If you are referring to the Last Song by Above the Law and NWA... yeah that was good. But actally it was D.O.C. and NWA that made the "perfect" song with Grand Finale.
Jayquan does not say if this Globe song was #1 perfect for its time, or if it transcended and is his #1 all time.
I just don't see it either way Jay trying to sell it.
Rakim 3 years later with President and P.I.F. dominate this.
Hell, gimme Fast Life by J+H over this as perfect rap song. Main Source? Moe? E.p.m.d? Jeeze, I could go prior and after this 83 song and get better.
Hate to be the student arguing with the teacher, but Jay had an off-day with this lesson.

Actually I see what your saying a little better now. It's a "10" in your book. And there have been multiple "10's" over the years.
But that leads me to ask "How many "10's" exist in Jayquans Book from 1979 to 2020? If a ballpark figure is one perfect song for every year, that would be 40 or 50 songs. Or is this GLOBE song one of only 5 or 6 that you deem "perfect"?

No doubt that this song was great but the The Foundation brought me back to the day I actually saw it at the record spot. Such a great history lesson for those who weren’t there in the time period. What really, really made this record dope, and I've said this previously, on multiple occasions, is that many of the songs, from this particular era (1982-1985), were catering to the "break dance explosion", that took over America, and the world. Songs like Planet Rock, and Sucker MC's, would've never existed, if it wasn't for B-Boys/Electric-Boogie dancers. And I know this, because I was there to see it.
I can tell you right now, that if it wasn't for the B-Boy element, we wouldn't be having many of these discussions. Especially those that are centered around Electro, or the drum machine era.

Jay I don't know how familiar you are with the Electro compilation series on the Streetsounds label but for us in the UK they were a lifeline to what was going on back then, turns out there was a lot of 'loose licensing' going on but we - to use an old term were 'fein'ing' for them and each release was a big event, would love you to do a series covering them picking up on the more obscure entries as many of them had interesting stories being either already established acts working under pseudonyms or just shortlived crews with little available background
The Electros really captured (if accidentally) the changes as Hip Hop developed having a consistant look for Electro 1-6 (which they would return to sort of nostalgically later on) then moving to more angular geometric artwork from Electro 7 onwards - I remember The Gloves Itchiban Scratches 'it's time to change' sample repeating on Electro 7 felt like it was reflecting the changes in both the artwork and the wider movement and that was kinda true as at that time drum machines were giving way to James Brown samples and Electro funk was giving way to the more established term 'Hip Hop' (which the series would also mirror graduating From Electro 1-10 to HipHop Electro 11-16 to eventually Hip Hop 17-22
The series contains some memorable mixes too, so many readiy-recognised moments and it would make for a real cool stroll down nostalgia street hearing you break them down
