There are a few problems with this video: 1. unconditional removal Assasinate, was 5 mana at the time, so having a 4 mana removal was nice. 2. Greater Arcane missles problem was the that you mentioned last, that spelldmg wasnt boosting, the amount of missles it shoots, like in the case of arcane missles. (that would made the card viable) 3. Crush was run in some greedy control lists, only debating if its worthy of the top 10 worts. 4. Darkbragain was run in disco lock, but the deck was never really good, zoo was just better. And its support was scattered around expansions and standrd format so we never really had full power. 5. Canon Barrage was run in an otk list of some sort, if i recall it correctly, but never really good. 6. Deadly Arsenal tho i think at 1, was run in control warrior sometimes. Not in the same expansion but like 1 year later or someting. 8. my biggest problem however is that cards are sometimes compared to other cards that are like 10 expansions away. Sure Crush wasnt a good card, but comparing it to Coarce isnt really fair, when crush was literally in the 2nd expansion (2014), while coarce was realeased in 2020. Kinda the same with G.A.Missles and Firesale. Some that you can consider putting on the list: Shatter, Goblim Toss, Icicle, Scorch, Rolling Fireball, Sacred Trial, Holy Wrath, Holy Water, Doomerang, Malevelant Strike, Chain Lightning, Molten Blast, Catalysm, Spreading Madness, Feeding Time, Hit it very hard, Iceblood Garrison, Sweeping Strike. Some of these cards, even saw some play here and there, but rarely for removal purpose, some of them were great arena cards, or good when discovered. I loved the video tho, i am looking for more:)
I would argue that Assassinate is properly valued at 4 mana, because it never saw any play at 5 and hasn't seen any play at 4 (although it probably would have back in the day). When you're evaluating power level as a whole, you need to compare things conceptually to see what the bar is to make a card playable rather than look at things in a historical vacuum.
Yeah I just did not like how greater Arcane missiles was counted as removal but its more like pyro blast but is really good with spell damage and crazy on a empty board .
I would say shatter is one of the worst removal spells. It is 2 mana mage spell which lets you destroy frozen minion. When it was released mage didn't have a lot of good and cheap freeze cards and even now when mage has good freeze cards it is already worse than snap freeze and shattering blast.
@@Linkfan001 I think at 0 mana it might. Mage does have a really decent freeze package and destroy a minion for free is actually really strong because it would be very easy to play with freezing spells
@@Linkfan001 it probably would in a miracle or mozaki deck where 0 mana spells are very valuable. combine it with ray of frost or flurry for efficient removel too.
I forgot that Deadly Arsenal even existed until this video! The only way I can imagine that card ending up that bad is if it had a bunch of extremely overpowered iterations in testing and they had to gut it immediately before they released that expansion. For a top 10, two ideas I'd like to see are top 10 uncollectible cards and top 10 alternative hero powers (that can be used in the normal game, solo modes and duels might be too much)
I love how 7/10 of these cards are of Epic Rarity, kind of hammering home the point that Epic cards are the read-headed step child that Blizzard goes out to "buy a box of cigs" for in terms of card design.
Rarity isn't necessarily power level, but rather complexity. Commons have very simple effects, Rares have more synergy-dependent effects, Epics have weird or niche effects, and Legendaries have deck-defining or at least extremely unique effects.
I remember getting deadly arsenal in randomonium tavern brawls, and not having any weapons. Good times. As for topics to cover. 10 best non hero cards that give armor that aren't in warrior.
I made a deck to use Greater Arcane Missiles as a finisher. I use that mage weapon Celestial Ink set to hopefully discount it in my hand to cost 3. Put Vexallus and Aegwynn in there to boost it to 5 dmg per missile. And on turn 10 play Brann and the hero Magister Dawngrasp. Also high spells of note are flamestrike, mask of cthun, and that other arcane spell that costs 5 (8 dmg to a minion, and the remainder summons a minion). Highest i got was platinum 3 with it though.
Top ten worst charge minions. Top 10 discover cards/death rattle/battle cry minions. Top 10 best cards for draft, that are never used in constructed. Top 10 hero replacing cards. Top 10 worst key words Top 10 best/worst solo mode exclusive cards
Apparently some guy just made really high legend with Impbalming in Renolock. Roffle just showcased the deck, which also includes Tamsin. The trick is that you use Tome of Origination Quest, get Reno and Zeph down before Impbalming, play Tamsin Hero card, finish the quest, and then Rafaam so that your worthless imps and 3/3 Tamsin demons turn into legendary minions that you have a 50/50 to draw for zero mana. Even if you have to panik and play it early, the deck has ways to pull them back out and it's not actually a game ending problem.
Huzzah! Deadly Arsenal is now seeing play in a legitimate wild deck! Even Warrior, btw. Supported by blacksmithing hammer, forge of souls, frozen buckler, shield shatter, Igneous Lavagorger and other larger minions.
ramming speed 100% saw play as a tech option in control warrior, a competitive deck at the time, unlike every other card on this list. no way does it belong in this vid, especially lower than cobra shot, which is unironically one of the worst cards ever printed in the history of the game and has never seen even a modicum of play.
Impferno wasn't actually that bad once we got the warlock galakrond hero card it was easy to have some 1/1 imps on the board that would benefit a lot from the +1 attack. Dealing 1 damange to the enemy board isn't only a control effect as it helps on an aggro mirror. As honorable mentios for this video I can only think of recycle, maybe toxic arrow, blast wave for sure, enter the coliseum too. Betrayal was kind of weird. Walk the plank is now pointless. I'm not sure first of jaraxxus counts as removal. I think that's all.
I completely forgot about recycle! That def should have been on the list. While the gimmick of druid having bad hard removal is a thing, most high impact, high cost cards would love to be played again, and at 6, using it on anything too small was an objective waste. Also, it did not deal with the problem in a way control druid could meaningfully take advantage of later. There is a reason they ran double big game hunter for a long time.
I don’t know if I can get behind cannon barrage being so bad, realistically you can get a good 3 pirates on the board when you cast it with the aggressive play style, it makes for a pretty good finisher for that massive spike of damage- as a removal option i do agree it is bad
Woah some of these cards don't deserve to be on the list. I know they are being marked for their removal potential but for some of these card's lifespans they were never used for removal but for other uses. Impferno was used for getting up to +7 in damage to clear minions with your demons or face damage. Cannon barrage was essentially pure face damage as no deck that ran it would only use it for an oppennets empty board. However a lot of the other ones were pure damage
How did Corruption not end up on this list? I havent played hearthstone since oil rogue was the meta so i dont know much but that card is undeniable bad
Greater Arcane Missiles isn't really a removal spell. But you know what _is_ removal and has a similar-ish effect? *Arcane Crafiness,* Reno's third hero power from Tombs of Terror. First off, because it's a hero power and not a spell, it doesn't benefit from Spell Damage. Second, and more importantly, it's so random that it's not even funny. As if it hitting "wrong" minions wasn't enough, it can also go face, so even if you put all enemy minions to 1 HP, it can _still_ whiff. I've played Tombs of Terror a lot back in the day and I think I only picked it once ans never again after I saw how much it sucks.
Amazing Holy Wrath isn't on this list. The 5 mana draw a card from your deck, deal it's mana cost as damage to your target. The ONLY time it saw play was for memes trying to pull the legendary 25 cost molten giant from your deck...and even then it was terrible.
Alot of the cards you compared the bad ones too were from future expansions. Yes, the cards were still bad and didn't see play but powercreep exists and this doesn't accurately depict the power level of removal at the time.
So I really feel like you must hate warlocks in Hearthstone because I completely disagree with how you feel discard works. It is very easy with all of the discard cards printed to manipulate the desired discard.
Discardlock is a very fast deck, and you wouldn't put a 6 mana card that doesn't win the game in it. That's just asking to have a dead card in hand, and a dead card means lost value because you'll probably end up discarding it. Also, the downside is way too crippling for a control deck. Dark Bargain is just a mismatched effect.
There are a few problems with this video:
1. unconditional removal Assasinate, was 5 mana at the time, so having a 4 mana removal was nice.

Top 10 cards that draw more cards? There's a lot of decent picks for a category like that
Skull of Gul'Dan and Secret Passage seem like obvious picks
@@marleonka. nah, Secret passage is good.
Radar Detector just came out and already needs to go on that list. I laugh when my opponents whiff and only draw 2 cards for 2 mana.
@@amberlee4536 God, imagine telling someone 3 years ago that. "They only drew 2 cars for 2 mana, what a letdown."
I would say shatter is one of the worst removal spells. It is 2 mana mage spell which lets you destroy frozen minion. When it was released mage didn't have a lot of good and cheap freeze cards and even now when mage has good freeze cards it is already worse than snap freeze and shattering blast.
Shatter... oh, that would easily be top 2 or 3 here. My God that card was abysmal. Think it would see play at 0?
@@Linkfan001 I think at 0 mana it might. Mage does have a really decent freeze package and destroy a minion for free is actually really strong because it would be very easy to play with freezing spells
@@Linkfan001 it probably would in a miracle or mozaki deck where 0 mana spells are very valuable. combine it with ray of frost or flurry for efficient removel too.
The worst thing about Shatter is that it can be randomly generated. It might as well say: "You can hold 1 less cards in your hand."
I forgot that Deadly Arsenal even existed until this video! The only way I can imagine that card ending up that bad is if it had a bunch of extremely overpowered iterations in testing and they had to gut it immediately before they released that expansion.

I use to listen to your top 10's to fall asleep to (because I know NOTHING about Yu Gi Oh) but it's nice seeing you do HS aswell.
I love how 7/10 of these cards are of Epic Rarity, kind of hammering home the point that Epic cards are the read-headed step child that Blizzard goes out to "buy a box of cigs" for in terms of card design.
I think that possibility of getting nerfed if card is too good affects that
Rarity isn't necessarily power level, but rather complexity. Commons have very simple effects, Rares have more synergy-dependent effects, Epics have weird or niche effects, and Legendaries have deck-defining or at least extremely unique effects.
I wonder if Deadly Arsenal could be better now since the print of the weapon in the United in Stormwind expansion.
Great video. Subscribed!
Greater Arcane Missiles was intended for face damage not removal, Impferno saw some play, Ramming speed was bad because supercollider already existed
another great vid, really love 'em. That's my YT algorithm contribution . Have a good one!
This may be hard but top 10 cards that give you the most value would be cool
Man. I already thought that deadly arsenal was a terrible card and I thought it drew the weapon not just revealed it…

I love Impbalming in my Renounce Darkness deck.
it's a shame deadly arsenal sucks because I love the artstyle of the illustration.
Dark Bargain is only good in Rastakan's Rumble Run when you have the Discard Shrine.
10 classes so maybe a top 10 where you pick the best legendary per class?
Also called the best hero card or quest per class.

Cobra shot at 4 mana can be at best a niche pick for Quest Hunter, Working in a similar way to Piercing Shot but at 5 mana its awkward and unplayable
Do you think you'll do a best Control/Agro cards list? 🙃
impferno is meant to be combo-ed with mad summoner. It still sucks, but in that context, the effect makes more sense.
Impferno wasn't actually that bad once we got the warlock galakrond hero card it was easy to have some 1/1 imps on the board that would benefit a lot from the +1 attack. Dealing 1 damange to the enemy board isn't only a control effect as it helps on an aggro mirror.

Maybe a Top 10 best or worst mechs?
a top of non-collectible cards could be interesting
Wait, Cobra Shot is from GvG? I thought it was from KotFT o_o
I think Discard was improved by being most/least expensive in terms of cost. But yeah, being random sucks and kinda of kills the mechanic.
I love how you roast bad cards
When I was new to the game, I thought Dark Bargain was really good and used it alot
I didn’t win many games

Assassinate is not “one of the best removal spells in the game” …
Yup
I think he meant it is the best spell to accurately determine what the mana cost of "destroy a minion" is. As it doesn't have any other effects
Warrior: best of the best, worst of the worst
Impbalming was a decent arena card
