I hated when the Eagles let this guy go. Thanks for these clips! You said it right, he is probably the most under-rated RB in the history of the league.

Interesting running style. Quicker than fast, more slippery than powerful. Runs bigger than his size but still is able to disappear behind his blockers and appear on the other side. He was a real good one.

I was just thinking that. Started with talking about how incompetent and idiotic Callahan was and him switching the entire game plan right before the super bowl. I was trying to think about what exactly I liked so much about garner and Tyrone Wheatley on those raiders teams I rooted for them as my 2nd or 3rd fav team for a few years once Jerry went there till he left and this comment assured me that I wasn't crazy. Dudes just had unique abilities especially Charlie.

I always say this. There are maybe a handful of guys in the history of the NFL this quick (not to be confused with fast, though he was that too). Elusive guys that could stop on a dime, slash and cut. In no particular order: Barry Sanders (he’s #1 tho lol), Charlie Garner, Shady McCoy, Matt Breida, Reggie Bush, Napoleon Kaufman.

I played at Glendale Community College,(PhoenixAz) we were ranked #1 in the country JUCO 1990. Charlie played at Scottsdale Community College, The Artichokes, cross town rivals. We knocked him out before halftime. He already torched our D for 220yards. By far the best back we saw that year. We finished 5 in Country that year

I was at a Raiders - Cardinals game and the game was a blowout. Most of the crowd was gone and I was sitting right behind the Raiders bench. With about a minute left Charlie took off his gloves, clipped them together and tossed them to me. Some fucking asshole snagged them out of the air jumped over the barrier and took off. Sucks. Garner looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and shook his head like "What a dick move."

Why this guy wasn't a featured back for 10 years just baffles me. So much wasted talent, his entire Eagles career was baffling. He should have been the focal point of the offense, like a Marshall Faulk type player. Instead, his best years were wasted as a part-time back when this guy had talent like you couldn't believe.
