Lucky you. Mine is definitely a lemon. You would chuckle if you saw how far off the slide the rear sight has to be drifted just to shoot straight. Accurate to maybe 7 yards. Past that, it is WIDE right. I think the barrel is the issue. I thought about sending it back just to see what Taurus would do.

I also have a shield that has had multiple failures that I could never trust my life with. But I also believe it is just a lemon, and another one would be perfectly fine. I buy the Turas's because the ergonomics on their guns are PERFECT for my hand. The Shield on the other hand fits my hand terribly. No pun intended.

I picked up a Taurus Gx4 a month or so ago. So far I've put through 850 rounds. Mostly 115 grain target loads. But a couple of hundred 115 and 124 grain hollow points just to make sure it would run. I've had no issues. I did just acquire a Lakeline LLC ported barrel upgrade. The barrel sticks out of the gun just a bit, but the port does reduce muzzle flip you get from these short barrel gun a lot. Tighten up my groups significantly.

@@Jon-ki2px We are talking about the GX4, not the past junk pistols they seem to have left in their past. Bear in mind the several Glock lawsuits, SIG lawsuits, etc other companies faced over the years. They handled this as well if not better than some of the Cadillac brands in recent history with their admitted faults. This is coming from someone who sent back a bricked pistol to Taurus and swore them off before the G2C redeemed them in my eyes. I even owned the TCP380 as a fishing gun and can confirm it is trash with a paper thin barrel. I have come full circle to defend them as their quality has redeemed them. They are on par with competition, especially considering they are just above High Point price point. Just some perspective from a former disgruntled owner turned proponent of giving them a chance. I think it is the best budget arm to possess that gives more lower income people a chance at defending their families with confidence.

I want to scream every time I hear the Shield referred to as “the original” micro 9. Chris, the Walther PPS would like to have a word with you. It predates the Shield (which is in fact a great gun) by at least five years. And the PPS - both the original and the Gen 2 (or “M2” model) are still great options if you value build quality, reliability, and accuracy. Poor Walther always gets overlooked in this category; a shame given how good of a gun it is.

The MC9 has one big advantage over every other micro 9: it uses the same magazines as the big brother gun. The TP9, Mete, Rival, and MC9 series pistols all use the same magazine pattern. So the MC9 can use the smaller 12-rnd mags for carry, but also the longer 15-, 18- and 2-rnd mags at the range.
The MC9 is also only one of two micro 9 pistols ( that I know of ) that have an ambi-slide release, optic cut, and standard 1913 accessory rail. The only other one is the Kimber Mako.

    • @Thevoiceofsomething
      @Thevoiceofsomething 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

FYI, the mc9 is not a micro 9. It is considered a subcompact due to its double stack nature. Others include the glock 26, and beretta apx compact. Those also fit the same mags as the larger models, glock 26 can use 19/17 mags; and the apx compact can use centurion and full size mags. The new glock gen 5 mos, has ambi slide catches, optics and rail; the beretta has a rail and ambi slide catch. The beretta compact can be made a centurion, and a centurion a compact, as the have the same FCU and slide. I will say though, I have a tp9sfx, and the rail is definitely not standard. It is way out of spec, l tried to put a light on it once, and couldn't because the rail is too shallow.

@ogkandyteeff l agree about the mc9 being on the cusp, it is a small subcompact. But it still doesn't meet the definition of a micro 9. However, the p365 is not a true double stack. It is the epitome of double stack, single feed. The rounds are offset, and staggered. In the bottom of a full mag, they are doublestacked to an extent, but near the middle, the mag narrows causing the rounds to stagger into an offset single stack. Apparently sig spent a lot of time to make the p365, and based the whole gun off of the mag. Which was originally an idea from keltec.

Reliability is always matched with some other gun. I get what you mean, but that's a HUGE leap to say any pistol's reliability is unmatched in the 2020s....

@@barrydraper I'm sure it's reliable. I just think calling it unmatched is a bit of a stretch. I'm glad you like your gun, and it IS a very good option. Not sure why he didn't add it, but I'm sure it would have at least been in his top 10. 🙂

Me too. It's only the 2nd gun I've carried that is comfortable to the point of, it's just part of getting dressed in the morning. Like putting your belt on and wallet in your pocket. I've had some where I'm never 100% comfortable, and it feels like I'm carrying too much stuff with me. Or I think, "Everyone can see, everyone knows." I never feel like that with my 365x. The FN Reflex seems like it would be a comfortable choice also.

My first firearm was a Wilson Combat P365 X, I went for a P365 variation but they were sold out but 1 variation and weren't getting anymore in for a couple weeks.
The 1 they had was the Wilson Combat P365 X variation, which shot the price up a fair amount but I got it . I got it because at the time more dumb laws were about to be passed and I didn't want to risk it.
I have approximately 2,000 rounds through it thus far and haven't had a single malfunction, yet. .. I am very pleased with my purchase and have been fairly accurate with it from day one and have only gotten more proficient with it.

It’s the FN Reflex for me! Phenomenal trigger and so much easier to control under recoil. 100% reliable. My only issue is that the tritium went out on the front sight, but that doesn’t really matter with a red dot.

My buddy loaded 1,200 rounds of 9mm too hot. The rounds blew up a sig macro on the second mag that the sig ever shot ( round number 19 total). He decided to buy 2 of those gx4’s to see if we could shoot through them all. We ran both of them to failure. One of them couldn’t fire any more rounds, and the other just barely limped across the finish line of the 1,200 we were shooting. The thing I didn’t like about the Taurus guns is that both of them had the rear sights drifting back and forth about halfway through the pile of ammo. I do not believe that this failure had anything to do with the rounds being loaded too hot. Also, the trigger pull was pretty atrocious on both of them. All in all, I was impressed and surprised that neither gun exploded due to firing so many over charged rounds ( unlike the brand new sig) but I certainly wouldn’t buy one. The fix for a rear sight that just does whatever it wants would be a pain in the ass.

I have been presently surprised by my Taurus GX4. 600 rounds, no malfunctions, and when I shot it the other day I was shooting better groups than with the new Dagger 4.5" I just bought. Trigger could be better, but it's definitely usable. And yes, I am a poor, not every new gun I purchase can be a SIG or I would be even poorer.... Wish it was made here in Georgia, like me, but hey.... at least it's not Turkish!!

Mine was about $280 after transfer fee btw. No red dot on it yet, it's coming though. Holsters are a pain to find if you put the TLR6 on it, I ended up buying one from Ebay and modifying it so the clip doesn't stick out so far off my belt. It printed pretty badly when I first got it.

@capy069 I do. It's low light (100 lm) and only lasts an hour. And takes weird batteries.
I bought a holster on Ebay they works with the light and cut out where the clip dips into the frame of the holster... It sucks being poor 🤣🤷‍♂️
