      If I wasn't going to tow , I'd get a hybrid minivan . I know the escalade looks better but when fuel jumps 50 cents a year, it's better to stay on the safe side.

    I think something you failed to mention about the diesel engine is the long term durability of it. I own a 2014 Audi A8l TDI and I have over 320,000 miles on it. The A8l still runs good. Also, on a tank of gas you will get over six hundred miles on a single tank of diesel. I would definetly get the diesel if I were to buy an Escalade.

    • @MilesPerHr

      The Duramax will indeed be reliable. Then again, the 6.2L V8 used in GM's products is also proving quite reliable!

    • @Voldorac
      @Voldorac 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not only that but the Diesel Escelade ESV gets around 120 mile ish more range than its gas V8 counterpart. That itself + the extra space in the back is a huge win. You're not getting an Escalade ESV Diesel because of the 0-60. You are getting it for the comfort.

    I love how you are just casually cruising on the left lane and cars passing you from the right. At least in Europe you would get a ticket from that. In here the left lane is for passing only, you are not allowed to cruise on it

      Not really, only some parts of Europe. Most of Europe also allows passing on the right.
      Also the left lane isn’t in itself for passing “in Europe” but the traffic is right hand side and you’re required to be as close to the right mot of the time, barely any countries says left is for passing.

    Big rig diesels go 1 million miles before a rebuild which is routinely done in big rigs since the frame can go 2 million +. That is the attraction of the diesel. Gas engines go 200kish at best. Big rig Diesel engines when the truck is scrapped are stripped down and rebuilt. I've seen warehouses filled with hundreds of Detroit diesel engine blocks on stands ready for shipment to be rebuilt. Something the environmentalists don't know or disregard vs electric batteries which were nothing more than toxic waste. I have seen recently that they came up with a way to recycle batteries so if they can retrieve all the past battery toxic waste then a win win.

    Great vehicle, but has just a few shortcomings.
    #1) Switch gear and buttons shared with other GM vehicles. Not a big deal in a Buick, but should not be present in a 6 figure vehicle.
    #2) Falls short in front end storage. GM really is “anti- sunglasses holder” for some reason.
    #3) No second row center console option or ventilation seats. Advantage Navigator and Grand Wagoneer.
    #4) You get over the allure of the big screens and really look around, you have to wonder if the Yukon Denali is the better buy.
    Still a great vehicle and still on my test drive list. 🙂🙂

    Putting it into manual mode at 13:10 and revving the truck to redline is not how you get the most power out of a diesel. You'd want to shift up before 3000rpm to keep the engine in its torque band.

  • @doublehh666
    @doublehh666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Price savings from fuel consumption is an even wash due to the price of diesel premium and DPP scarcity premium over gas since most American refiners have been selling their cracked diesel to Europe and Asia. And thanks to the Ukraine war, urea is spotty in supply. Decent fuel consumption for a land barge but nothing to boast about as long as there is a significant enough difference between gas and diesel prices. Assuming of course there is a reliable diesel supply always around also. The real future of diesel Will be when combined with light weight solid state batteries and hybrid to reduce the weight penalty for these larger fuel barges. That would be a torque monster for sure. No one buys something this size for speed anyways.

    0-60 in eight blows away what anything in this class of vehicle was 20 years ago. If I were going for something this large I'd take the economy without hesitation over the 0-60 time of the gas engine. It's not a hot hatch (even though it's actually faster than most 1980s and 1990s hot hatches); it's a very sumptuously appointed bus.

Even if you need to move your whole family around that's 4 people at most (mom, dad, two kids) so a normal sedan or even a compact hatchback would do. It's an american thing, you wouldn't get it. Basically, historically, gas prices have always been low(er) and car manufacturers post WW2 had their cars get bigger and bigger the higher you went in price, having a big car was a symbol of prosperity and it sticked around. Ironically, european countries love big american cars, because we influenced them culturally, for example, in France, I saw a lot of Dodge RAM 1500 with the Hemi V8s, they love to import these and Escalades.
