying outloud "they're gonna lose it, they're gonna lose it" and then you guys burst out laughing and I was crying laughing so hard! 😂
That part sent us to the floor 😂 lmao!!!!
7:18 what is this?! A rare reversal!
7:22, 18:27, 19:26, 19:48, 20:53, 28:06 (a double!), 31:54, 33:21, 35:11
Updating as I watch just leave me alone, boys lol
Lmao
So glad I'm not the only one that loves all the"sure/shore"s. 😄 For some reason it makes me giggle every time.
I have never clicked faster xD I adore your reactions to these movies! I can't afford patrion, so I deeply hope you'll keep posting HP reactions here on youtube :) But nonetheless I always laugh with you whenever you post a video :) I can't wait for the next video
Daniella!! Thank you so much for watching and laughing with us!
You two are so much fun 😂 Your reaction to the Riddle revelation was hilarious
The 3rd film has a well-known director. It’s much darker & intricate. 🖤🌹🖤🧛🏻♀️
Whimsichills Trademarked 😂
You guys are funny. Been laughing my a** out the entire time haha😂🤣😆
Oh wow I’ve never heard someone say they’re laughing their ass OUT what a visual hahaha
Literally the intros are why i subbed so much tom foolery It's golden 😂
i have to say, this video was the biggest thing i was looking forward to all week. i just caught COVID and it has been ROUGH sailing, but as always you two delivered phenomenally.
also, it's so refreshing to see the other point of view, as people who'd never seen/read Harry Potter before. i used to be suchh a Potterhead when i was younger, and once J.
BiRD!!!!!! You rock as always, brings a smile to our faces when you comment!! Glad we could bring a little joy!! 🥹 hope you feel better!!💐
Okay Jake with the Cardigan, 👌🏻👌🏻
This movie like legit terrified me as a child. The book even more so. Just the creepy whispering voices, they always get me.
Guys really go the extra mile 😂❤ :46
25:00 Same!!! 😅❤ I can even pick spiders up with my hands and not freak out, I think they're pretty cool. But centipedes? 😬😶🌫️ My whole skin starts crawling away. Even writing it down makes me itchy and icky. Nooo, no, no, nope, definitely NOT.
Loved the intro
😎😎😎 props and robes. Nice job boys!
YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE AHHH THE OUTROS 😂😂
lol 😂
It was a long time since I enjoyed a reaction video this much, thank you guys! ❤ The third one is one of the bests, it’ll give more background infos to characters and new layers to this world. Ps, you tagged hunger games.
No, thank you!! We can’t wait for the next one!!
You guys bursting into laughter at the big reveal was the highlight of this reaction! I gotta admit, it is kinda goofy with the anagram 😂 I'll allow it 😂
Yea that floored us a bit lol 😂
3:50 i feel like most people my age can agree when i say, I pretend to not exist on the daily. Sounds like the perfect evening
Those were some of the best nights ever “a whole night online” away from the world
Woohoo Friday night with some movie reaction goodness from reel review hq 👍
Grand reaction as always guys.
Dobby though, what a Royal pain in the butt, does my head. Alan rickman though for me, always makes the movies worth while in my opinion. He's just so., awesome.
Really looking forward to seeing your reaction next week with Midsommar , you're in for real treat 😈😈
Lucien! Always a Reel One!! ☝️
You’re quickly becoming my favorite reaction channel! I can’t wait for you to get to Prisoner or Azkaban. You’re gonna love it!!
Awee! Thank you so much!!
You two crack me up 😂 bet you are a hoot off camera 😂 I am so glad I came across your channel.
I want to add that Lucius was about to use one deadly spell on Harry
Yes 2 muggles can have a wizard. It's a guess that they probably have magical blood somewhere deep in their family tree but it's not known for sure. 2 wizards can also have a non magical child but it's much more rare, they are called squibs. Not a spoiler because it's never mentioned in the movies but filtch is a squib, it's partly why he hates the students
Okay set design👏🏻 okay fire place 👏🏻 big ‘ole fancy TH-cam boys over!
We are trying lol 😆
@@ReelReviewHQ the set looks really nice! very cozy
If something doesn't make sense it might be explained in the books. They have to make adjustments to keep the movie concise and "cinematic."
