He is like a loving father teaching his children... No BS, nor sugar coated phony niceness like with too many we see today. Genuineness. Excellent presentation....
When I started Playing Drums back in 1975 Billy Cobham was the 1st Drummer I got Turned on to. He Played a Humongous Drum Set and He Played every Single Piece Of his Drum Set. Excellent Player and even More Excellent Person. Thanks Mr. Cobham for Who You Are.
What amazing words of wisdom from an absolutely amazing musician and life expert! l wish l could have been there in person to feel the atmosphere and aura of the situation. Nevertheless, it's tremendously inspiring and heartfelt to see this video!!!!!
Interesting. For me music is more time consuming than life consuming because there are so many other aspects to life besides music. I play drums but I refuse to let THAT define me as a person. What if I should lose an arm or a leg?! If my life is defined by what I do rather who I am then my life would be over. I think the important thing is balance. Other things in life require effort and maintenance just like drumming. You get married and have children? You're gonna have to see to that area of your life. Billy said "you're either all in our part in and your drumming will reflect that." This is true, and likewise it is true for all the other areas of our lives. It's all about balance, that's what makes the teeter totter work. It's the difference between the one who is driven and the one who has drive. Being driven reflects being out of balance and not in control. Addicts are driven.
Billy's right competition is what's wrong with western music when musicians start comparing themselves to others rather than trying to just fit in musically with other musicians
Billy is very inspirational. His words of wisdom are so true. Wonderful man and drummer. Thank you

I love Billy Cobham. So much to say, so simple to understand.
Thank you, Billy.
Great man. It is not only his drumming skills but his musical approach on his recordings that touches me the most.

Billy was the most impressive Drummer of the 20th Century! Deep respects! Even Tony Williams, Buddy Rich or Joe Morello could'nt come so far...
